New deal made Bougy sick
MADJID BOUGHERRA fired a parting shot at Rangers last night - claiming he quit because their contract offer made him sick.
The Algerian defender completed a three-year deal with Qatari outfit Lekhwiya at the weekend.
Bougherra was offered a contract extension in a last-gasp attempt to persuade him to extend his three-year stay in Glasgow.
But the 28-year-old claims it was only a two-year deal on virtually the same money - and insists he could not sign it after Allan McGregor, Steven Davis and Steven Whittaker landed longer, more lucrative contracts.
Bougherra - who'll earn £35,000 a week tax-free in the Gulf state - said: "I was going around in circles.
"I was in my last year with Rangers and I had choices to make. Either I stayed until the end of the season with the risk that I get seriously injured along the way and find myself without a club next season, or leave, or extend my contract at Rangers. The proposed extension had the same financial terms as my present contract - virtually the same pay.
"It wasn't what I was expecting, especially at my age.
"Also, I was offered an extension of two years, while two or three players got a fiveyear contract. It made me feel sick in my heart."
Despite his blast, Bougy insists he loved life at Gers.
He said: "Rangers is a wonderful club where I won all the titles and where I played in the Champions League. But I needed a new challenge, to find something else to learn. I hoped that it would come from a European club, but it was not to be.
"Lekhwiya have been interested in me for two years. I love the way they treat and respect Algerians."
Bougherra is set to work for the Qatari World Cup 2022 project when he hangs up his boots.
He said: "There are opportunities. The Qataris recognise my value on and off the pitch."

What an absolute fud. He was pretty decent but nowhere near as good as he thinks he is.

Sour grapes, probably why he decided to elbow the guy and get sent off, making sure we didn't get through, Steven Whittaker is no better, i would sideline him until he starts playing better anyway.

I'm suprised he didn't give any of them a chance in the European games, if he isn't going to sign the numbers they were making out at first, then the youngsters need to be given a chance.

How can you sideline someone until they start playing better? The only way to find out is by actually playing them

Whats more worrying is according to Sky, Whitters has a broken toe but is gonna play on?!
As for Boogie, his heart wasn't in it last year or for the fortnight before and after any Algeria game. Cracking player when he can be bothered but happy to see the back of him to be honest.

You can't i suppose, you can to show them they need to get the finger out and stop throwing the ball at people 18 minutes into a European game, we don't have the numbers to drop him unfortunately, or he'd be the first one for me.

Worrying isn't it, we're struggling for cover at the moment and was suprised no subs were used in the European games, maybe McCoist was trying to make a point to Whyte, a few of the guys were out on their feet and some of the youngsters were more than capable to play in both games.

Re: New deal made Bougy sick
True, but with the 1.7m or whatever we got for boogie, and the extra 15 or whatever million whyte said was available why do we continue to wind clubs up to the point they pretty much refuse to do business with us and our cheeky bids? Whytes at it i think, Ally's surely no that thick?
As for the youngsters, for me Wylde and Ness proved themselves last year, am sure Hutton will to but don't think he played as much as the other 2? As great as Walter is/was, it was frustrating he wouldn't give youth a chance till he absolutely had to. Hope Ally's not gonna do the same thing

Do you really think £15m is there? I think Rangers might spend around £6m but then they'll include wages ect... Into the figures

If we have this 15 million kicking around how come I heard that we had the boys in black with transits pay us a visit last week?

There's no way he has 15 million or he wouldn't be putting in bids at 100 and odd thousand for players.

I also think the deals for Davis and McGregor will be included into those figures
