Arrogant Khan
First topic message reminder :
Just found a quick thread for all those Khan fans/haters. Amir is explaining why he thinks he isnt arrogant and that its all banter. What you guys think? I dont think he is as many of you are aware, i just feel he has a great sense of self belief and confidence.

Will check that out, I always enjoyed "The Champ" (1931 version) with Wallace Beery. A nice film about boxing and black/white to boot.

Somebody Up There Likes me is worth watching as well, am a big Paul Newman fan and he does a decent job. It helps that Rocky Graziano has lived one hell of a life.

The fact I can't stand Judy Garland or 99% versions of "Over the Rainbow" (Eva Cassidy or Jeff Beck are the only ones I like) it fits in the rubbish bin.
Have seen "Someone up there likes me", big Newman fan.

I was referring to it being black & white to start with but then filled with wonderful pretty colours later on in the film, oh its just delightful. And oh, those shoes! The red sparkly shoes are just adorable!

After playing the cowardly lion as a ten year old boy in my primary school's 1999 production of the Wizard of Oz, I have to admit that it's one which is near and dear to me.

Look at the evidence. Dorothy is quite clearly the fag hag, surrounded by 3 effeminate blokes who all like dancing and singing. The film is more gay than Tom Daly

Nothing beats a good old bit of dumbed down action on a Sunday night.
But my favourite films, to give you a better idea:
Leon
Event Horizon
Dog Soldiers
Kungfu Hustle
And the last one even has subtitles.... oooohhhhh look at me

Will give you Leon Coxy and Kung Fu Hustle, however much as I like him Oldman's over acting grates after a while. Does have Daniel Aiello or however you spell it which is a plus for it. The less said about the other two the better.

Jeff, I'm sorry but no. No. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Baby no!
I don't set many ground rules, but we need one now. Gary Oldman's impeccable acting shall not ever be subjected to any even remotely negative comments. The man is a wizard on the screen!

Re: Arrogant Khan
Gimme a good Clint Eastwood film any day. Dirty Harry, Gran Torino, Mystic River...he's proved himself time and again.
For horror though...the last film to scare me was probably Jaws, when I was a kid. I used to have the kid's game too, and even that cacked me up.

I agree he is terrific but he is prone to bouts of overacting and in Leon he is so far over the line he cannot even see the line. Now The Firm or State of Grace are different matters all together and in those he is beyond reproach.

Christ alive, Oldman delivers one of the great cinematic lines in history....
"Get me everyone...."
"What do you mean everyon?"
"Evvvverrryyyyyonnnnneeeee......"
Brilliant
And Dog Soldiers is bloody brilliant....
"Where's Spoon?"
"There is no Spoon"
I almost quite literally peed myself at that point, for me it's an all time great British comedy film! Certainly wees all over most others!

Dog Soldiers is good, but it's about a 7/10. British comedies of recent years...well, Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz for me. For a good serious flick; Dead Man's Shoes.

Re: Arrogant Khan
At the risk of incurring Rowley's wrath (again) on this issue...Does anyone else agree with me that 'The Godfather' was the most overrated film of all time? Decent flick, don't get me wrong, but why is it constantly at or near the very top of all these all-time lists by film critics and organizations?
Too long, takes an age to get going, Pacino just doesn't convince me in it, Brando's not really in it as much as many seem to think...I could go on!
