If the Jets can't re-sign Cromartie, they will go for him.

Re: The UFA and Free Agent thread.
Lions so far.
Released
Bryant Johnson WR and Jordon Dizon LB (bust drafted a couple of years ago under Millen)
Signed
Justin Durant, 4 year vet, OLB from the Jags on a two year deal, supposedly v. good run stopper.
Eric Wright, 4 year vet, CB from the Browns, one year deal; talented, had a poor season last yr and lost his starting spot. Looking for a fresh start.
Rashied Davis WR from the Bears, pretty old (31 or 32) one year, mainly for special teams (good return coverer and back up for Logan). could be number 4 reciever.
Maurice Leggett, 3 year vet, CB from the Chiefs; drafted in 2008, looked quite promising but missed 09 and 10 due to injury. Gunter Cunningham, our defensive coordinator is quite big on him (was the d coordinator at KC when he played a bit)
Durant and Wright looking very likely to be starters, Davis will be special teams. Leggett will have been cheap
Also, Nick Barnett is currently visiting Detroit, and I wouldn't be surprised if he was with us by the end of the weekend.
Stephen Tulloch is still not ruled out, he supposedly turned down $6m a year from us, and the Eagles were supposed to be after him to replace Stewart Bradley. But.... after Nnamdi, Babin, Vince Young, CB situation, and D-Jax holding out... do they have the money. Heard rumours Tulloch has moved out of his house in Tennessee and is considering where to go.

Now Cullen Jenkins is an Eagle too. Where are they finding the money for all of this! And how much are they going to have to give Jackson given he has seen them spend money hand over fist?

Re: The UFA and Free Agent thread.
At least signing Cullen Jenkins should keep you guys away from Tulloch now....
Which would be good as I just heard that Nick Barnett is not visiting Detroit today, it's another team. He's supposed to be coming to Detroit tomorrow if he doesn't sign wherever it may be. My guess is Chicago.

Re: The UFA and Free Agent thread.
Plax is turning out to be an interesting one, he seems to be making up his mind which of the former teams he wants to return to. He visited the Giants for a wee chat with Tom Coughlin and yestersay he visited the Steelers. NFL.com says the 49ers are also interested.
Don't know if he'll still be as good but as long as any deal isn't too demanding I'd still like to see him on board.

NFL Network been running a poll for "Best fit for Plax?" with Giants, Steelers, Rams and Eagles mentioned and the Eagles have 49% of the vote.

Theres not a chance the eagles can afford him and jackson. i doubt the rams are interested after adding sims-walker. Itl be between his two old teams and maybe the 49ers hes apperntly visiting them today

Plax will be on a small and probably incentive laden contract, so I think the Eagles could afford him, but I doubt they are serious about bringing him in. There were better targets available they didn't go after.

Eagles seem to be the popular choice for free agents this season. With Philly, Atlanta, Green Bay and New Orleans, the NFC is absolutely loaded this season!

Jason Lacoforna is reporting that the cardinals are interested in aquiring braylon edwards. I like the sound of this deal but i cant help thinking it would make so much more sense for the vikings to get him.
Edwards, Harvin, Jenkins and Aroshmadu would be a nice chart of wrs, and would be capable of competing with the packers awesome quad.
Anyone else got any good fits or heard anything about braylon?

Leach moving has really decreased the Fantasy value of Arian Foster and increased that of Ray Rice. Big move, I think.

Re: The UFA and Free Agent thread.
Leach will probably have more impact on the Ravens passing game as Leach is pretty dangerous coming out of the backfield. That puts 5 receivers in the game on every down. If they'd kept Heap, Flacco would have had no excuse for making yards.

8 receptions for 91 yards, but he got used more in previous seasons. Word on him is for a big guy with a punishing lead block, he has great hands. In the right offense he's another Rathman/Alstott.

Apologies,I was wrong. He seems to be a fantastic blocker alright, not sure if he is much of a rusher though.

Re: The UFA and Free Agent thread.
Interesting moves in Minnesota where they cut LT Bryant McKinnie for reporting to camp 'unfit' for football !
Charlie Johnson was signed as replacement from Colts.
It's a fair achievement to get on the 'Non Football Injury List' just for being a lazy ******, but this is the guy who couldn't be bothered to show up for the pro-bowl practises the other year and was scratched from the game....

Re: The UFA and Free Agent thread.
Marc Bulger announces retirement.
Kind of surprised with that because although I have him down as an underachieving QB, he is still a competent back up and with so many teams going into the season with rookie QBs on rosters either as starter or back up, the value of a half decent veteran to fall back on is big, his agent confirmed that he received a number of offers before deciding to retire.
I guess MBs retirement may increase interest in Carson Palmer....

I'm surprised also... during the lockout he seemed to be the dark horse savior of numerous teams with QB issues as everyone was saying that a year of "rest" would have done him the world of good.
Surely the Panthers could have done with him and Not Derek Anderson as a "tutor"

Re: The UFA and Free Agent thread.
so happy that we brought in Ty Warren. Broncos D-line doesn't look awful now and with Von and Doom going after the QB could be a little on the tasty side.
Zach Miller leaving the Raiders is pretty huge as well a good 24 hours in FA land

I'm pleased too, but don't get too excited about Warren. He was injured all of last season, and every season we get a FA DT that fits Warren's description, everyone get's excited and then the player does badly. I don't think that will happen with Ty, but I'm reserving my judgement.
I'm really liking our new D, better D-line, better pass rush, better linebackers and better safeties.
