Re: Week 1 - Voting - ALL COACHES VOTED
shouldn't we like do the toss first or something? surely that has an influence on how the game will go? or should everyone simulate a toss (if they feel it will make a difference) for each match before voting?

Re: Week 1 - Voting - ALL COACHES VOTED
I've made two votes already, I don't see a toss changing them results though.
Flip a virtual coin Gregers :P

Re: Week 1 - Voting - ALL COACHES VOTED
well the way I see it they're two options:
a) one person (prob you gregers) does the toss for all five games (say you go: heads = home team, tails = away team) and we trust you not to cheat on your own toss
b) everyone simulates the toss for each game they will vote in.

Re: Week 1 - Voting - ALL COACHES VOTED
In me and Shankys game he wants to bat first and I want bowl so the toss doesn't really matter
Re: Week 1 - Voting - ALL COACHES VOTED
matches 3 and 4 the toss doesn't matter, and I think in match one MI are stronger whatever, so for me it's just match 2 where the toss could affect the outcome (and my own game of course, but I'm not voting on that one)...

Re: Week 1 - Voting - ALL COACHES VOTED
1) Mumbai win- Think Mumbai have the edge bowling and batting wise. Mumbai with a much stronger middle order than Deccan.
2) Dehli win Toss suits Kochi but I still think Dehli will come out victorious. Dehli have alot of match winners in there side and a few overseas stars
3) No Comment :P
4) Pune win- Conditions suit Pune more. A few of Chennais line-up are inconsistent, Morkel, Afridi, Nannes. Both sides have Indian stars in there team but I fancy Kochi to knick it.
5) Kings XI win- Poor lower order will hurt Rajasthan, King XI another team with talent throughout going for a Kings XI win.
2) Dehli win Toss suits Kochi but I still think Dehli will come out victorious. Dehli have alot of match winners in there side and a few overseas stars

Re: Week 1 - Voting - ALL COACHES VOTED
Match 1: Deccan vs Mumabi: no comment clearly.
Match 2: Kochi vs Delhi: tight game kochi win
Match 3: KKR vs RCB: Kolkata win, suprsied on a pitch that will detorerate badly as the game goes on, to bowl first, so KKR win by 28 runs
Match 4: Chennai vs pune: in my opinon, the tighest game to call, but just gonna say chennai win just..by 9 runs
Match 5: Kings eleven vs RR, kings eleven win
Match 2: Kochi vs Delhi: tight game kochi win
Match 3: KKR vs RCB: Kolkata win, suprsied on a pitch that will detorerate badly as the game goes on, to bowl first, so KKR win by 28 runs

Nannes inconsistent, Liam? I beg to differ, just take one look at his T20 record! Anyway, never mind

Re: Week 1 - Voting - ALL COACHES VOTED
Surely if he was playing well though they would of stuck with him they wouldn't of just brought younger players in if he was playing well.
Re: Week 1 - Voting - ALL COACHES VOTED
u dont no why he got dropped, we will never know, cos he always performed well when he played for ausstralia, maybe he had an attiduide problem

Re: Week 1 - Voting - ALL COACHES VOTED
if gregers has won the toss cos he is playing at home, when i get a home game i wanna win the toss lol

Re: Week 1 - Voting - ALL COACHES VOTED
When he's played over here for a county I haven't noticed a attitude problem.
Re: Week 1 - Voting - ALL COACHES VOTED
He won the toss because he flicked a coin and it landed on heads.
Re: Week 1 - Voting - ALL COACHES VOTED
1) Mumbai win by 10-15 runs - I can see this game being a low scoring affair with both sides boasting stronger bowling line ups in this match than batting ones. Possibly Mumbai batting first and only posting 130 as their line up relies on Sachin, as I think Steyn and Lee will work out Mumbai's hitters and run through them quickly. However, Deccan's batting is also weak in this game and with a pace triumvate of Gul, Munaf and Malinga I think Deccan get behind the rate early and lose wickets at regular intervals and fall short of their target. All out in the 19th over.
2) Kochi win by 3/4 wickets - Kochi bowling first and with the uneven conditions will get through the Delhi top order and conditions will not suit the styles of Warner and Sehwag particularly, with Tamim blasting a quick 30. James Taylor will push the ball around in the middle overs whilst rebuilding and a late push will get Delhi up to 130/140. However, Kochi don't have to go hard early as they know the total they are chasing and I think Mahela anchors the innings home with a 70, whilst Morne Morkel single handedly nearly wins the game for Delhi, but Kochi get home in the last over.
3) Kolkata win by 20 runs - The most clear cut game so far for me. Conditions suit Kolkata's batting perfectly. With the seamers coming on, Gayle gets KKR off to a rapid start and then with the spinners on Gambhir and Morgan are tremendous against spin and can negate the turning conditions and leave a platform for Yusuf et al. to tee of late in the innings with KKR posting 180. I see it that RCB are always up with the rate but keep losing wickets and this stunts their progress all the way through. AB will play a 60/70 to get them close but with no-one else contributing enough (more than 20) they fall comfortably short.
4) Pune Vs. CSK. No prediction.
5) RR by 1 wicket - I keep changing my mind on this game, it is hard to call. With the swinging conditions I am going to back Johnson to be at his mercurial best and rip the heart out of the Kings top order, and whilst there is a revival in the middle overs Junaid bowls brilliantly at the death to keep them to 120. However in reply I think Zaheer and Clark will use the seaming conditions well and keep taking wickets, but I think that RR will get home due to seeing Zaheer off and attacking the over end at the death and scrape home in the last over. This was the toughest game to call, and it relies on Mitchell finding his best form which I back him to do in the swinging conditions early.

Re: Week 1 - Voting - ALL COACHES VOTED
Match 1 - Mumbai Indians. The two bowling line-ups are fairly evenly matched, but there's a lot more class in the Mumbai batting line-up, and that will make the difference here.
Match 2 - Kochi; I think the conditions don't suit DD's star-studded top 3, and Jayawardene guides Kochi home in a low-scoring game.
Match 3 - KKR win. Tight one, but I think Morgan makes the difference; after a good start given to them by Gayle, KKR pegged back by the spinners, but Morgan gets them to a competitive total, which ultimately proves too much for RCB after Bresnan picks up a couple of early wickets.
Match 4 - CSK win. A high scoring game, in which Pune post a competitive total thanks to their middle-order and a decent knock from Kieswetter, but CSK chase it down as Pune's bowling (apart from Tait) lacks real pace and on a fast pitch Hussey enjoys himself, handling Swann and guiding the team home.
Some really tough calls in here, so some marginal decisions. Don't hate me

He will be counted as under 25 for this tournament. He was under 25 for the first fixture so fits in
Re: Week 1 - Voting - ALL COACHES VOTED
yeah JD, TBH much like you I changed my mind on your game a fair bit, and then chose the other side Hussey would be key, he loves fast bouncy wickets

Yeah, there are lots of different angles for predicting a win for one side! Everyone might predict a win for one side, but they could all conceivably do it for different reasons which makes it very intriguing!

Re: Week 1 - Voting - ALL COACHES VOTED
Match 1 - Mumbai win by 20/30 runs. Sahin carries them to 150 ish before Sammy destroys the Chargers top order. A mini revival by Wagh and Lee is brought to an end when Gul and Malinga come on at the death.
Match 2 - Delhi win by 15/20 runs. Sehwag wins the game singlhandedly for Delhi as he takes Tremlett, RP, Sree and Vinay for many runs on a surface where teh rest of his team struggle. A superb spell of death bowling by Morkel is the difference between the sides.
Match 3 - Kolkata win by 3 runs. An over reliance on spin bowlers means that great players of spin such as Morgan, Kallis and Gambhir lmanage to rotate the strike nicely through the middle overs before allowing YP to slog at the end. Shakib and Ohja prove the difference as they pressurise teh batsmen by bowling tight lines and eventually get them out. Bangalore fail to get across the line despite a heroic lower order fighback by Nayar and Broad.
Match 4 - Pune win by 10 runs. Kohli and Yuvraj anchor the innings and get the team to an average total. Chennai find themselves 4 wickets down in a hurry with Vijay, Srikanth, Afridi and Raina all falling to good swing bowling from Praveen, Mathews and Unadkat. Chennai never recover from early losses.

Re: Week 1 - Voting - ALL COACHES VOTED
Match 1 - I feel that Mumbai's batting order will post a big total that the relatively weak batting of Deccan will not be able to chase. If Deccan had won the toss I would have backed Imran Tahir to cause some damage in the second innings when there was more turn available. In Malinga and Gul, Mumbai have good death bowling options to limit a late charge by Deccan. Mumbai win by 15-20 runs.
Match 2 - I'm going with Delhi on this one. I feel that in seaming conditions Anderson and Morkel in particular will just be too much to handle, and Delhi have a nice mix of strokemakers and nurdlers to ensure they keep ahead of the game throughout. Delhi win by 10 runs.
Match 3 - Royal Challengers win this one, for me. I feel that their spin options are the greater, and will combine to keep the run rate down and take wickets, too. RCB win by 20 runs.
Match 4 - No vote.
Match 5 - I'm going with Rajasthan, in a very very tight game. I feel that Warne, Watson and Johnson may prove to be a deadly trio in these conditions, just managing to hold out for the win. Rajasthan win by 3 runs.
