Ojo and England Empty Ojo and England

Post by rugbyman Wed 24 Aug 2011, 9:16 pm

I've heard people saying that he's been told he can't play for England again, somethging about sex in a NZ hotel? Anyway, i was just wondering what the full story was, and do people think that his (unnoficial?) ban will be lifted one day? He did play for the saxons this summer afterall...

Ojo and Mike Brown were found guilty by the RFU of misconduct following some after-dark shenanigans with a female NZ Tour guide from what I remember. I think Ojo was the "lucky" guy and Brown tried to cover for him.

Danny Care & David Strettle were also "involved" but no official complaint was actually made about any of them. Ojo appears to have "served his time" as he featured in the Saxons squad during the Churchill Cup. Wink

Ojo, simpson-daniel, nick kennedy, chris robshaw cipriani, brad barritt, anthony allen and dom wauldock were all caught by Martin Johnson taking girls out for steak dinners and never calling them again....disgraceful !!!....... off the EPS list you go...beetle brow likes his players large, average and sporting gentlemanly morals.

They went out clubbing. Care left earlier and wasn't involved further. Brown and Ojo brought a girl back with them and were fined for missing training the next morning and staying out so late.

There were accusations thrown about afterwards but it didn't go anywhere (a lot didn't make any sense).

Strettle was a completely separate issue where he 'met' up with a girl out there who immediately sold her story to the paper. Several of the English autobiographies mention attempted stings out there in the past. Same ones the footballers get over here.

Strettle was found to have gone to their room to tell them to keep the noise down and warn them about training.

As Thunor states, none of the accusations could be varified and the police were never involved. The press did love it though.

To be fair to the players, the hammerings they took on that tour meant that picking up a girl was probably one if not the only highlight. And in Cares and Ojo's case they seemed to play the best in the second game, because both scored.

Ojo's problem is that he scored a couple of great opportunistic tries against the All Blacks in New Zealand and has an impressive strike rate for London Irish. He's a dynamic and pacy winger with an eye for the try line. MJ doesn't like those sorts in his squad.

Wingers in the England squad need to have other attributes - weight, height, lack of acceleration, experience and a good "kicking game".
