James O'Connor suspended
First topic message reminder :
The ARU have given James O'Connor a 1 match suspension and a suspended $AU10,000 fine for not showing up to the Wallabies RWC squad announcement last week. O'Connor was seen at a number of Sydney pubs the night before. As a result he will miss the final 3N test vs NZ this weekend. Injuries to other wingers in the RWC squad may force Deans to play Adam Ashley-Cooper on the wing.

Or boozing at the Sheaf.
It's causing a bit of a split with the rest of the team which is unfortunate for us Oz fans. Must bring a smile to your dial though, GG?

Not at all. This kind of thing annoys me immensely. Which one of us hasn't had a few pints with a few work mates and gone about overboard?
Top marks to the young man for stepping up, accepting the blame and accepting his sanction.
But actually banning him from playing is just petty.

Did you play for your country... isn't that slightly different?
Frankly, it annoys me too. The accepting the blame thing is bollox... he'll do it again most likely. I'd ban him for 3 matches - one for each indiscretion. (Perth, Canberra & Emerald City)

I think if you ban him for each indiscretion you may not see him play much!
Can't wait to see what him, Beale and Cipriani get up to next year at the Rebels.

You wouldn't know if the Rebels players turned up half cut as their execution would be just as bad. I would have liked a breath-tester on them after some of those games this year.

I was just stretching things a bit for GG, Rob.
Of course we need him to play every game.

Stretching the point as you do on occasion GG.
You can waste some time if you like but don't forget the games coming up in the next few months. It would be sad to see you get banned for repeated wumming and repeated complaining.
I don't really mind what you do - but it's already annoying some other members who can get trigger happy - if you know what I mean?

I'm sure they'll send me an abusive and threating PM before they get trigger happy. They usually do.

Yes, best to take it on the chin I suppose.
As I said once before - you need to save the best ones for later on... late September, early October this place will be fairly busy I'd say.

Re: James O'Connor suspended
On that note....What's up with the site lately? response seems to get pretty slow from time to time. Is this an impact of the football season starting up? or are there some infrastructure or volume problems? Will it hold together when a thousand angry welshmen descend on the board to complain about the loss to Samoa?

Re: James O'Connor suspended
Some people are saying it was slow for a couple of hours the other day - there was a minor technical issue.
Otherwise, if you mean actual response times to posts - yes, maybe people are out to lunch, on other threads (they all jumped on when the Wales, England, Ireland squads were announced)... or maybe they are taking their time to reply to more controversial topics.
I'm going to stand on the sidelines if Samoa win that one. Well maybe a comment here and there, nothing too serious mind.

Re: James O'Connor suspended
guys, as a welshman, i can confirm there will be hordes, and i mean hordes of us on here blaming everything from Toby Faletaus afro to Powells golf buggy and Mike Phillips scrap a month ago with a bouncer outside a McDonalds (i mean really, a McDonalds bouncer, thats like being a fat stripper, embaressing) after we lose to Fiji/Samoa.
There are 2 things which make us a different kettle of fish to every other nations supporters.
1. Our enlarged optimism glands.
2. Our use of the word "boy" with an "o" on the end.
Let the goodtimes roll.

Agree people. Not a good look and not good for team synergy who i guess will be peed off with prima donnas thinking they can flout the rules.
K in club stuff.not ok when people pay well earned buks to watch these guys.
Dont like the rules. Dont play the game.

But TGG...
He knowingly broke the rules/law of the organisation that he has chosen to be part of.
Its about individual rights vs personal responsibility.
You can't have TMOs and Refs deliberately breaking the rules.
You can't have players choosing which group rules to follow.
He should be fired!
