Hey wolfe , it would be boring if we got 500 every time - got to have a collapse now and then to get the pulse racing...
Missed half-chances , overthrows , field scattering : wheels coming off India ?

Unplayable ball for Swanny , think we 'll see a few more of those from our bowlers.
1st decent knock by him for some time.......

Well there goes Swann ! 197/9 - great fightback.
I was getting concerned batting conditions were easing with a view to having to bowl ...but then I see the ball that got Swann! If a medium pacer can do that I reckon the bowlers have plenty more chances to have fun...
3 day Test I reckon.

Well England get over the 200. Not bad considering they were 124\8.

Re: England vs India 2nd Test debate
After geting home and seeing that one that got swann im revising my opinions on the pitch...thats the first one thats done that im aware of but if it starts to get uneven bounce on top of the swing it dosnt matter whos batting on it.
However the way swann was going prior to that shows what a player like yuvraj could do. In a game like this a rapid 50 before the unplayable ball has your name on it can win the game.
Still firmly Indias game, every run Broad can get is vital.

Why did we have to lose 8 wickets before we started playing?
it happens now and again.

Great 50 for Stuart Broad
Anyone left who admits to wanting him dropped?

@activereactive: I know it does...I have been watching England a fair few years. It just never ceases to annoy and frustrate me though.
I have nasty feeling India will show us the kind of total we could have got.

It'd be brilliant if Jimmy could stick around long enough for Broad to get a hundred.

Re: England vs India 2nd Test debate
extremely crucial fight back from Broad and Swann for England. From a sure shot disaster, they have brought England bacck to something close to being respectable. And then there is Jimmy, who can block till eternity. if Broad, with Jimmy takes England to 250, England should actually be happy, remember India are without Sehwag, and of course Gautam Gambhir. Mukund is playing only his 5th test, and both Rahul Dravid and Yuvraj are not regular test openers.

I bet India will, as Trentbridge is Sachin's luckiest ground, he may entertain us with at least one ton (hopefully when I will be there on Sunday to watch him)

Re: England vs India 2nd Test debate
Strauss did great for a number 11 but really we need more from our lower middle order backing up the number 3.

Just how important are these runs from Broad right now. If India also struggle then tese could be seriously important. I confident Broad is also very handy with the ball....

Re: England vs India 2nd Test debate
Broad caught in the deep on 64, England all out for 221. Great knock from Broad, hopefully he can make inroads with the ball as well.
Re: England vs India 2nd Test debate
Oh well. Broad's plucky stand ends as he holes out on 64. Brilliant innings.
If a couple more batsmen had been a bit more positive and aggressive, England could have been on 300-plus.
Still a way short of a decent total and unless our bowlers perform like India's, we could be staring at a big 1st innings deficit.

Eng 221-10
Now India will have to show they are #1 test side with a solid batting line up, and post at leats 430+

Interesting little run to the close of play today, could be very interesting if England grab a few early wickets

Re: England vs India 2nd Test debate
I thought 220 would be unachievable but competitive. 221 is fantastic given the situation, even if India make 300 now. They were bowled out for under 300 twice on a good Lord's pitch.

Re: England vs India 2nd Test debate
Broad's knock was decent nothing more. The ball got older and bowlers got tired. He was slogging with slightly more technique. He's being made out to be the new Gilchrist on Sky Sports.

Re: England vs India 2nd Test debate
221 way more than I expected...97 for the last two wickets !
Key innings of the series coming up : India settle and get a big lead , they're right back in the series ; England skittle them and you can anoint them as number one.
Could go either way - waiting in expectation...

Why do International sides pick batsmen with ordinary techniques to open the batting? We (Australia) stick with Hughes and India have this Mukund. He's barely average with the blade.

Great knock from Broad, and a great first over from Jimmy.
More of the same please, let's get Sachin in tonight, I don't think he'll fancy it.

Pujara had knee surgery, so couldn't play anyway. What about Rahane from Mumbai? He averages 70 in 1st class cricket.activereactive wrote:longhopmerchant wrote:Why do International sides pick batsmen with ordinary techniques to open the batting?
