US Open Day 9/10 07/09
First topic message reminder :
Well the weather laid waste to play yesterday. Other outdoor courts will be used.
On Arthur Ashe in the afternoon session is:
Muller v Nadal
Djokovic v Tipsarevic
On Louis Armstrong
Ferrer v Roddick
On Grandstand
Murray v Young
Isner v Simon
Night Session
Federer v Tsonga
Now will the organisers consider a Monday final?
Look at it this way. The winners of the 4th round today would have to play again tomorrow. Then the semi's on Saturday as well as the final on Sunday.
The US Organisers really need to look at their schedules for the future.

Re: US Open Day 9/10 07/09
Here are the players thoughts:
Andy Roddick: "I think if it's up for discussion if the court's playable or not, then it's not playable. Walking out there it was still misting. The back of the courts were still wet. We wanted to make it known we didn't want to be put in that position. I certainly understand they need to put tennis on TV, I understand the business side of it as well, but players need to feel comfortable and safe. To [tournament referee] Brian Earley's credit, when we did go in there he listened to us. He was very nice in the conversation."
Andy Murray: "It's dangerous. The lines get really slippy. Players want to play more than anyone, but not when it's dangerous. The back of the court was soaking and the balls were wet too. Everyone mentioned it to the officials but they said it was fine. It didn't make sense to go out on court for seven or eight minutes and then come back inside. It won't happen again today."
Rafael Nadal: "We don't want to go on court if it is raining. If I have to go on court, I go on court, but I think it's not fair. We are not protected. There is a lot of money at the Grand Slams but we are part of the show. They are just working for that and not for us. It was still raining when they called us on court. The rain never really stopped, the courts were not dry. I know the fans are there but the health of the players is important."
I'd have loved to have been able to listen to that conversation
Also, there's an interesting bit of chat here about the whole roof situation

right, no more men's tennis for today, they've decided to give the women's QFs priority over the men's R4, shambles! Djokovic and Federer must be laughing so hard right now...

Well congrats to Djokovic or Federer on winning the US Open.
To be honest I cannot see anyone from the lower half being able to play four matches in four days to win the Open and no doubting that the lower half's semi will also be the late semi.

Well, it has to be a Monday finish now. At least!
Either that or make the Federer Djokovic semi a best of 9 sets match.

Fooking disgrace. By far the worst organised slam I have known.

I think the players should boycott next year. Organisers with their heads up their backsides and no clue how to run a tournament. Money talks and sh!t walks. Cannot contain my utter disdain for the US Open. Thanks a lot America.

There must be a joke in this somewhere.
How many American officials does it take to ruin a grand slam event? OK the weather doesn't help but these guys seriously shouldn't bother turning up tomorrow and let the players sort it out for themselves.

Sadly they sacrificed a well equipped roof for an extremely wide and large stadium, now who's laughing ATP?
