Week 1 - Match 3 - Kolkata Knight Riders vs Royal Challengers Bangalore - Both Teams Submitted
Welcome to Eden Gardens. Home of the Kolkata Knights Riders.
Pitch Conditions = Slow and low, plenty of spin in both innings. Ball comes on nice from the seamers which makes batting easier against the quicks. Spin will win this match.
-----
Please post tactics below.
-----
Royal Challengers Bangalore
Toss- bowl first
Team
1) Abhinav Mukund
2) Shaun Marsh
3) Manish Pandey
4) AB De Villiers (C) (WK)
5) Mohammad Kaif
6) David Hussey
7) AM Nayar
8) Stuart Broad (V-C)
9) Piyush Chawla
10) Devandra Bishoo
11) Bhargrav Bhatt
Bowlers:
Bowler 1: Stuart Broad- 4 overs
Bowler 2: Devandra Bishoo- 4 overs
Bowler 3: Piyush Chawla- 4 overs
Bowler 4: Bhargrav Bhatt- 4 overs
Bowler 5: David Hussey- 2 overs
Bowler 6: AM Nayar- 2 overs
Broad
and Nayar will open the bowling, Nayar will bowl one, Broad two i'll
then bring Bishoo on he will bowl the straight 4 overs as will Bhatt and
Chawla. Hussey will come on mid way through to bowl a couple of overs.
Nayar will bowl one at the end and Broad two with Broad bowling the
final over. 3/4 spinners needed and hopefully they'll do the job. As for
batting, Marsh will look to explode in the opening overs with Mukund
getting the 1's and twos and the odd boundary each over. De Villiers and
Hussey terrific players of spin and should do well in the mid-overs
passing over the strike-rate but still going for boundaries. Batting
down to 9 so alot of depth. Like to bowl first and put KKR
under-pressure. Gives our batters to also take a look at the pitch and
see how they will react to the spin when it's there turn to bat.
Consistency and spin should re-strict KKR down to 120 or less.
-----
Kolkata Knight Riders
KKR will bat first if they win the toss on a slow and low turner.
Chris Gayle
Jacques Kallis
Gautam Gambhir
Eoin Morgan
Yusuf Pathan
Shakib Al Hasan
Ambati Rayudu(wk)
Bipul Sharma
Tim Bresnan
Ashish Nehra
Pragyan Ojha
Ishant left out in favour of Nehra coz of the slowness of the wicket.Nehra can swing the ball both ways and thus should do well even on a slow wicket.Bresnan is a proven performer on unhelpful pitches to fast bowlers. Then I have 3 left arm spinners plus Gayle plus Pathan to chip in with a bit of offspin.Kallis can bowl if the others are finding it tough.Shakib is one of the best limited overs spinners in the world and should find the surface to his liking particularly when no one in the opposition apart form De Villiers is expert against spin.Ojha can be deadly on a turning pitch.Ask Norhants. And anyone who doesnt know much about Bipul Sharma check out his domestic record.A very good allrounder.
As for my batting,my team is loaded with brilliant players of spin.Kallis will be the anchor with Gayle teeing of from the other end.My line up is flexible. If we get off to a flyer,Morgan and Pathan would be sent ahead but if we lose an early wicket I have Gambhir one of the best players of spin in the world to come in,dig in and then smash it at the death.Shakib and Rayudu too are very good against spin (and pace as well)and are capable of both attack and defence. With Bipul and Bresnan at 8 and 9 I have a very long batting line up.With such a quality line up I should be able to post in excess of 150 which should be very competitve on this track with my battery of spinners and a longish RCB tail.
Bresnan:4 overs
Nehra:3 overs
Shakib and Ojha:4 overs each
Bipul:3 overs
With Yusuf,Gayle and Kallis chipping in depending on how the pitch is playing and on the situation.
I would open with Nehra and Bresnan giving Bresnan a 2 over spell and nehra only one over although if he is finding swing he can bowl another.
Shakib and Ojha to bowl in tandem after that before Kallis,Yusuf or Gayle get introduced to bowl in tandem with Bipul Sharma.Bresnan and Nehra to bowl at the death. They are very good at it.But if one of them is having a bad day then the experienced Kallis can always bowl at the death.
All in all,I have lots of options.
2 world class spinners plus one very good one in Bipul Sharma.Since they are all lefties I have Yusuf Pathan or Chris Gayle who can always give me a bit of variety with their offspin on a turning pitch.Kallis will be used depending on the situation as he has the experience to bowl in any situation.

How did he end up a MFC player?
Re: Week 1 - Match 3 - Kolkata Knight Riders vs Royal Challengers Bangalore - Both Teams Submitted
Mate, your right MFC released him but didn't take him off his squad list. I'll take him off once i've sorted the deal out with him.
Re: Week 1 - Match 3 - Kolkata Knight Riders vs Royal Challengers Bangalore - Both Teams Submitted

Yeah I know, MFC didn't take him off his squad list. I'll change my team now
Re: Week 1 - Match 3 - Kolkata Knight Riders vs Royal Challengers Bangalore - Both Teams Submitted
Can someone explain to me please!
Re: Week 1 - Match 3 - Kolkata Knight Riders vs Royal Challengers Bangalore - Both Teams Submitted
I signed AM Nayar but he had already been released, MFC (the previous owner of him) hadn't took him off his squad list I then made an exchange with him for Nayar. Shanky bidded for Nayar though so he's his player. Just a slight misunderstanding.

Re: Week 1 - Match 3 - Kolkata Knight Riders vs Royal Challengers Bangalore - Both Teams Submitted
really tough one to call here, the teams very evenly matched. I think I'm just giving the edge to KKR at the moment. The spinners from each team match up pretty well, with maybe RCB having the slight edge (they have a bit more variety there), but in these conditions I think Bresnan will do better than Broad. The middle-orders are also close, Morgan being one of the best T20 players around backed up by the very capable Pathan and Al Hasan, while the RCB on oozes class. I think the main difference in the sides is in the top 3, where KKR is much stronger IMO.
Going to be close though, need to think about this one quite carefully.
