Football Manager 2012 - Page 9 Empty Football Manager 2012

Post by sodhat Tue 16 Aug 2011, 10:54 am

First topic message reminder :

Just a note (pinched directly from Wikipedia regarding the 2012 installment of FM. I am desperate to get a hold of this and start playing, I missed 2011 out but I fully intend to get back on this social life-sapping horse.

The next in the series of the Football Manager simulation game is set to be the 19th game released and is reported to include 800+ improvements. The new changes (of which only a few have been announced so far) include an improved 3D Match Engine, a new manager team talk system called "Tone" which will enhance your personality in the game and a different way to select the nations involved in your player database which now means that you can add or remove nations as you play.

The final version though, is yet to be finished as it will need the Summer Transfers within the game and some parts just need "finishing off".

More information from press releases is expected to come out in Autumn 2011 and the game is to come out before Christmas, but if the development stays on course it will be released (like previous versions in the series) in late October to early November 2011. A handheld version is also widely expected, but hasn't been officially announced as yet.

I'm gonna set myself a challenge, start as a sunday league footballer and in the BSN. Curious to see how far I can progress before the next one is out.

Just won the league with Chelsea. Beating Man City in my second season by one point! Got offered the job after winning the League Cup and finishing 8th in the League with Sunderland.

I already had Cavani and Hazard, but I brought in Jovetic and M'Vila for a total of 50 million, and went with:

-----------------Cavani------------
Mata-----------Hazard-----------Jovetic
------M'Vila--------------Ramires------

good team that jdizzle, whats your defence like, its a area i always think chelsea need strengthing, cech isnt great on it, terry loses his legs very early but is a pain to try and get rid of. luiz is decent and ivanovic but cole too is on the decline. the young keeper out on loan delac is decent but takes a while to fully delevop

Ironically I was at Sunderland before I was at Chelsea, and I took Courtois there for 4 million as he was transfer listed at Chelsea and he was a bargain and was great for me there, but now they want 25 million and I'm not paying that for him! Cech is still going, but he may finished now. Terry is still going strong-ish, but I've got a bloke called Dejan Lovren who was there when I arrived and I signed Nkoulou, Cameroon centre back, who is class. Luiz at left back and I signed Mike James from Ajax and he can play DL and DR and he has turned quality.

He'd be 37, which is very old for a full back.

I tend to keep my fullbacks until they're around 33, the pace starts to drop and seeing as I play attacking formations, it's vital that they can contribute to phases of attacking play.

It's more that there are no regans in there cf, got to get the Wonderkid regans in.

37 for a full back is ancient, I usually get rid of most players when they hit 30!

I think fullbacks are one of the first to go in terms of age. Goalkeepers, centre backs and even centre mids can go into their mid-30s, but full backs, wingers and strikers usually go just after they go past 30.

It's always the case. Whenever I see x is on a goalscoring draught having not scored for x minutes I know I'm going behind early on as he pops up!

Aug 2012: Season 1 success

got promoted with Romulus through the play offs, now 6-1 odds ( outside chance) to get promoted into the BSS. Board wants me to consolidate and get to the 2nd qualifying round of both FA tournaments and Dodson

my player values range from 1-16k so i should be able to hold my own in the BSS if I rely on getting decent regens come March time and I get a decent cup run or 2.

Want to try and boost facilities but when the board says yes, my money slips just below the needed amount. Ah well, got 6 coaches, 3 physios and 3 scouts ( 1 for next opposition and 2 scouting UK and Ireland ) so my training should be ok until I try to go full time.

Post by Crimey Sat 11 Aug 2012, 4:38 pm

Finished my second season as Swansea. Finished 8th which was great, was challenging for 5th until the last few games of the season. Scott Sinclair won Young Player of the year with 18 goals, 6 assists, 7 man of the matches, would probably have done even better if it wasn't for an injury towards the end of the season. Tom Cairney came third in the Young player which was great!

Didn't do much in the January transfer windows other than bringing in youngsters and sending people out on loan.

Paul Stalteri and Luis Garcia have both retired, which isn't a big deal, Garcia wasn't really ever used and already have a replacement for Stalteri as a back up right back.

This summer, so far....

I've signed Jordan Rhodes for £500k, there were times when both De Jong and Graham were injured which made things difficult so hoping Rhodes can fill that hole.

Paul Buchanan as a back up left back, Neil Taylor lost form at times in the season and my back up wasn't good enough so signed him for £1.9m to provide competition.

After being loaned to the club for two seasons in a row, and performing well, I signed Steven Caulker permanently for an initial £5.75 million (a record fee) with add-ons totalling up to about £8.5 million. At 21, he's worth it though.

Gaston Ramirez is my favourite signing though, Bologna got relegated so got him for just £4million and hopefully he can come good, although he may struggle to get into the side ahead of Sinclair and Dyer.

I've sold Wayne Routledge for £1.9 million after two years of him complaining about first team football, although I got the most out of him after a burst of good form at the end of the season when Sinclair was injured boosting his fee and keeping him quiet for a bit.

Garry Monk has announced he's going to retire, which will make it difficult to get rid of him, despite him wanting to leave. Want to get rid of my old back up left back, James McClean and some of the guys I put on loan last year such as Jay Spearing and Steven Dobbie.

I doubt I'll sign anybody else, and hopefully I can have a couple of cup runs this year and keep up good Premier League performance.

The big challenge of the summer will be to keep hold of Sinclair, Arsenal came in for him in January but rejected a deal which would have got up to £15 million, he does have a £15.5 million release clause in his contract which I'm a bit worried about, but he won't sign a deal without a release clause in it. I promised him an improvement in reputation, I'm hoping the 8th place finish will give him that.

Bring on the third season!

Could of you help me on an editor question please?

I want to activate the lower leagues in NI to make a realistic pyramid. I have an initial problem however - how do I change the relegation place out of the the NI Second Division from 2 to 5? I want 5 rele places as I want to activate the 4 Regional Premiers in the editor but also want to add one of my own (Fermanagh and Western Div 1, as I'm from the area and its comparable to the four regional premiers in the editor, but is only there as a secondary league).

Thanks!

Dave.

I've started a game with Liverpool, sold all of the older players that where no more than squad players (Kuyt, Maxi, Auerlio, Bellamy, Adam etc) brought in Allen, Granero, Tello and promoted from the youth squad, Morgan, Suso, Sterling.

Set myself a challenge of signing nobody over 21 from now one, will have to use my youngsters to complete my goal of becoming the most successful team in England. Not had a great start, lost 2 drawn 1. Gerrard is still out injured however so he'll come back for Granero, Sterling and Tello are awesome on the wings.

I loaned Sterling in the second season for Swansea, and he was pretty awful. At the moment he seems to be a Championship level player.

Surprised he's good for you already to be honest.

The joys of football manager where in one save a youngster can be awesome, in another they are mediocre at best!

That's why it's one of the best games around!

His stats are shocking but he gets a fair share of assists. Looking forward to carrying on the save while waiting for the boxing tonight.

In my 2nd season with Utd so 4th season of the save file, in the FA Cup Semi final, Champions League final Vs Arsenal at the Millenium. also 2nd in the Premier League with a game in hand that could see me go top with 2 games to go.

Cavani and Henandez have been absalute beats with Rooney as back up. Think Cavani has scored over 50 goals in all competitions and Henandez is getting on 40.

Manchester United by season 3 in my file (I'm Swansea) are really struggling, Fergie retired and has been replaced by Jurgen Klopp (not out of the realms of possibility really) and they're dropping down the table fast.

I'm rumoured with most fairly big jobs these days, but only one team have ever actually made me an offer. Frieberg Laugh

Another good season with Swansea, possibly Europe and I might get a big job though and I'll probably accept it and then steal a load of players from Swansea like Scott Sinclair (twenty goals and 15 assists for Swansea in the second season!), Tom Cairney, Michael Vorm.

I had a try with Swansea last week, brought in Butland, Powell, Sterling as youngsters with talent, Guti as a freebie, Michu and another Spanish striker whose name escapes me, lost 2 of my first 4 league games 6-0 and went out in the league cup to Portsmouth.

I've yet to have a cup run in 3 seasons going out in early rounds every time.

My first team at the moment looks like this: (no loanees)

Vorm

Rangel
Moras (Experienced Greek CB)
Caulker (signed permanently after two years of loans)
Taylor

McArthur
Abelda
Cairney

Dyer
Luuk De Jong
Sinclair

I then have a sort of back up side

Amos

Schwelger (was signed on a free by Reading in Championship, had a good six months so snapped him up)
Williams
Upson (he is on loan as Monk is rubbish now)
Buchanan

Sergio (first signing I made, experienced Spanish playmaker)
Britton
Allen

Chamberlain (on loan has failed to replace Routledge, needed somebody who wouldn't complain about lack of first team football)
Graham
Gaston Ramirez

Then also have Jordan Rhodes and Alan Tate and another goalkeeper.

Think it's a decent side, but third season I'm not doing as well as the last couple as had a horrible run of games really early on. Think it was Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea all in a row. Can't remember in what order.

Best result was in the first season where in about November I thrashed Arsenal 3-0 at the Liberty Stadium. Haven't even managed a draw against them since. Laugh
