Upul Tharanga

Tharanga has just a served 3 month drugs ban, hadnt played any cricket since the world cup final, and suddenly put straight back into the lankans odi side..

am i the only one who thinks thats bad.

i think its bad, cos it shows the board dont want to try anyone else, also its almost rewarding him by putting him stragiht back into the side

Rubbish the guy was in awesome form up until his ban, scored numerous hundreds, he's a superb fielder etc. He has to play.

He was in terrific form before the ban plus Sri Lanka really could do with a opener to partner Dilshan.

What did he actually get banned for taking? If it was a performance enhancer then a 3 month ban is short and from a moral perspective his fast return is questionable, I think thats the argument cricketfans trying to make not one based on his ability.
Sri Lanka did miss him, but sometimes theres bigger questions. Still its not like he got caught drug trafficking and contracted an STD like a certain Pakistani.

I thought it was slightly odd - especially considering that Mahela had done well opening against England.

I remember reading about Tharanga getting banned, and it was something to do with his asthma pump. In all honesty unless he's using nitrous oxide in his pump, his doctor has let him down badly. Ref to nitrous is a joke

Well it looks like you should be used to make decking because the subtances that were found in his urine sample are steroids, thats why they are on the banned list.

how many times its not about the form. Its about the fact that he took steroids and only got 3 month ban, sri lanka board should have stuck with jaywardene at the top or tried someone else to teach him a lesson!

No reason not to include him. He did something wrong, he was punished. He has served his punishment and therefore perfectly within his rights to be picked again. If SL had been in a position of winning every game and getting consistent runs then I'm sure he wouldn't have come straight back in.

Been a interesting series so far

will be intresting to see what happens in the rest of the series

I like the way this guy Tharanga bats. He's a bit of a poor mans Sangakkara, but he's a very fine player none the less.
