surrey vs kent county championship division 2
First topic message reminder :
Chris Jordan is included as Surrey name a twelve man squad to take on Kent at Canterbury in the LV= County Championship match beginning on Wednesday.
The young all-rounder replaces Stuart Meaker, who is currently unavailable for selection due to his involvement with the England Lions. Arun Harinath also misses out, in the only two changes to the squad that made the successful trip to Cheltenham in Surrey’s last LV= County Championship match.
Jade Dernbach is once again available for selection after missing last week’s victory over Northamptonshire in the Clydesdale Bank 40.
The full Surrey squad to face Kent in the LV= County Championship at Canterbury from Wednesday 10th August to Saturday 13th August is:
Rory Hamilton-Brown (Captain)
Steven Davies (Wicket Keeper)
Mark Ramprakash
Zander De Bruyn
Tom Maynard
Jason Roy
Zafar Ansari
Gareth Batty
Yasir Arafat
Tim Linley
Jade Dernbach
Chris Jordan
would think jordan likely to miss out from the 12
very harsh still on harinath 1 game and dropped

and to think, some of us were quite happy when we got them out for 266 on day one - who'd have thunk they'd have won by an innings and plenty with that score

I seem to remember part time bowler van Jaarsveld winning a game for them against us with his only ever 5 wicket haul

Hi all - just found this forum at last!
Have to say that was an awful batting display by Surrey. Last year we couldn't bowl teams out - this year we can, but we have batting collapses like this. Shameful.

Re: surrey vs kent county championship division 2
Well, where to start?
That was well and truly dreadful. The bowlers did pretty well but had absolutely no back up from the batsmen, bar a couple of Hyphen cameos. It seems like all you have to do to get us out cheaply is bowl accurate medium pace! Like I said yesterday this has not been a common occurrence, usually there is a fightback/counter attack at some point that just never came. Did seem like there was some controversy over the umpires decisions regarding light - did Churchy come back on the air in the end? Very unusual for him to be so critical.
I'm trying to not be too despondant as this kind of thing has not been happening this season but I really am disappointed that the fight, character and spirit that I thought we had as a side just seemed to disappear over the last 2 days.
Well done to The Viscount, he continues to not only be Mr. reliable but also he has got some seriously decent stats now this season, first name on the team sheet now for me.
Just a quick stat to add to the depressing nature of this evening:
Rob Keys average this season excluding games against Surrey = 30.82
His average against Surrey this season: 112.67

Just as well I was out all afternoon. A truly shocking display of batting.
Hello kingdaveeagle. Welcome to the forum - although not a very auspicious day for any Surrey supporters.
No chance of Depressedsurreyfan changing his name for a good while yet...

Gloucs look like they are going to lose by buckets against Derby (4th from bottom) on Saturday.
How are Surrey getting on against Kent (2nd to bottom)?

Re: surrey vs kent county championship division 2
KDE - There's a good number of Surrey supporters on this site. (A few are on their hols at the moment.) Only thing really to be aware of is to be cautious about mentioning by name a certain Surrey and former Lancs spinner when Depressedsurreyfan is around - as it can have an adverse effect on his fragile state of mind! Fortunately the said player hasn't been selected for the cc for most of the season which has somewhat eased that situation...
Listening to Adams post match interview on the Surrey website I thought he seemed pretty much lost for anything to say and kept repeating himself. Brief reference to conditions being difficult and I thought a veiled reference to having to play through some poor light. And mentioning that if you take Key out the scorecards Kent didn't bat much better.....
Roll on the next away match in the CB 40

gooch - given that the first wicket put on 54 in our first innings, it was actually 177-20. There's a challenge for the England bowlers in the Fourth Test
