Can't be bothered with Judah after the Khan performance, he was getting hammered fair enough but take it like a man, he should retire.

I was sold on the whole comeback from Judah he was going on about before the Khan fight but he chucked it.
I think Paris will beat him and that will probably be the last we see of him. He was never the same after Tszyu.

Tony Bellew to face Danny McIntosh for British light heavyweight title.

Theres a bit of bad blood between these 2. I think Bellew will spark McIntosh out inside 8 I don't rate McIntosh at all.

There's bad blood in every Bellew fight recently.
Mckenzie for the rematch, the Cleverly one, now McIntosh.
Although I like McIntosh, Cleverly Ko'ed quite a while ago (If I'm not mistaken) Can see this as a win for Bellew, but it will be hard fought.

Re: Boxing News
Whilst it's a bit late, and possibly of no interest to anyone else, The Irish Elite Championships began on Friday. The winner's will most likely go to the final Olympic Qualifier in Turkey in the Spring to fight for a place.
One very interesting result, Ray Moylette, the man who comfortably defeated Tom Stalker in the European Championships final to win Gold, is out. In all probability he will not be going to the Qualifier, meaning Ireland has lost one of it's big medal hopes.

Re: Boxing News
The Irish Elite Finals took place place last night. The fight of the night was the defending Champion and European Champion, Joe Ward versus Olympic Silver Medalist, ten time Irish Champion and former old 606er, Kenny Egan.
Ward demolished him. I have never seen Kenny Egan look so ordinary at 81kg. Ward pounced on him from the opening bell and controlled the tempo. He forced Egan into a standing count in the second before eventually winning 29-10.
The rest of the results were:
49Kg: (Light-flyweight) Paddy Barnes (Holy Family) beat Hugh Myres (Ryston) 21-17
52Kg: (Flyweight) Michael Conlan (St John Bosco) beat Chris Phelan (Ryston) 19-11
56Kg: (Bantamweight) John Joe Nevin (Cavan) beat Michael Nevin (Portlaoise) 23-3
60Kg: (Lightweight) Michael McDonagh (St Marys) beat David Oliver Joyce (St Michaels Athy) 17-14
64Kg: (Light-welterweight) Ross Hickey (Grangecon) beat Stephen Coughlan (Bray) 21-5
69Kg: (Welterweight) Adam Nolan (Bray) beat John Joe Joyce (St Michaels Athy) 17-15
75Kg: (Middleweight) Darren O'Neill (Paulstown) beat Conor Coyle (St Josephs) W/O
81Kg: (Light-heavyweight) Joe Ward (Moate) beat Ken Egan (Neilstown) 29-10
91Kg: (Heavyweight) Tommy McCarthy (Oliver Plunkett) beat Christy Joyce (St Michael's Athy) KO3
91+Kg: (Super-heavyweight) Con Sheehan (Clonmel) beat Sean Turner (Drimnagh) 25-10
Boxer of the Championships: Joe Ward (Moate BC)

Re: Boxing News
O'Neill, Conlan and John Joe Nevin have qualified for 2012. All three will be serious medal threats. Conlon lost to Selby in the QF's by a point at the Worlds, but last year was his first year at international level. He has come on leaps and bounds over the past year, and is a real medal prospect.
Nevin is two time World Championships Bronze medalist. Lost in the Semi in Baku to Campbell on countback, but I thought it was a very harsh decision. He's ranked top four in the World, so again a big medal prospect.
O'Neill is ranked third in the World, so again should be in the mix at London.
Of the rest, I fully expect Paddy Barnes and Joe Ward to join them. Ward is outstanding, for a lad who has just turned 18 it's frightening the way he handled Egan. I tipped him for gold in London, and although the Cuban De La Cruz looks the man to beat, He is definitely in the mix. Barnes is a former European Champion, current Commonwealth Champion and Bronze Medalist from the previous games. Quite a few places left at light-Flyweight, so he should have one. It will be tough for the rest, with very few slots available in each division. Hickey is very good, but needs to win the Qualifier to ensure his place at 2012.
Every Irish fighter will be tough to beat. It's worth remembering that this will basically be a home Olympics for them as well.
With Regards the pro ranks, Ward looks like he would adapt easy enough. He looks to have serious power in both hands. Will any of them turn pro? I doubt it, our boys tend to stay as amateurs. Of the five Olympians from Beijing, only one, Darren Sutherland (RIP), turned pro. O'Neill is a teacher, Hickey is a soldier and Nolan is a Garda, so most will probably go back to their day jobs.
In a slightly unrelated note, I've heard a rumour that the five Ukrainians who reached the World Championship finals (Lomachenko, Kytrov, Usyk, Shelestyck and Berinchyk), will all turn pro after 2012. However, they come as a package, either you sign all five or you sign none of them. Supposedly they are going to sign to Senchenko's promoter, but I hope they don't.

Wasn't too sure where to put this as it didn't really justify a thread but looks like there is a new boxing film on the way that looks like it could be very good.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2012/feb/13/paddy-considine-boxing-year-locust?commentpage=last#end-of-comments
I have read the book Year of the Locust and it is truly outstanding (review in vault) and Considine, aside from being a brilliant actor is a massive boxing fan so this has the potential to be brilliant.

Good boxing films being something of a rarity I shall look forward to this one, and particularly since I know absolutely nothing about the subject matter.
Thanks for the tip, jeff. Perhaps you'd keep us posted as to its progress.

Agreed Alex, saw Considine in the bar at the MGM before the Hatton Mayweather fight and have hard him discuss boxing before so he is a proper fan of the sport, the book is outstanding as well so it all bodes well to be a very good film

Re: Boxing News
The Chemistry Cup, a multi-nation tournament in Germany, finishes today. 20 nations were represented through-out the 10 weight classes. GB were not represented, but Ireland sent a nine strong team out. Overall they finished with one Gold and four Bronze medals, Light Heavy Joe Ward winning the Gold. He comfortably outpointed his Russian opponent 20-14. The Russian is the World number 4, and a former World and European Champion. Could we be looking at a future Olympic Champion?
Great start to St Patrick's Day for the Irish, and hopefully it will continue at Twickenham this Evening.
The team was:
49Kg: Paddy Barnes (Bronze)
52Kg: Michael Conlan (Bronze)
60Kg: David Oliver Joyce (Bronze)
64Kg: Ross Hickey
69Kg: Adam Nolan (Bronze)
75Kg: Darren O'Neill
81Kg: Joe Ward (Gold)
91Kg: Steven Ward
91+Kg: Con Sheehan

Hi mate
We don't have such an arrangement with BoxNation, but there is one in place with Primetime.

Did anyone see the boxing on Boxnation last night? I went, it was a good night of boxing. Selkirk struggled slightly against Ball. Ball is no pushover though and gave Eubank Jnr all he could handle. I think boxers need these type of fights early in there careers so they can learn from it and adjust.
Rocky also got rid of bit ring rust yesterday in a much improved performance from last time out against Tolan. Healy quit on his stool after 3 rounds. The hard work he's been putting in the gym is paying and looks a lot more composed in his work.
.
Calum Johnson was also in a good scrap with game James Tucker

Only managed to catch the Johnson fight, Soldier. Target practice really, but I thought he did well nonetheless. Looks a good prospect for The LH division though, seems quite mobile for a big guy.
What do you reckon to Johnson v Fielding a little while down the line?

Rocky was meant to be fighting Luke Blackledge for the central area title but it never got finalised. I think thats his next fight but I think it will be in Liverpool and for the English title cos Paul David is going to be stripped.

Zou Shiming, Three time World Champion and Twice Olympic Champion, has signed for Top Rank. Arum must be looking to crack the Chinese Market, using Shiming's marketability as he seemed to be one the slide in London. He squeaked past Paddy Barnes before being given a very fortunate decision in the final against the Thai lad. He will be 32 in a few months, so I doubt he will make a massive impact.
