Re: Favorite Tv Shows of all time
Heroes (well the first season in particular)
Misfits
Peep Show
Extras
Doctor Who (most of the time)
Family Guy (not so much anymore)
Sherlock
I think I'm definetly more of a comedy guy than serious programs to be honest.

The West Wing. Best television programme I've ever seen. Fantastically filmed with probably the deepest cast of top quality characters on TV.

Blackadder, Scrubs, Father Ted, Firefly, Battlestar Galactica (original, but the new one was pretty good for a couple of seasons)
Oh, and The Sky at Night.

Seconded, at least for the first 3 series while Aaron Sorkin was writing and producing. - when US television gets it right, they get is so very right.
The West Wing was also helped by having a far better (and very strongly contrasting) fictional President in Jed Bartlett than the US had at the time (Dubya).
Good to also see Hill Street Blues remembered - great show of its time.
Also someone should mention M*A*S*H - again brilliantly written and acted, and exrtacting humour and pathos out of the blackest situations.
Best programmes ever made for British TV?
Yes Minister / Yes Prime Minister
Fawlty Towers

Oh, and back to the main poster's list:
Band of Brothers is about a thousand times better than The Pacific - and to give you a clue of how good BoB was, I'd rate The Pacific as the best show I've seen in the last 3 years. It just lacks the narrative thread that made Band of Brothers such a compelling series (probably because The Pacific was based on a combination of two books by guys in different companies whose paths didn't really cross).

Re: Favorite Tv Shows of all time
Just finished watching all 5 series of "The Wire" on DVD, and would watch it all again if it was rescreened tomorrow.
I rate it more highly than even The West Wing.
Easily the best TV show I have ever seen,

Re: Favorite Tv Shows of all time
Battlestar Galactica (reboot)
Strangely enough, I haven't seen anything past the first two series. But those first two series were good enough to make it my favourite TV series of all time.
The fact that it was attacked by both sides of the political spectrum for its depiction of torture just goes to show how relevant it was in a time when waterboarding was being approved by the Bush/Cheney administration in the US.
Absolutely magnificent television right there.
Comedy-wise, it took me a while to get into Seinfeld, because Jerry reminded me too much of a guy I really disliked at school. But it was pure genius.
Red Dwarf at its best was just amazing, too.
