Union Cane's Prediction Cup - The Final Result - Winner : alma
First topic message reminder :
I'm toying with the idea of running a knockout cup competition alongside the new Premiership / Championship Prediction Leagues, this is just a test event to iron out any potential problems with the stadia and transport network et cetera.
The idea is to use Wednesday Night Fights for the cup competition, this will mean a limited choice and a lot of unheard of fighters, so it might fall flat on its face, but if it doesn't work I'll know not to bother with it when the next season kicks off.
So, I need 16 volunteers for the test event, once we have the 16 I will do the draw and then put the fights up for you to predict.

The Final
We are going on a five day trip around the world for The Final, visiting all four corners of the globe.
The fights are as follows :
A - Sunday 4th September - Tanzania
1. Bakari Mohamed v. Ramadhani Shauri (8) - Ramadhani Shauri W PTS

Injury and illness decimated the line up (I should think), and only 3 fights survived, one of which was drawn. Alma scores an impressive 8 points, having predicted both remaining fights would end in decisions, whilst sodhat scores a solitary 1 point for predicting that Shauri would beat Mohamed. That's quite a lead after the first card, has alma got this in the bag already?

Re: Union Cane's Prediction Cup - The Final Result - Winner : alma
Due to the ad hoc nature of the way this started, the seedings on this occasion do not reflect the ability (or lack thereof) of the contestants concerned.
I figured it was better to do a seeded draw than sit here at my desk picking numbered bits of paper out of my coffee mug looking like a right plum.
Rest assured, seedings for the tournament proper will be based on final finishing positions in the League, so you will more than likely be #2 coxy.

Luck/guesswork: 99%
Knowledge: 1%
That's based on having done zero research. The 1% comes about for correctly stating EKO/UD etc and knowing what their respective abbreviations mean.

That's based on having done zero research. The 1% comes about for correctly stating EKO/UD etc and knowing what their respective abbreviations mean.

That's everybody's predictions in then (apart from oxring's E's and L's).
Just noticed that Lowie Bantigue has 7 draws. Might have missed a trick there.
Anyway, too late to do anthing about it now, good luck!!

Sadly not, they are re-running some witless cage-fighting for £10 a pop.
I'll sit here refreshing boxrec, not quite the same as being there but it'll do.

Does this mean I will not get chance to win a Lowey Bantigue T shirt, damn it

Just noticed that two of the fighters have been replaced, Rennel Flechero is now fighting Mabert Paulino instead of Jessie Blanca, and Armin Columna has dropped out of his fight with Karlo Maguinto and has been replaced by Edwin Mondola.
In accordance with the rules, these two fights are now void.

Why not just use the new fighters for the results? No-one knows who any of them are anyway.
If people have actually done any research, then more fool them.

Yes I have the rules are the rules and I expect you to stick with them, honestly with how upset you got with Tshirtgate cannot believe you would even begin to consider disregarding the published rules in this manner. The sooner Young Trouser reappears to set up an alternative tournament the better

Union, I think Jeff is only objecting because it is me who suggested it. We have fallen out on another thread and he clearly has a grudge now.
Anyway, you do what you feel is correct Mr Cane. It is your dream, we are just living in it.

Been waiting for an excuse Tino since you overtook me on the footy, overtaking my lead was one thing but asking for the scores to be re-published just so everyone could see you had overtaken me was a step too far, a line was crossed with that one.

Re: Union Cane's Prediction Cup - The Final Result - Winner : alma
This is only a test event remember, I am trying out new and fresh ideas.
If ignoring replacements annoys you then say so, I will take it on board when finalising the set up of the competition proper.
The overall impression I'm getting is that the midweek knockout cup idea is not going to work, as the quality and celebrity status of your average Wednesday night boxer is not up to the standard required.

Whoa there Jeff. You started it by gloating about being in second place on Union's other prediction league. Not that it bothered me you'll understand.
Keep going Union. All the greatest trees start from small seeds.

Some quality blind picking here!
As per predictions above, but with both Flechero and Maguinto beating their new opponents by UD.
