Thanks for this, Mayweather is so relaxed i'm sure this will make Ortiz more nervous, well more than should already be!
I actually think this will be a very good fight.

He says "I don't care about that" about a bazillion times. This along with other things he says, and his general demeanor gave me the impression he's still unaccustomed to the scale of this event. Seems very green in some ways.

Re: Mayweather vs Ortiz Face Off
Ortiz gives the expected and by now quite regular (for a Mayweather opponent) soundbites of how he doesn't care about the size of the task ahead of him, and how the Mayweather may have beaten the other forty-one opponents he's faced, but 'not this one' (even holding up his index digit for dramatic effect). He says something about bringing pressure for every moment of all twelve rounds, at which point Mayweather makes a whip about Ortiz not wanting to knock him out.
Basically, Ortiz came across as keen but green. Makes a big point about how being written off by the press (naming Kellerman specifically) as lacking heart 'ripped out his heart and stomped all over it'. Almost as if he was discussing an ex. Anyway, he then says how that strengthened his resolve.

I've not really heard him speaking before but it's not sounding good, i hope he's taking it serious and not going just to be an opponent.

This. Sums it up well. Not everyone can have the charisma of a Mayweather. Ortiz is pretty raw and not a natural in front of the camera in this instance. He definitely cares though, especially seems to care that Max and co slated him following the Maidana fight.
I dread to think how cringy a certain Mr Khan will be if he ever finds himself in that position...

He'll be game but Mayweather's already won the mental aspect, whether Ortiz realises that or not.

I think it would be worse if he went into some big detailed game plan he had to beat him. Better to keep your cards close to you're chest sometimes imo.

plus, they havent actually got a clue.
mayweather says a lot of rudey poo, but he speaks the truth when he says all his opponents think they have found a way to beat him, but in the ring its a different story.
come up with a plan to beast him and mayweather will figure out a way mid fight to counter act it.

Apparently Ortiz is going to beat him with no game plan and by being badass lol. Ortiz didnt give the best face off, but he will come to war in the ring and is a live underdog. Looking forward to this one

Ortiz doesnt seem fazed. The ignorance of youth i guess! Might not be a bad thing i guess.
Mayweather does look a bit older but doesnt seem as vocally sharp as usual.

Re: Mayweather vs Ortiz Face Off
You'd think to annoy Floyd they should wait for him to mention 41-0 and just interupt him with the name "castillo" whenever he tries to say anything.
"I'm 41-0, 41 have tri-"
"CASTILLO!"
"41 tried and 41-"
"castillo!"
"41, they all fail-"
"CASTillo..."
Neither man really trash talked, Mayweather didn't seem to feel the need and Ortiz was trying to write a love song "Go on, take another little piece of my heart, Maxxy..."

Floyd, as much of a clown as he is, knows how to play these situations to a tee! Great viewing.
Re: Mayweather vs Ortiz Face Off
Guys Ortiz is going up against Floyd the p4p best, of course he is nervous. To be honest Floyd is not playing the bad guy card as much as he did with De La Hoya or Hatton but Ortiz still cannot win when it comes to wit.

Re: Mayweather vs Ortiz Face Off
I really enjoyed that watch.
Of course Ortiz looked a tad nervous but he was honest and kept his cool, couldn't ask more from him.
Floyd was good, confident but without being a jackass which was good to see.
As for the fight, it's all Floyd. Seems obvious, but I think Ortiz has to take that "don't care" attitude and really go for it from the first second. He has to be aggressive on the verge of reckless.
Floyd has not had a knock out, let alone an early KO for a long time and is used to people being cautious. Now, an aggressive guy like Ortiz may play right into his hands but Ortiz won't win any other way.
Get close like Hatton did but make it count and hope that his size, speed and power can somehow unsettle Floyd.
It's all Floyd but could be exciting to watch him under pressure from a bigger guy.

It really annoys me that May after a year break comes back and fights a really top class opponent while Pac continues to fight past there sell by date opponents and to make it worse puts weight catches on them

John the only reason May just scraped a win vs Castillo first time is because he had an injured hand he gave him a rematch and OWEND him so why would anyone mention Castillo

Re: Mayweather vs Ortiz Face Off
I would hardly say he owned Castillo the second time it was still relatively close and the scorecards 115 -113, 115 - 113, 116 - 113, Not exactly what I call owning someone... you could say Carl Froch owned Arthur Abraham, now that was being owned, if it's a close and competetive fight then it's most certainoly not owned, beat him no doubt however.

I'm with you on this one, he doesn't look completely comfortable being sat opposite Flloyd. You never know though, that might be what gives him the extra drive in training, and the edge come fight night?
I liked Ortiz's honest answer about not knowing how he's going to beat him yet, too many boxers have "secret game plans" that never materialise. Got to love Mayweather's line "They put 41 in front of me...41 came up short." The bloke's so god damn cool. I can't help but love him. If the Pacman Mayweather fight ever happens, i've no idea who i'd actually support.

I'd want Manny to beat him, but have to agree he is just too damn cool. Can really see him giving Ortiz a boxing lesson, and he looks to be in his head already. Boxing needs Money Mayweather, and that's why it is so bloody annoying that he takes a 2 year retirement after every fight.

I'd want Mayweather to win, for me he's the more aesthetically pleasing boxer to watch.
Do people think that when we look back at Mayweather's career in years to come the wins after long absences from the ring will be looked at as even more impressive?.

Better boxer, not sure the better fighter, though.
Depends on personal taste, I suppose. I'd want the guy that entertains me the most to win, which is Manny. I appreciate the pure boxing skills of Floyd, but swarmers have always been my favourite to watch.

I actually think it'll be more a case of 'what the hell was he doing taking those layoffs...he could have been a certain top 10 all time great if he had stayed active and beat the very best around'.
Re: Mayweather vs Ortiz Face Off
I always go for perfection whether they be a swarmer, puncher or boxer and Mayweather epitomises that for me to a far greater extent than Pacquiao, as a boxer he's up there with the likes of Leonard and Whitaker but Pacquiao isn't on the same level as the Durans or Chavez's who didn't waste punches.
Boxing is what it says on the tin.

Very true Ghosty, and I don't disagree, but I do enjoy seeing flurries of 6, 7, 8 punches consistently thrown, regardless of whether some are wasted.
It shows unbelievable conditioning, is always edge of the seat stuff, and makes up for the skill deficit that Pacquaio has in comparison to the Mayweather's of this world.

Not my cup of tea really Fists unless it's Meldrick Taylor or Sugar Ray Leonard both of whom were very precise and accurate with their combinations.

Well as Pernell Whitaker is my favourite boxer you can tell which side of the fence I sit in regards to what I find entertaining and for me Floyd is up there in that regards.
I think you've hit the counter to my theory there right on the head Fist, the thought came from the aspect of when we look at boxers who make comebacks after long absences and they get kudos even for loses in such fights as long as they were close. I think at the moment the "whats he doing" feeling is more there it just made me think maybe 20+ years from now if that will still be as true.

I prefer to watch Floyd personally and after a while.... He's starting to grow on me a bit, kinda gtting that feeling I can't help but like him a little bit, he's not really as cocky as I once thought to be honest... He's just very confident of his ability, and really why the hell shouldn't he be?
Rewatched all of his fights the other day (I know I'm a cool guy) and I can't help but admire the way he boxes, just so god damn awesome...

Yeah Dass it'll be interesting to see what the general opinion is around that time. Who knows, we may be sat here debating it then, so we'll find out!
Like I said above, it comes down to personal preference really. I love any style of boxing that is highly effective, and whilst Mayweather's pure boxing is nothing short of masterful at times, Pacquaio has his own highly effective style that works well for him. In short, both are absolutely fantastic to watch.
By the way, isn't it nice to discuss these two particular fighters without one of us feeling the need to tell everyone what dross one of them is?

You're not alone Alex in rewatching his fights, the Gatti fight is a personal favourite of mine in that it was absolutely punch perfect.
