Tim Brenan is making Kallis in his prime look like Adam Hollioake.

Trebell said this one would be over in 3 days. As a contest it was, and it looks likely that it won't go to the 5th day!
Re: England vs India 2nd Test debate
Nice moment for the young sub fielder. Bet he was relieved to grab that !
Hey , PSW , re Swann , see my clarification above - I am very much a Swann fan !
And I suspect he'll have a bit more chance to get wickets in the 2 remaining matches if the warm weather arrives.

Good Lord!
The wheels are well and truly falling off the Indian tour bus here. Bresnan strikes again, getting Raina caught for just 1. India now 37-4.
This could well be all over today. Another crushing defeat is now on the cards.

First ball, edged, falls short.
You may just get your wish, at this rate, mate!
Good luck with the interview, too.

India are looking lost without their regular opening combo. Mukund doesn't look Test standard and with Dravid and Laxman moving up the order, the lower order has no experience.

Re: England vs India 2nd Test debate
This one fast slipping away from India, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman are out, Gautam Gambhir isn't available, in these situations, Sachin Tendulkar usually doesn't play with the kind of freedom that he is capable of, and goes into a shel and get out after staying out there for some time.
So India can say bye to this one, its just a matter of whether today or tomorrow.
Now to more serious things. This series so far has been a complete disaster. for the next test there should be some changes. hopefully Sehwag, Gambhir and Zaheer will be fit and available, and they should walk in place of Mukund, Raina? and Sharma?
The other change should be dropping Harbhajan for anyone else, Mishra, Kartik who's available in England, or anyone else, or play with 10 players.
The tough calls surround Yuvraj, Raina, Ishant and Sreesanth. Raina played a good hand in the last match, Yuvraj did the same here.unless Raina doesn't do something remarkable Yuvraj gets the clearance for the next match, as he has been the best Indian spinner on view in the series so far. Both Yuvraj nd Raina are not quite there with their batting in test matches, but Yuvraj adds something to the rather weak Indian bowling.
Ishant Sharma has picked up wickets in England and the West Indies, but he had some pretty lackluster spels in between, Sree looked better of the 2, and for me he should make it ahead of Sharma.
the other one is pretty clear, first drop him then think of a replacement. if nothing else, Ravi Shastri is around, even he can do a better job.

Is it a conspiracy from the Indian batsmen to stop Tendulkar getting his landmark by getting out before he can

Tendulkar hasn't gone into his shel as yet, if he gets some form back, at least there will be something India can take from this match, India needs him to e back in touch in the next given opportunity itself.

Re: England vs India 2nd Test debate
Dhoni has had a bit of a tough time in test cricket in recent months, the typical consistency is not quite there, although he made one decent contribution with the bat in the WI, and scored a 90 against SA and a 98 against NZ.
But in this series, the pressure is geting into the captain cool, and he has to make a major Dhoniish contribution pretty soon. To call for his head will be a serious over reaction.

Re: England vs India 2nd Test debate
Would there be a case for India going with 4 seamers for the next match and relying on Yuvraj to be the spinner? Its risky if there is turn in the wickets, but so far theres been nothing for any slow bowlers.
Seamers do the damage for India, but it seems they are getting tired eaily and losing their way. Khan coming back in would be a big risk in a 3 seamer attack, he shouldnt have been risked in the first test. With 4 seamers the workload would be lessened and youd get the best of each bowler.
It would be tough on Sharma to get dropped, he has a good test record and adds variety to the attack.
Mukund must be dropped if Gambhir is ready to come back, especially is Sehwag is too. I think Harbies been harshly judged by some but hes been poor for some time and now carrying an injury too. A rest as much as anything.
India can be much better than this.

Re: England vs India 2nd Test debate
Surely not going to dump the skipper, msp...
He seems to be suffering a bit from the pressure caused by his team's struggles, both with injuries and with a poor start to the tour. Perhaps his concentration is just not there at present , because ,batting aside , his glovework has varied from ordinary to appalling. I think he's better than that.
Speaking of injuries , now Yuvraj is looking rather battered ...just not going India's way ...

Clutching at straws?
Anyway, looks like if we can't get them out, we'll just break your batsmen instead.

Re: England vs India 2nd Test debate
Don't think India will go with 4 pacers, although I won't personally be opposed to such a move. The spin reserves tht India have isn't great by any standards, but Amit Mishra bowls leggies, and by playing him may be India can remind the English of someone else who bowled a few of those with decent success against them!!!!!.

Tell me its Yurajs bowling hand and hes out the next test, actually that would be awful.
He's showing some fight out there, payback for the 36 I guess. Nice to see some toughness and grit.

Broad is back to his Short self, he has to be careful here, of course Yuvraj is struggling out there big time, but Broad shouldn't forget the times before this series.

2 different games going on out there : Yuvraj hanging on by his toenails after the first four were blown away...and Tendulkar calmly collecting boundaries seemingly at will ...hasn't had a great couple of matches but I think he might be playing himself into some form here ...

I play golf all morning and get back to this? Wow!
Well played Bres. I'm sorry for doubting you at 8!
Would like sachin to go on to make his hundreth hundred with us winning here. Already thinking of ratings cf... Is trott fit?

I like the way you think!
In all seriousness though I'm actually starting to feel a little sorry for India. This match has been pretty 1-sided since yesterday. I hope England put them out of their misery by the end of today. At least everyone will then have an extra day to rest and recuperate for the next game.

Yuvraj gone. Another short ball he pops it up, and Cook who was brought into close on the off-side that very ball takes a fine catch over his shoulder. Fine bowling, fine captaincy. England showing the killer instinct.

not much of a captain's innings there alfie. Dhoni leaves it, but it swings back in late, and he's out LBW. Only question is would it have gone over the top?

Harbhajan on a King-pair ... but we'll have to wait an over...and Sachin has taken one to Broad so he won't have to face the hat trick ball first up.

Oof!
Yuvraj really should learn to duck more...that was almost inevitable.
...and speaking of ducks, skipper Dhoni gets a golden one! Tim Bresnan repeating Broads heroics from the 1st innings. Give that man a biscuit!
India now 56-6 and the end is well and truly nigh.
