True!
Still only 3 wickets down, really struggling to get them out here which is very annoying.

As I said earlier, a decent spinner would be making inroads here. When has Nora ever 'spun' us to victory?!
Effectively 73-3 at the mo. It's difficult to see us rolling them over in enough time to win the game

Agreed gooch, although 1 breakthrough could easily lead to a couple more but it will have to be the seamers who do it because Batty isn't good enough. Then again, there aren't exactly a whole host of quality spinners around at the moment. This is a very disappointing bowling effort so far.

Prepare to resuscitate the "Jon Lewis: Never Knowingly Underbowled" line...
Sorry to see him go.
But we have plenty of good youngsters.

Well Dent got his highest score and his first 100 with a 6 but then the Gaffer finally got him. Congratulations to both I guess!
Chris - you must be happier today, it is a great fightback from you lot although I hope you collapse now obviously!

249/4 at the close then. 112 ahead and only 1 day left. We'll probably have to have bowled them out not long after lunch to have a chance.

Re: surrey vs gloucestershire county Championship division 2
Sometimes cricket just makes me lol:
Just seen that Masters took 8 for 10 (!!!) as Leics were bowled out for 34.
Essex, having made only 144 in their 1st innings, won by 280 runs.
Similarly, Worcs made 488 in their 1st innings against Somerset, but went on to lose by and innings and 8 runs.
These are the sort of things we should recall when moaning at our team's performances. Remember, we are not the only occasionally useless ones...

34 really is pathetic by anyones standards, you are right Chris sometimes it does you some good to have a look around at other teams plights to realise it could be worse!

Tough day for Surrey today. Anyone heard any reports on how Ansari bowled?
Crucial that we get early break through with the new ball. Hopefully Dernbach can take some wickets!

JimBob can calm down a bit as Dernbach's nabbed Alex Gidman.

Yasir dispenses with catchers by getting the other Gidman out plumb LB.
Any advice for friendly sledges that the Surrey team could lob at Jon Lewis?

Now only two wickets to get, and Gloucestershire lead by 172.
Looks like we could have a game here...
... now if only we could have nine Jason Roys fielding.

In passing it's worth noting that Walters "the walking wicket" scored 81* in Glam first innings. And at lunch he is also 81* in the second innings. I'm pleased for him.
Anyone been listening to commentary - how is the wicket playing?

Re: surrey vs gloucestershire county Championship division 2
No reports of any demons in the pitch from Churchy.
I'm surprised Hyphen didn't try more spin. I heard that Ansari was warming up at one point, but, if he actually bowled it must have been a very short spell because I missed it on the commentary (I'm trying to work!). Then just the two balls from Nora before lunch, the second of which led to Saxelby's demise.
Always knew that Stuart Walters had it in him: he had that brief rich run just after he was made captain two years ago, including a ton at Guildford. But his form always seemed to be "on" briefly and then "off" for significantly longer.

Haven't been able to listen to the commentary but this morning's scorecard makes pleasant reading and suggests a good performance. Barring last wicket heroics from Gloucs, we now should have enough time to push for a win.
Just need to be sensible ....

184 to win. Lewis ct Batty b Dernbach in first over. Minimum 65 overs, so plenty of time, and draw looks unlikely.
Well, if we don't win this one, the rest of the season is just a matter of laying the groundwork for 2012 in the second division.
