surrey vs kent county championship division 2

First topic message reminder :

Chris Jordan is included as Surrey name a twelve man squad to take on Kent at Canterbury in the LV= County Championship match beginning on Wednesday.
The young all-rounder replaces Stuart Meaker, who is currently unavailable for selection due to his involvement with the England Lions. Arun Harinath also misses out, in the only two changes to the squad that made the successful trip to Cheltenham in Surrey’s last LV= County Championship match.
Jade Dernbach is once again available for selection after missing last week’s victory over Northamptonshire in the Clydesdale Bank 40.
The full Surrey squad to face Kent in the LV= County Championship at Canterbury from Wednesday 10th August to Saturday 13th August is:

He's on a par with De Bruyn in my opinion - someone who might get the odd wicket or two every now and then.
So our 'strong' batting line up has been blown away by a part time bowler

Even in my wildest most pessimistic dreams I didn't think we'd be a/o for 127 after being 50/0. Absolutely ridiculous! It seems all my worrying about a big partnership for Kent stopped me worrying about another one of their non frontline bowlers getting his best ever figures after Denly did it in the reverse fixture.

We're going to lose this. Heavily.

cant argue with that carrot the funny thing is before the game started you would have thought it would have been the other way round.

Yep. In their slight defence, I can only think of 1 other innings against Middlesex where we completely capitulated this season. We haven't got enough big scores in first innings but we have usually had a competitive total.

Not sure why Key is so 'portly' (I know that's rich coming from me!) but he's only scored 4 boundaries in his 88 not out................so far!

You're right, of course, Goochie - we might have been chasing 335 instead of 370, but that difference is academic.

If we we want to be optimistic this could be a reverse of the earlier cc match between these two teams: Surrey had a sizeable first innings lead, batted poorly in the second and Kent facing a largish total (?320 ish) batted well but fell narrowly short.

Somehow I can't see our getting 370 but you never know

Goochie You could just be right....

Steven Davies has only three 50s in 12 games this season, at an average of 28. Didn't he average about 20 more than that last season? Let's hope he gets his mojo back in the next 4 or 5 weeks.

Davies batting average is now lower than Batty and Arafat! If he wasn't the wicket keeper I don't think he'd 'keep' his place!

Churchy saying the umpires are being inconsistent about the light: it's darker now than it was when they went off after lunch; conversely it was much lighter 24 hours ago when the umpires kept play suspended. Very rare for Church to point any blame at anyone, let alone the officials, so I'm guessing this is pretty atrocious umpiring.
