After losing their first wicket for 69 with a terrible mix up for a run out, India have settled into batting now and are currently 151-1

Re: Cricket World Cup. Day by Day
India cruised to an 87-run victory over Bangladesh in the opening match of the World Cup in Mirpur on Saturday.
Virender Sehwag smashed his highest one-day score as his side sought revenge over Bangladesh for India's five-wicket defeat in the previous World Cup.
Sehwag hit an adventurous 175 off 140 balls while Virat Kohli's unbeaten century helped India reach their mammoth total of 370-4 in the marquee tournament.
Chasing the improbable target of nearly seven-and-a-half runs an over, Bangladesh responded with opener Tamim Iqbal leading the run-chase with an impressive 70, while captain Shakib Al Hasan posted a quick-fire half-century.
The valiant effort saw the Tigers claim 283-9 after 50 overs - their fourth highest total in a World Cup - but it was not enough to top tournament favourites India from laying down an impressive marker in their first Group B match.

Goodo, Sehwag is in my battrick fantasy team, so 175 is very nice indeed! Also have Zaheer Khan as my second Indian (we're only allowed two per country) and he picked up a couple of wickets, so a productive day for me...

Paceman Hamish Bennett took 4-16 as New Zealand thrashed Kenya by 10 wickets in their opening World Cup group game.
Tim Southee (3-13) and Jacob Oram (3-2) each claimed three wickets as the African side were bowled out for 69 in 23.5 overs after choosing to bat.
New Zealand needed only eight overs to knock off the runs, with Martin Guptill scoring 39 and fellow opener Brendon McCullum adding 26 in Chennai.
Kenya's total was the fifth-lowest in the history of the tournament.
Sri Lanka won the toss this morning and decided to bat against Canada and are currently 47-0

Canada lost John Davison first ball in the second over and were 122 all out, paceman Nuwan Kulasekera taking 3-16.

Anyone watching the Aus-Zim match?
A bit of a slow start from the Aussies...Zimbabwe stiffling the scoring with spin early on.

Be interesting after the collapse the other day to see how the Aussies cope.
Still, they should skittle out the Zimbabwe lot fairly easily.

Netherlands are set for a decent total against England after Ryan Ten Doschate hit 119 off 110 balls.

Tense win for England yesterday. The bowling and fielding were just dire, but at least the batting went well. Hopefully it was just a blow away the cobwebs type match but I'm worried Anderson has nothing left in the tank.
In today's game Pakistan look set to build a decent score against Kenya

Dreadful performance by England - almost embarrassing to witness. Fielding and bowling were abysmal and they were lucky to scrape a win.

Completely agree, why we are even considered as outside favourites is beyond me. The ODI team needs a complete shake up.
Yardy has been a terrific performer in ODI's and 20/20 for the last year but doesn't get a look in for the WC, and although ravi saved our blushes, i still don't rate him as a batsmen.

India win the toss and bat first against England, with Stuart Broad out due to illness and Ravi Bopara replaced by Michael Yardy.
Fingers crossed for you guys, but i cant see anything other than an India win

Anderson still looks cooked, Bresnan bowling well. England have pulled it back a little after a fast start, but India on course for a big score

Re: Cricket World Cup. Day by Day
I'd have taken this result before the game, and if you'd offered it to me at the change of innings I'd have bitten your hand off. Shame they couldn't finish the job in the last ten overs, but great spirit from the lower order players to hit 28 from the last two overs.
Not impressed by India's out cricket: missed singles, some poor fielding and a run short is something you don't want to see in U11s. Their bowling is fairly average too, Munaf is OK, Chawla has a good googly but an ordinary legbreak and bowls too many loose balls, their fifth bowler is rubbish. Fantastic batting line-up though!
Australia are still my favourites...

I've just seen Malinga bowling, can someone explain to me why he is not called for a no ball when he bowls, it seems to me that his arm is coming through at about ten past the hour and slightly crooked

Re: Cricket World Cup. Day by Day
Law 24 (No Ball) states:
Having read that, take another look at his bowling action. I suspect if the umpires do have any suspicions about his action they are supposed to report it to the ICC.
Provided he does not straighten his arm from when it reaches the shoulder then it is NOT a throw
2. Fair delivery - the arm
For a delivery to be fair in respect of the arm the ball must not be thrown. See 3 below.
Although it is the primary responsibility of the striker's end umpire to ensure the fairness of a delivery in this respect, there is nothing in this Law to debar the bowler's end umpire from calling and signalling No ball if he considers that the ball has been thrown.
(a) If, in the opinion of either umpire, the ball has been thrown, he shall
(i) call and signal No ball.
(ii) caution the bowler, when the ball is dead. This caution shall apply throughout the innings.
(iii) inform the other umpire, the batsmen at the wicket, the captain of the fielding side and, as soon as practicable, the captain of the batting side of what has occurred.
(b.) If either umpire considers that after such caution a further delivery by the same bowler in that innings is thrown, the umpire concerned shall repeat the procedure set out in (a) above, indicating to the bowler that this is a final warning. This warning shall also apply throughout the innings.
© If either umpire considers that a further delivery by the same bowler in that innings is thrown,
(i) the umpire concerned shall call and signal No ball. When the ball is dead he shall inform the other umpire, the batsmen at the wicket and, as soon as practicable, the captain of the batting side of what has occurred.
(ii) the umpire at the bowler's end shall direct the captain of the fielding side to take the bowler off forthwith. The over shall be completed by another bowler, who shall neither have bowled the previous over nor be allowed to bowl the next over.
The bowler thus taken off shall not bowl again in that innings.
(iii) the umpires together shall report the occurrence as soon as possible to the Executive of the fielding side and any Governing Body responsible for the match, who shall take such action as is considered appropriate against the captain and bowler concerned.
3. Definition of fair delivery - the arm
A ball is fairly delivered in respect of the arm if, once the bowler's arm has reached the level of the shoulder in the delivery swing, the elbow joint is not straightened partially or completely from that point until the ball has left the hand. This definition shall not debar a bowler from flexing or rotating the wrist in the delivery swing.
Having read that, take another look at his bowling action. I suspect if the umpires do have any suspicions about his action they are supposed to report it to the ICC.
Provided he does not straighten his arm from when it reaches the shoulder then it is NOT a throw

Morning all, good start by England, rattling along at close to 7 runs per over, though Strauss has fallen. Pietersen has 59, England 110-1 at drinks after 16.
