India have been further weakened by the news that Sachin Tendulkar will miss the remainder of the one-day series against England.

Tendulkar was ruled out of the washed-out opening fixture after a toe injury flared up on the eve of the match, and subsequent tests mean he will not be fit for remaining four games.

The batsman, who remains perched on 99 international centuries, reportedly requires four weeks on the sidelines to recover.

The beleaguered Indians have now seen no fewer than eight players leave the tour through injury as the squad and management battles through one of the most forgetable periods in the teams history.

The World Cup victory earlier in the year is now a distant memory with the side having been thrashed by England in this summer's Test series, the 4-0 scoreline seeing the hosts usurp them atop the world rankings.

The second game in the one-day series is scheduled to take place at the Rose Bowl on Tuesday.

India, who on Sunday called up batsman Manoj Tiwary to cover for the injured Rohit Sharma, will not be making any furth replacements.

Probably better for India overall. Judging by their awful test performances, quite a few young players could use a look at English conditions.

Shame, seems fitting that he will do it at home in front of his adoring fans.

actually, he'd have been doing that anyway but no, back in India is even more special for him.

India looked very strong the other day so I I expect they're still favourites in this their best form.
