England vs India - T20
First topic message reminder :
(From Cricinfo)
Team news
With the probable selection of Alex Hales at the top of the order, England are set to field their 19th opening partnership in 38 Twenty20s.
The bowling attack is set to have a familiar look to it, with Jade
Dernbach's performance in a rain-reduced game against Ireland having
cemented his value in the shortest form of the game. Jos Buttler, who
once again demonstrated his big-hitting credentials for Somerset on
Twenty20 finals day, could find himself squeezed out of the reckoning by
fellow newcomer, Ben Stokes.
England: (possible) 1 Craig Kieswetter (wk), 2 Alex Hales, 3
Kevin Pietersen, 4 Eoin Morgan, 5 Ravi Bopara, 6 Ben Stokes / Jos
Buttler, 7 Samit Patel, 8 Tim Bresnan, 9 Stuart Broad (capt), 10 Graeme
Swann, 11 Jade Dernbach
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Dravid's debut coincides with the end of Gautam Gambhir's tour. He has
not been himself since thwacking his head on the Oval turf while
dropping Kevin Pietersen in the fourth Test, and has finally bowed out
with a concussion. Parthiv Patel, the diminutive wicketkeeper who first
made his name on the 2002 tour of England, is set to open the innings,
with the twin spin attack of Amit Mishra and R Ashwin also likely to get
an outing.
India: (possible) 1 Parthiv Patel, 2 Rahul Dravid, 3 Virat Kohli,
4 Rohit Sharma, 5 Suresh Raina, 6 MS Dhoni (capt / wk), 7 Amit Mishra, 8
R Ashwin, 9 Praveen Kumar, 10 Munaf Patel, 11 R Vinay Kumar

Pitch and conditions
Old Trafford had a reputation as being one of the quickest decks in
world cricket, until the square was rotated as part of the ground's
redevelopment. Since then, the pitch conditions have been somewhat
subcontinental, although that didn't aid Sri Lanka in their
ODI-series-deciding loss earlier in the season. The weather, ever a
factor in Manchester, is set fair. Which is nice.

Re: England vs India - T20
this is what I feared for with India playing only four bowlers, if Munaf goes they're in trouble

Ashwin too is getting smashed around, the batters are well set, he should have taken the new ball.

I suppose, but you'd have to back him over Sharma I'd have thought... Morgan with a flip over short fine leg for four, lovely shot!

Re: England vs India - T20
Its for this reason that i feel England should focus more on Morgan for the T20 and ODI's over the tests. Great player in these situations but just not a test match player.

My guess is that he has secret photos of Andy Flower under lock and key somewhere. Can't be many other explanations.

I have no idea, he makes batting look very difficult! Would much prefer to have had a better look at Buttler.

Ravi doing some more of what he does best...
It would be best for all concerned if he got out so that Buttler can come in and win it for us...

Mogs wont last long i feel as Bopara is letting the pressure build and forcing Mogs to take action.

Re: England vs India - T20
I think Eng have given it a crack and desrve some credit for trying.
Bowling India out again. a concern for India going into 50 overs, though they've sewn this up?
I feel for Eng. This must be the only country where you can turn up as the home team and more of the fans , who are from your country, by far support the other team than you. You'd wonder why you bother i'd think.

Moggsy playing another little gem here, knows mid-off is up so steps down and lifts it over him for a boundary, he's making it easy for Ravi out there

Re: England vs India - T20
It's much more balanced than expected.
Vaughn wrote England off if India hit 150 and they went past it.
You have to give credit to the death bowling even if India had clattered them a bit before. Made a game at least.

Re: England vs India - T20
Bopara and Mogs have faced the same amount of balls yet Mogs has score 27 more runs than Bopara, more than doubling his score. Thats a class T20 batsman is Mogs.

Going to be hard to stand a chance now with Bopara piling the pressure on the other end.. what a waste of a place.

England should see this home now. Great effort from Mog means England dont really have to take utoo many chances to win.

Patel and Bopara in together is bad news. Neither are good enough.

It was definitely out.
Why hasn't Buttler come in?
Re: England vs India - T20
dear Lord. why no Butler?
these two are turning a good position into a defeat.. surely he'd have A: tried and B: had a chance to get some runs?

This really should be a walk in the park from here for England so they should have gambled and given Butler a shot.

Re: England vs India - T20
Trebs, we all know that Bopara is going to protect his own wicket to get a no so it looks good for him and he will let the rest bat it out. That said, is Patel good enough to win this on his own?

wickets in hand and Butler would win this.
This is just wierd selection from Flower not to send in a big hitter,
