Hilditch Axed in CA Shakeup
First topic message reminder :
At last Andrew Hilditch has been shown the door by Cricket Australia - albeit about two years too late.
Head Coach Tim Nielson and Selector Greg Chappell are also the major casualties of the CA shake-up which has finally taken action after the long-awaited and comprehensive Argus Review Panel which included former Australian captains Allan Border, Steve Waugh and Mark Taylor.
I don't like Nielson's chances of re-applying for the coaching position and it is a well known fact here that Greg Chappell was widely criticised by current players in recent panel interviews.
It's time for some new blood at long last. Potential candidates might include ex-players like Rod Marsh, Darren Lehmann or even Tugga himself.
The long-term ambition is to climb from the current mediocre Test ranking of five to reclaim the No.1 spot, but Don Argus said it could take a good 18 months to see the first results.

What do you think the aussie side will be for the first test?

Re: Hilditch Axed in CA Shakeup
Probably something like this:
Watson
Hughes
Ponting
Khawaja
Clarke
Hussey
Haddin
Johnson
Beer
Harris
Copeland
Don't know if they'll drop Watson down the order and promote Usman to opener with Hughes though. Marsh to just miss out I think.

I think Hussey at 6. Punter will bat above him.

Re: Hilditch Axed in CA Shakeup
i think he is undeerated by a lot of people averaging over 50 with the bat in test cricket is quality, and many people constantly critcise him, he has been aussies's most consistent batsman apart from watson over the last couple of years

Re: Hilditch Axed in CA Shakeup
Yeah, I just don't think they'll drop Ricky down the order just yet.
Clarke (and most Aussies for that matter) still respect him and he showed signs of decent form in the last month or so. The Huss also is not adverse to batting where he usually does at 6. There not going to change things too much I'd say... not much point really.

Punter showed a bit of form in the odi series, but not sure whether he still has the desire to churn out runs, say for example like tenudlkar
