OWGR - Week#31
Congrats to Scott Stallings, Simon Dyson and Yuta Ikeda for their wins this week!!!
As predicted, Rory drops to 5th spot and Tiger 'slumps' to 28th!
Will be interesting to see how these two will fare at Bridgestone next week.
And a great surge by Dyson into the top 50 with all the goodies that come with it,
but Webb Simpson misses it by a whisker.
Ikeda-san is quickly correcting that slump from last week with a jump back up to #60.
Scott Stallings win should see him jumping up to ~top 120.

Re: OWGR - Week#31
Woof, Paradise Lost for Webb Simpson, but surprised that Brian Davis has good (let's hope) news.
Great work pd, hopefully 606v2 recognises that you're on top of this in a way that the rest of media can only dream of.

Re: OWGR - Week#31
I hadn't realised but the PGA Of America published the initial field for their PGA Champo on Thursday, hoovering up all the top 92 or so in the owgr's. So Horsey and Larrazabal are in, Gainey, Senden etc still have to be confirmed.
Gallacher and Stallings will need to be added and it looks like Brian Davis lucked out. Wonder if de Jonge will make it, still awaiting confirmation of that. And there are one or two others also who will book their travel to Altanta.

Re: OWGR - Week#31
Thanks kwini. I'll have to think where I will go next with this as it's taking a lot of time and energy to keep on top of it and working properly...
Ross Fisher withdraws from Bridgestone... Family always comes first, no question, but you have to feel a bit for the guy, he doesn't seem to be getting too many breaks in terms of finding a good balance between family and carreer matters over the past two years or so... Hopefully his son will be ok though...

This little corner of the admin team is very pleased to see the great work put in by PD

Re: OWGR - Week#31
Bridgestone looks pretty much set to be a 76 pointer, same as last year.
Luke is making the race to #1 a bit boring lately... Lee is the only one who could catch him at Firestone and only if he wins it, with Luke finishing outside the top 6.
Tiger and Matteo can move as high as #9 and #10 respectively with wins.
But the biggest leap could belong to Mr. Jae-Bum Park, the lowest ranked in the field (I think), who can just about sneak into the top 50 with a (highly unlikely) win (currently #223)...

Re: OWGR - Week#31
Mr.Bum is a new name to me.
pd,
Did you see the owgr site dated July 25th and minor adjustments to policy, mainly regarding the awarding of points to minor Aussie and Saffer events?
I wish they'd include South and Central America; still a possibility of the PGA Tour staging a South America event in the next few years, certainly before the Rio Olympics.

Re: OWGR - Week#31
Yes, I saw those changes kwini...
But regarding South American Tour, it seems there is one in place with official owgr points on offer after all (?!) I came across this a while ago, but forgot to mention to you... There's an example (see the last page)
http://dps.endavadigital.net/owgr/doc/content/archive/2011/Week17/owgr17w2011.pdf
They're at the 6 point to the winner level, same as Canada, etc...

Re: OWGR - Week#31
pd, Thanks for that about South America; I wonder if that's new as previously I'd checked out events that Cabrera, Franco, Romeros etc had played and no credit for their performances, and I'd read that the tournaments down there did not conform to owgr standards, whatever they are.
Doesn't matter now, Good News, Thanks!
(I think that Fish update is a couple of days old - I know it's dated 3/8 but is exactly the same as Monday's bulletin!)

Re: OWGR - Week#31
A couple of very early owgr projections (dedicated to GJ)
If Scott wins he should get into the top 10. In theory he could go as high as #8, but with Jason and Watney playing as well as they do, that may be a bit optimistic.
And if Jason wins, he can move as high as #3 in the world...

Re: OWGR - Week#31
While coincidentally, fellow Aussie Nick O'Hern leads in Reno, and he could leap from 204 to about 120 should he hang on (for three more rounds!).

Indeed kwini, O'Hern could move as high as #118 with a win...

Re: OWGR - Week#31
Well, if it stays like this, Mr. Tiger's return not only that it won't help him creep up back the owgr ranks, but he could very well be sliding a couple of places further down before the USPGA...
It's early days yet, but an Ishikawa win here tomorrow will cause, I'm sure, nothing less than an explosion of joy over in JP, his charitable funds for the eartquake victims will rocket and on top of that he'll end up in the top 20 players in the world.
Alternatively, kwini's neighbour Keegan Bradley will jump up into the low 40's if he wins it instead...

Re: OWGR - Week#31
We currently have a Vermonter leading the Bridgestone, and another in fourth place on the Nationwide. Heady days for the golfing Green Mountain State!
Nice to see Simon Dyson trying when so many of his compadres are mailing it in.

I won't go into what happens with Luke's owgr position if he wins, it's too complicated...
But Freddie on the othe hand could leap into the top 20...

While a win for The Laird would have him leapfrog Casey and Poulter.

He would move ahead of KJ as well, which these days sounds much more impressive than overtaking Casey and Poults...kwinigolfer wrote:While a win for The Laird would have him leapfrog Casey and Poulter.

Thanks pd,
Am also hopeful that Russell Knox might squeak into the top 300 and that Trevor Murphy might get to about #800.
Lots to play for!

Re: OWGR - Week#31
A top 10 would more or less be good enough for Knox to get to top 300, but a win would propell him right just below the top 200 line...
Trevor with a top 10 should get close to #750... but a win will push him into top 400.
