Best centre in the world?
Re: Best 13 in the world?
Why are the last 5 options even in there?

Re: Best 13 in the world?
Probably Jaque Fourie at the minute.
Though I think that Contepomi and Rougerie will have good World Cups too.

Re: Best 13 in the world?
De Villiers is a 12,
Jaque Fourie without any shadow of a doubt, he has simply been immense in the Tri Nations, his defensive abilities makes him stand out. his finishing capabiliities 30 tries in 62 tests.

Re: Best 13 in the world?
I went Smith but...
really like Rougerie as a 13. Think he has everything in his game from defencive big hits, defensive positional nous, linebreaking ability, distribution, the whole lot.
really like Fourie also, weird to think how little ball he gets considering the pack he has w SA and then you look at the 10....enough said. Great player.
I went Smith because of all the unseen stuff he does and how he so rarely makes mistakes, he is a fantastic all round player in every aspect of the game, his support lines are great too.

Fourie and Rougerie look the best at the moment. I'd say Ireland wouldn't swap O'Driscoll for anyone due to his inspirational leadership. But he just doesn't have the pace anymore to be as good as these two in general playing ability.

At the moment, Fourie and Rougerie. (though Smith is still as good and reliable as ever)
However, we havent seen the last of BOD.

Went for Smith. Ultra consistent on both attack and defence. Very intelligent player and a feel for the game.
Fourie and Smith I think are similar, Ive just seen more of Smith because they tend to see the ball more. AAC isnt in quite the same league and might lose his spot when JOC comes back.
Don't know a lot of the rest but will be interesting to see them all. Can't wait.

Re: Best 13 in the world?
Smith
He's the second most important NZ back after Carter. An incredibly intelligent and classy footballer. Best around at running the defensive line, an excellent tackler, superb support lines, cracking distributor, a deft boot. Only Fourie (my 2nd choice) of those lot has a higher try to cap ratio, but I'd wager Smith has created a fair more tries for players around him.
I would have loved to have seen him paired with Jauzion for the Barbarians when the Frenchman was in his prime.

Re: Best 13 in the world?
Im lost between Fourie and Smith . Smith attacks hard and is always there at the worst time for the opposition ,plus he's a reliable defender. Fourie well nobody defends quite like him and 30 tries says a lot considering he plays outside Bok flyhalfs whose very first insticts are to kick .

Allow me to help, Taylorman.
Ma'a Nonu - plays in the centre for the All Blacks sometimes
Jean De Villiers - another 12 who plays for South Africa
McCabe - plays for Australia - they beat South Africa and New Zealand recently in some Tri Nations games I think
BOD - some bloke who plays for Ireland. Been around a while and has highest amount of tries for a centre - allegedly
Ansbro - plays centre for Scotland
One of the copious amounts of talented French backs - it would be difficult to know any of these but Rougerie, Jauzion, Mermoz are some of the names that spring to mind
D'arcy (haha) - plays 12 for Ireland and has been the partner with the BOD fella mentioned above.
Roberts - plays 12 for Wales and went on a Lions tour against South Africa and did okay for himself.

Re: Best 13 in the world?
Conrad Smith is the most influential as without him, the Kiwis do lose something.
I may be lining myself up to look stupid here but weren't Smith and Hey, Nonny, Nonu both playing on Saturday. Was Carter calling a lot of M1 moves if they were both playing 13?

Nonu is a 12,
as are
Roberts,
DeVilliers
McCabe
Darcy
and Henson
So this poll seems to be badly thought out.

Oh my lord. She's very foxy.
I know he's just back from injury, but Rougerie is one of the best 13's around.
