NFL Casualties
Carson Palmer retired.
Now news out of the Giants is that Rich Seubert was cut. Bummer.
Any others?

What a feel good story. Beats cancer and now a chance to make a team like the Giants. I wish him luck

Shaun O'Hara of the Giants is reported to be cut too. Yikes. Will they even have enough on their O-line.

The Redskins manage to get a 6th in 2012 and possibly the same in 2013 from the Vikings for Donovan McNabb.

Result! Much better than getting nothing for him.

Fox Sports is reporting that Reggie Bush is being traded to the Dolphins. It's contingent on Bush's agent being able to work out a deal with Miami -- Bush is said to be considering whether he wants to accept the trade. Everyone knew they weren't going to keep him at $11.8 million this season.

Not a casualty, but Kevin Kolb is now the Cardinals' starting QB and DRC has been shipped to Philly who also received a 2nd round draft choice.

Re: NFL Casualties
If Brunell doesn't retire I'll be surprised, but you never know. I'm wondering how much Adams has left in the tank - he wasn't exactly his former self for the Steelers but was still useful.

Could be worth a pickup for a team looking for an experienced RT.

Re: NFL Casualties
Apparently Brunell will be re-signed by the Jets and O'Connell has been released. Really seems like they are scraping the barrell to bring in Aso.

Re: NFL Casualties
Been away guys but saw everything unfold on ESPN.
Palmer will come back, something clearly happened in Cincy whether we ever find out is another matter, but he is a competent QB who would start in 50% of teams, the Bungals were hoping to trade him but no-one has come in for him so far.
I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a trade away if/when a starter goes down elsewhere, Bungals may then get something like a 3rd round pick for him

Re: NFL Casualties
I dunno Griz -- Mike Brown is a man of (misguided?) principle and has refused to trade players in the past. My feeling is Carson sits this one out, unretires next season in time to take an $11.5 million dump on Cinci's cap, forcing them to trade him. Until then, Mike Brown is p-issed and Carson doesn't seem to have any leverage.
Wish I knew what happened between them.

Re: NFL Casualties
Fair point Mangler, but he gains nothing at the moment and whilst I commend his line I think if a starting QB goes down for a play off probable team then the calls will come in for Palmer and if the Bungals can pick up a pick or two then it makes sense for them to trade.

Re: NFL Casualties
I have no sympathy for the Bengals. They never took advantage of their 2 SB appearances to build the franchise and have always tried to do things on the cheap. At least the new CBA forces them to spend more money.
The thing with Palmer is dumb, given that I'm sure at least 1 or 2 teams out there would probably have offered something worthwhile in a trade. Unlike most other teams, the Bengals think that the best way to engender good player relations is to alienate your teams leadership instead of sitting down with such players and working out a deal. Even Umenyiora has turned up for camp with an understanding the Giants will seek a trade while he sticks to his contract. Why didn't the Bengals say the same to Palmer? It seems in this instance, the Bengals will be the casualty.
