Guilty pleasures
First topic message reminder :
Is there an album you love even though you know it's naff as hell? Let's put 'cool' to one side and be honest about things!
My guilty pleasure is Year of the Cat by Al Stewart. Good tunes, great musicianship, an excellent album all round, even though it's so middle of the road you can hear the white lines on it.

Hero, they come out with good pop music, simple as that. Most of the Sugababes' stuff is really good, too.

Vic Reeves and Dizzy is just great. If that doesn't get people up and doing the most random dancing and shouting Dizzy I don't know what will. Size of a cow is a great shout Hero.

Jebus! I remember seeing them perform that track "live" at the Radio One Roadshow in Tenby in about 1992. I got sick on the bus and it was boiling hot
Some other classics there. The Wonderstuff were fantastic. I've got their album "Never Loved Elvis". Ned's Atomic Dustbin were superb as well....oh I'm going to have to play them now

Nothing wrong with The D! Okay they're a comedy band, but the fact they're so OTT actually makes them cool (I think).
What skeletons have I got lurking in my CD collection?
Big Country - Through A Big Country
Enya - Watermark & Paint the Sky with Stars
Duran Duran - Greatest
The Corrs - Forgiven not Forgotten
Sheryl Crow - Sheryl Crow
Rush - 2112

I draw the line at The Corrs though. Only because I used to work in record shop when Talk On Corners came out and I had to listen to it 1000 times a day.

Anyone who puts Rush - 2112 in their "guilty pleasures" category has some serious problems with their definitions. It's probably the best CD in your collection - you just don't know it yet

I've unashamedly got The Corrs in my record collection.
Tinie Tempah and Dizzee Rascal are not guilty pleasures. They're great artists.
Lady Gaga is my massive guilty pleasure right now.

Seriously, it has an awesome beat. The chorus kinda sucks but if Cheryl Cole recorded it, the press would be fapping away uncontrollably.

Sorry I just can't agree. It is TERRIBLE.
That could be because I'm forced to listen to a naff radio station at work that plays it about 30 times per day.

I've got the vinyl single for that.
Also, while I'm a big fan of Rush, don't you think (looking at it objectively) that the sci-fi influences in a lot of their work is a tad geeky? Being a sci-fi geek myself I have no problem with this, but playing it to other people might get you some funny looks.
Oh, just thought of another GP.
Anyone else out there with the vinyl single for Arnee & the Terminaters - I'll Be Back?
Just me then, is it?
