Re: England vs India - Second ODI Thread
Bresnan may of picked up two wickets but he's bowled dreadful.
Re: England vs India - Second ODI Thread
Mr K run out.
still, what a massive total.. just horrible from Eng and brilliant from Ind.
That catch was a cracker.. would deserve to be on the winning side but how the hell do you chase that with no big hitters and Kumar looking to his "best bowler in the series" self to win it?
They need Tresco to be there with CK.. they hit 240 in 20 once this year but there's nothing like that. it's 30 too high.

188 to win?
Well we've lost then.
Clueless from England
MOTM? Bell for that catch

Re: England vs India - Second ODI Thread
yep.
now eng have to chase a massive total without their big hitters.. oops.
Not a bad start. so much work to do to get the rate down. if you could get near a run a ball you have a sniff maybe.

Going along nicely so far! I agree about some of the bowling, so much short pitched rubbish and hardly any yorkers and then feeding Raina with length that he can launch out of the ground. Just stupid really!

Full of cheer on here tonight isn't it? I think we'll win, we only need 7 an over from this point, no slogging required.

22 behind a run a ball so you need to be able to go after someone other than Mr K.
They even seem to know how to field today, cutting off lots of balls. The old bous can't move well enough anymore. India have found their future.

True that. Much depends on them.

to be fair 7 behind is not too bad but a long way to go yet.
They have kept Kumar back.

oh oh.. england in trouble now.
always a danger that the wheels will come off with a messed up batting order.
India firmly in charge at the moment.

Re: England vs India - Second ODI Thread
england getting themselves in trouble again.. back up to 9 more than a 9 a ball now.. like they stopped playing the flowing game and choked a bit.
chasing, no big hitters and strike hogger Bopara in.. looking grimmer by the minute.
oh for god sake.
Bopara in and back to 11 more than a run a ball.
Losing Moggy was a man too many.

Why is Bopara playing?
I cannot think of one positive from having him at the crease

Indian fans are in the majority, they're giving them value for money?

He hit a good 4 just now, and Cook just hit a 6. I still think we'll win.

The 6 was much needed.
You have to stay on top. CK did his bit to get the moving didn't he. Can't complain at him at all.

Re: England vs India - Second ODI Thread
Hmm.. not sure.
Lets see how he does in this series.
still in the balance here. they could use a couple of good overs as it's all got a "grind out the middle overs" feel right now.
Wondering if the wickets slowed Eng down, better Indian bowling, pitch slowing or a bit of everything?

Ravi is slowly sucking my interest out of this game...
Cap'n Cook on the other hand is playing brilliantly

Re: England vs India - Second ODI Thread
Broad deserves to be T20 captain, one good performance from Cook shouldn't grant him a T20 place.
Re: England vs India - Second ODI Thread
Ravi is surely showing he's just not right for this situation.. imagine what KP or Moggy would be doing it'd be over already.

Glad to see you all had such faith in the team. And I fail to see what Ravi has done wrong so far...

Re: England vs India - Second ODI Thread
I never thought I'd say this but I'd rather sit through 12 hours of KP footage than watch 1 minute of Ravi!
Broad deserves to be T20 captain? Please explain...

Re: England vs India - Second ODI Thread
We never have faith in England in One Day situations...
And Ravi hasn't done massively wrong this match, just in general over his career...
And now they are calling Ravi "The Finisher"?!

Re: England vs India - Second ODI Thread
More experienced, as a bowler knows where to put his fielders and has picked the right players for his team bar Bopara. No reason to take the captaincy off him.
Re: England vs India - Second ODI Thread
Bopara has been fine tonight, this is his problem though he can't really win as people have condemned him before he has even taken to the field. These 2 have played the situation pretty perfectly.

Re: England vs India - Second ODI Thread
England obviously see him a long term career for England in all forms of the game. Morgans test place on the other hand isn't secured.
Re: England vs India - Second ODI Thread
Agree with Carrot, Bopara hasn't done a lot wrong tonight. The situation has been perfect for him.
Re: England vs India - Second ODI Thread
I'd much prefer to have Bopara than Patel tbh, don't rate him at all.

TGRG (Thank God Ravi's Gone)
Right now lets win this match with a couple of overs to spare
---
I used to really like Ravi, back when he opened the batting for us. But he's never kicked on whilst players such as Hildreth, Taylor etc. have shown their talent and surpassed him yet he still gets selected.
Mind you could be worse Hussein could still be playing...

Re: England vs India - Second ODI Thread
The only thing I would say is that it isn't Ravi's fault that he keeps getting selected!

Re: England vs India - Second ODI Thread
I'd much rather have two of:
Taylor
Wright
Hildreth
Buttler
Yardy
Wainwright
Hales
Vince
Than Ravi and Samit
---
Hildreths chance has gone, unfortunately that might be true. One of the best players of his generation not to play for England in any form of the game.

Agreed. I definitely think Taylor should have been picked in this series though.

Yeah I agree, Taylor was unlucky. Good to see a Durham lad in the team though.
Re: England vs India - Second ODI Thread
evening all
India's problem is their bowling is fairly rubbish, so England feel they can chase down these big scores. Any reason why Morgan's not playing? Cook's done rather well again, we'll make an ODI player of him yet. Kieswetter got England off to the perfect start, great knock from him, and Bell and Bopara both made useful contributions.

Morgans out of the rest of the series with a shoulder injury.
