Lawrence Dallaglio
Lawrence Dallaglio view of the home nations chances in the world cup.

Fair enough I think.

I read as far as "Lawrence Dallaglio, Ass" and was in total agreement.
I notice it was "his" world cup winning squad despite him being stripped of the captaincy, and we all know it was won single handedly by Wilkinsons foot.

Is it his relative success against the Tigers that grates?

OK ridiculous. He just reminds me of Ross Kemp in Extras every time he speaks. Its like hes a characeture of himslef. He was a fine rugby player but I find self promotionalists and egotists of his type cringeworthy at times. Its easy to poke fun at someone with such high opinions of themselves and tehir importnace to the world, ask the Greyghost.

Not as much as his unshackable arrogance. If you asked him now whether he thought he was still good enough to go to the RWC with England he'd say definitely. The fact he bangs on about 'his' team in 2003 where he was nearly dropped at the start of the tournament due to the form of Moody and the undroppable nature of the flankers. His derision of Brian Ashton and emphasising the legendary players meeting after the SA game was also pretty cheap considering that Brian Ashton had brought him back from the international waste land.
Dallaligio was always about style over substance and his place in the most annoying club team of the last decade doesn't help either.

Is there any country that Dayglo doesn't claim he could've played for. During the ITV series he's pretty much bagsied them all!

Yeah you're right. I heard MJ was considering sending out Wilko on his own to face the Argies this weekend but thought the IRB might not like it so changed his mind. I'm sure he could do it on his own though.

omg feel the wahhhs
Dayglo was a brilliant servant of England Rugby and helped lead the charge in the early Woodward years. he is an astute commentator and as a player always got the backs up of his opponents, particularly the Welsh for some reason. His try vs NZ I'll always remember, he was very quick when he was young.
I notice no one disagrees with the meat of what he has said, he's a fairly astute commentator

This has been on ITV2 or ITV3 the past few weeks I think. I thought he was doing well until he started mentioning about the times New Zealand save their best games for England in world cups and how they (Eng) are Australia's bogey team.

I have nothing but admiration and respect for the man but he is famous and therefore deserves any and all ridicule and criticism by his less fortunate/skilled contempories!

nottins_jones, i'm a passionate and fervent England fan but i cannot for the life of me understand why alot of English pundits think that every other team in the world 'raise their game' to play us. It's almost as if they perceive everyone shuffling around, going through the motions until England arrives and they can 'up their game' to play us!
I find it toe curlingly cringeworthy to watch, Inverdale is a key proponent of this. Cthulhu help us if we ever win the feicing thing again!

There would be a new bank holiday, Martin Johnson would be deified and become St Martin of Bettlebrow, Ashton would be made a KGD (Knight of the glorious dive) and Bananaman an OBE (obviously bluidy excrement)

Re: Lawrence Dallaglio
well the celts do at least, and the French, and the Aussies, and the Saffies.
yep ... that pretty much covers most of the top rugby playing nations.
They all LOVE to beat the English, or, the fans certainly do. I've been in pubs where these teams have played each other and the banter is nothing like as edgy (I'm not saying hostile as they are genuine rugby fans, the only hostile atmosphere I've been in has been when wendyball fans stay on after a footie match, or are jumping on the RWC bandwagon).

For some reason I get no sounds with that video.
I'm just thinking how much less I would resent Dayglo if he was a mute.
With just his lips moving and his head bobbing around, he looks like he could almost be saying something sensible.

Re: Lawrence Dallaglio
What he says in the interview is a fair enough assessment. The fact that some have resorted to slagging him off as a person is indicative of jealousy. There isn't a NH team he wouldn't have walked into from 2000 to 2003. Watching him and the rest of the English 'Gargoyles' (incidentally, that was a quote by a Kiwi journalist) maul the AB into exasperated submission when down to 13 men will stay with me for a long time. Dayglo was a world class player in a team of world class players.
I doubt that even should he read this article that he;d care what any of you said, since his achievements speak for themselves.

Cheap jibe, of course I wouldnt say it to his face. It might hurt his feelings. It doesnt stop it being true though.
And theres no need for personal insults, calling me a Holly Wilaboobie was needless abuse.

I hardly think accusing you of being the pot calling the kettle black could be classed as abuse. Of course, if the cap fits... mind you, what does calling Lol a 'Holly Wilaboobie' count as? Oh yes, its the pot calling the kettle black isn't it?
What you said may only true in your head, as I said, its your opinion. But don't try to push it as fact. As I said, you don't know him personally, so don't you think it would be a good idea to get back to the original topic, which had nothing to do with the man as a person and was to do with his considered opinions.

Most people will respect his sporting achievement but of course not everybody will admit it.
As a person I guess a few would feel that Lawrence is not that likable and his alleged involvement with a illegal substance may have blotted his copy book.
Personally I respect his sporting achievement but he does come across as being a talker rather than a listener.

EVERYONE RAISES THEIR GAME TO FACE ENGLAND WALES, FACT!
dayglo speaks sense when talking about anything other than england or himself. he was a great player, and i bear no ill's to any mans choice of personal recreation (allegedly admittedly). i get the feeling he doesnt get that cringey feeling when he hears a recording of his voice like the rest of us do with our own though.
