If you are referring to Nmandi, I'd point out that Rod Woodson retired at 39 and Darrell Green retired at 42. 30 isn't all that old in the NFL these days for the right kind of player/athlete.

Good move again by Carolina... need a good running game to keep the pressure of Cam/Clausen.
He wanted to stay, got a good deal. Well done DeAngelo

This isn't FA news but apparently Frank Gore is looking to hold out until he gets a new contract. Could be nasty news for the new coach.

Eric Weddle to be top paid safety in league (SD)... 5 years, $40m, $19m garunteed, $13m signing bonus... breaks all sorts of records... little bit random though he has been good for the Chargers the past couple of years!

The nature of FA contracts makes them likely to be record setters. Always likely to get more when theres competition. Why Charles Johnson is being paid like a top 5 DE

Kolb deal likely to be completed within 48 hours, with DRC heading the other way. apparently eagles were selling drc jerseys on the site earlier.
Seems like a great deal for the eagles with no other teams realistically in the market for the qb.
Also deangelo williams has signed with the panthers seems a waste of cash with goodson and stewart

Re: The UFA and Free Agent thread.
Thoughts on FA so far:
My top unrestricted free agents (in no particular order)
Nnamdi Asomugha
CB Nnamdi Asomugha.
DE Ray Edwards
DE Charles Johnson
TE Zach Miller
WR Sidney Rice
OL Marshal Yanda
WR Santonio Holmes
LB Paul Posluszny
CB Jonathan Joseph
Charles Johnson is one of my top free agents but I’m not sure about giving him $76million over 6 years, that’s almost Julius Peppers money! 11.5 sacks last season for the Panthers shows the kind of impact he’s capable of but I would be slightly concerned by the fact he only put up 10 sacks and 50 tackles during the two seasons prior to 2010, not awful numbers but not what I would expect from a top RDE.
I think Paul Posluszny is a good signing for the Jaguars. His numbers have improved each year and despite playing in an unsettled Bills defense last season he managed 151 total tackles, 2 sacks and 4 passes defended in 14 games. His play in 2009 when he had 110 tackles, 1 sack, 3 forced fumbles and 4 passes defended with 3 interceptions in 12 games suggests that if you put him in the right spot he’ll make plays. Provided he stays healthy (that’s the knock) he’s one of the safer top tier free agents in terms of performance on the field and he should do well now he’s back in a 43 defense.
Eric Weddle is a solid safety with upside but is he worth $50million over 5 years, I don’t think so.
Agree with Arizona Tom that the Ravens have done well to re-sign Marshal Yanda. He’s a versatile lineman who can play both tackle and guard to a high level and he comes without a lot of risk, unlike some of the other FA offensive linemen.
Plenty of FA inflated contracts as you would expect.

Re: The UFA and Free Agent thread.
More deals...
Gaffney traded to Washington for someone I hadn't heard of. Brandon Stokley also signing with the Redskins. Seem to be collecting old recievers, what with Stallworth earlier in the day.
Gradkowski is off to Cincinnati to provide Dalton with competition for the starters job. Wise move to get some experience in as Gradkowski has shown himself to be vaguely usable for short periods.
Leinart has resigned in Houston... to basically be a 3rd QB again... lofty ambition from a former #10 pick.
Vinatieri is staying in Indy for another 3 years. He's getting on a bit, but still a tidy kicker and kickers are practically ageless.
Quincy Black resigned with Tampa. 5 years $29m.
Melvin Bullit to stay with Indy. Fits their system well, good to keep him given the departure of Bob Sanders (not that he ever played full time!)
Lance Moore to stay with New Orleans. Good little receiver in the slot. Surprised some others hadn't shown more interest in him.

Well chuffed we've locked up Quincy Black. Decent young linebacker. Ruud is history though, and I have a jersey with his name on it

Re: The UFA and Free Agent thread.
Pr4wn - I've had 3 Skins jerseys and every time I've bought one the player has left or died. I'm not buying another one as I'm jinxed (unless it has Snyder on the back...).
Like the idea of stocking up on good receivers, though I suspect 1 or 2 of the draftees may be trade bait or released in a week or two. Moss, Armstrong, Gaffney, Stokley, Stallworth and Hankerson right now looks like a good line up, but Holmes would have been a fantastic addition. Now we just need someone to throw to them...

Re: The UFA and Free Agent thread.
Cowboys re sign Kosier to a 3yr deal, which is good he helps Guroade call the plays and is a very astute OL man the left side was strong last season. Dallas not after Amougha Safety is bigger concern Elam from the Browns is now favourite played under Ryan also Cullen Jenkins from the Packers is quite high on their list.

The Jets will be sweating if anyone can turn Haynesworth back into the Monster he was it will be Belechick they play both a 3-4 and 4-3 ad Haynesworth and Wilfork together is strong pair of DT better than the Lions 2

Re: The UFA and Free Agent thread.
I have to agree with Evan Silva's take on the Haynesworth trade:
"So for the rest of today do we get to hear how brilliant the #Patriots are for acquiring Haynesworth? #Raiders would be crucified for this."
too true
FWIW, I think that Bill will make Fat Albert a force again. Him and Wilfork. Wowsers.

Re: The UFA and Free Agent thread.
The trade for Haynesworth is surprising but we throw around some late round picks every year so i'm glad this year they gambled on haynesworth rather than bringing in some journeyman.
I have no doubt he could be utilised in our defense, whether it's in a four man front when we are in sub packages or at RDE in the 34, but the big question for me is motivation. It concerns me when Redskins coaching staff and DC are quoted as saying Haynesworth didn't want to do anything exept rush the passer on 3rd downs out of nickel packages.
Plus although the Redskins have forked out the silly money that contract is still pretty hefty and Haynesworth is due a $20million signing bonus in 2013 so it's essentially a two year rental.
EDIT: Adam Caplan of Fox Sports is reporting that Haynesworth forfeited his guaranteed 2011 salary, $5.4million, by skipping 2010 minicamps with the Redskins so I like the move a bit more now.

I'd liked to have seen the Skins get a bit more from the Fat Al trade, but under the circumstances, simply being rid of him is a good result.
Interesting that there's been no major speculation on where VY will end up. I guess nobody is saying anything until the Titans have actually released him.

Kolb to arizona for DRC and a 2nd round pick. Furious!!! Cant believe this deal
Kevin kolb the guy whos lost more games than hes won whos threw more picks than tds. Ridiculous decision at this price, especially with orton going for a 3rd or a 4th

Von Miller is signed too... this new rookie scale is really speeding things up on the rookie front!
And yes... what a deal for Kevin Kolb. I I have liked what I have personally seen, but he seems to have been a lot worse in the games I haven't seen extended highlights or the full games.
Jermon Bushrod signs a 2 year deal with New Orleans. Good move as he has been a solid LT since the Superbowl season.
Brad Smith has joined the Bills from the Jets. As many people may be aware, I'm not a huge fan of gadget players, but I dont think the price is that steep and Chan Gailey seems intent on building some kind of gadget offence.
Clint Session to Jax from Indy.
