Union Cane's Prediction Cup - The Final Result - Winner : alma
First topic message reminder :
I'm toying with the idea of running a knockout cup competition alongside the new Premiership / Championship Prediction Leagues, this is just a test event to iron out any potential problems with the stadia and transport network et cetera.
The idea is to use Wednesday Night Fights for the cup competition, this will mean a limited choice and a lot of unheard of fighters, so it might fall flat on its face, but if it doesn't work I'll know not to bother with it when the next season kicks off.
So, I need 16 volunteers for the test event, once we have the 16 I will do the draw and then put the fights up for you to predict.

The Final
We are going on a five day trip around the world for The Final, visiting all four corners of the globe.
The fights are as follows :
A - Sunday 4th September - Tanzania
1. Bakari Mohamed v. Ramadhani Shauri (8) - Ramadhani Shauri W PTS

Alma scores an impressive 8 points, having predicted both remaining fights would end in decisions, whilst sodhat scores a solitary 1 point for predicting that Shauri would beat Mohamed. That's quite a lead after the first card, has alma got this in the bag already?

Some quality blind picking here!
As per predictions above, but with both Flechero and Maguinto beating their new opponents by UD.
I can't be letting you change your predictions I'm afraid, its against the rules and the fight could have already happened for all I know. Not that I'm accusing you of skulduggery of course. Anyone who has picked either Blanca or Columna (and there are those that have, believe it or not) will now be supporting Mondala and Paulino.

Sort it out Union is like watching Captain Mainwaring at work here, a farce would flatter it. To think this is the same man who rose so majestically during the reverse linear days is tragic.

Union this is a problem of your own creation, you had measures in place to deal with cancellations, everyone who was bothered to read your original thread knew those measures. Now man up and tell people those original rules will be observed if they don't like it they can sod right off, they will respect your steady air of authority in the long run.

Re: Union Cane's Prediction Cup - The Final Result - Winner : alma
They aren't cancellations though, the fights are still kind of sort of happening, albeit without 50% of the original line up. I've gone and said I won't void them now, so I can hardly turn round and say that they are void after originally saying that they are void and then that they are unvoid. You are right though, I have made this mess myself and right now I can't see a way out of it.

Re: Union Cane's Prediction Cup - The Final Result - Winner : alma
The fights are not happening though Union. I bought a ticket for Haye vs Klitschko in 2009 Haye pulled out, Chaguev stepped in, the fight did not therefore kind of happen or happen a bit or 50% happen a different fight happened, just because one of the original participants is in it, it is still a different fight. This is exactly the kind of thing the polish card was put on the list for, you have allowed for this.

Right, sod it then, as per the rules (copies available upon receipt of a written request), if there is a change of opponent then the fight is declared void.
Fights 4 and 5 are void.
To confirm, fights 4 and 5 are now void.

Maybe we will meet later on in the competition jeff, and see who the better man really is. If you make it that far.....

Looking at the draw would appear, subject to any arbitrary Union rule changes we are due to meet in the final, I wouldn't hold your breathe mate.

Listen up, the first result is in from Manila, although it is the womens fight that I didn't include in the game.
Carleans Rivas, in her professional debut, has beaten the previously undefeated Honey Mae Bermoy by UD over four two-minute rounds.
Well done Carleans.

Just think, the animosity in the buildup would make for great viewing figures for the final.
That is assuming, once I have despatched with bellchees, that Union doesn't rig my match with him.

All in good nature Alma, am making a rod for my own back though giving it the big un in what amounts to a guessing game, suspect a healthy dose of humble pie will be on the menu for me soon.

I won't be in it anyway. A cursory glance at mine and bellchees predictions tells me that things are not looking good for me so far. I need a couple of nailed on the head victories for to progress.

Gonna be close this one. Excellent idea for this competition by the way, it's far more entertaining than the work I should be doing.

Agreed Sodhat, is like a low rent version of Soccer Saturday, although at the risk of causing offence would have to say Union is a pretty poor Jeff Stelling

So he's more like that funny looking fella that sits in on weeknights when Stelling is off in dictionary corner?

Yeah but not anyone they would get in on a champions league or premiership evening, more the kind of presenter who does it when there are five games in league two and a couple of Johnson paint cup replays.

Oh, I see, and when it's shown only on Sky Sports News so as not to take up the important channels and the only studio guest is Perry Groves.
