First topic message reminder :

Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Stephen Jones photo on the bar. That's a banning offence

So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

The Pumas are very aggressive at the breakdown, they look to be going of their feet quite a bit too. I can't see Wales getting enough ball to win this match.

A few observations:

Lee Byrne is godawful.

The curse of the miss-pass is back.

Alun Wyn Jones had a good game.

Jon Davies outside Jamie Roberts doesn't work.

We don't look remotely like contenders for the World Cup.

But we won, which is better than losing.

Couldn't find any negatives from that then Lucky? Wink My view:

Byrne, James and Hibbard had poor games.
Thank god AWJ is built like a tank. I was worried for a moment when he landed on his side.
James Hook belongs at 10 Smile
Some good youngsters coming along nicely.
Powell will probably be on the plane to NZ.
Wales really miss Matthew Rees too.

In fairness, Andy Powell deserves to go to New Zealand, he had a decent all-round game.

Anyway, no time to dwell on Wales - the small matter of Ireland v France coming up! Very Happy

The Leinster backrow were awful. They played for the 1st 10 minutes and did nothing after that. Ferris was brilliant. The pack took the finger out when Reddan came on.

Thomond, I'd say that's harsh on Sean O'Brien, who looked quality as usual. Cian Healy too, until he got injured - he looks okay though, although I haven't heard what the prognosis is.

For France, it was so good to see Rougerie back and playing so well. Their inside centre whose name escapes me looked good too, as did Mas, the substitute hooker, Parra, Trinh-Duc, Medard and Heymans. No one mentioned it in commentary, but Palisson's try-saving tackle on Luke Fitzgerald was awesome, even if Sexton scored from the next phase.

Also, it was really classy of Fitzgerald to wave an imaginary yellow card near the end. Rugby needs more of that.

guirado is irish(check the 2nd& 3rd tries)

hope he's not in the 30, a real hazard for the French.Roro got through the game well, outplayed the irish centres alone, and afterwards went straight to D'arc to find out how he was;true gent.

Lucky, good weekend all round for me really - London Scottish demolished Scottish club champions Ayr 53-15 last night, Chiefs ran over Pirates today 58-3, and then Scotland edged past Italy without really finding top gear - couldn't have gone much better to be honest Braveheart Chief

Palisson looked good today, even though he didn't get that much ball. He's not the biggest but he knocked Jerry Flannery on his @rse, which takes some doing.

So, as I tried to say earlier, before getting removed, palisson is a good "joker" after Clerc and Medard, he set up the try last week;but I would still have selected Malzieu.

SOB was great with the ball in hand. He usually is,he didn't do enough work at the breakdown for the majority of the match and his defence was solid. He doesn't do enough of what I think his job is supposed to be. Ferris was great when he came on. Wally must be sweating on his place.

You didn't miss a great match, Thomond. Argentina dominated most of the first half, we scored two tries in two minutes just before half time and that was that, more or less. George North is going to be a great player for us. Lee Byrne was woeful.

Some news from the Ireland camp rfom the Irish Times:

“Felix has had an X-ray which didn’t show a broken bone, but he’ll have a scan tomorrow,” said Kidney. “Only once we know the results of that will we be able to asses it fully. We need to check for ligament damage.” (says DK)

Kidney was able to deliver a more definitive update on loosehead prop Cian Healy, who had to be helped from the pitch during in the 51st minute.

“Someone stood on Cian’s foot 10 days ago in training and unfortunately someone trod on the same spot today,” added Kidney.

“It’s just something that needs a little bit of fresh air and time for the bruise to heal.”

Could do with some (real) sun to ripen the tomatoes. Got the mozzarella in and the balsamic and olive oil - just need the toms.
