The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub Empty The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub

Post by Pete C (Kiwireddevil) Thu 08 Sep 2011, 1:05 pm

Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the collage of great modern open-side flanker pictures on the bar. We've got Dusatoir, Jennings, Pocock, Brussow and McCaw up, all in action "pilfering pill". Graffiti's a banning offence Wink

So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Ale cider guinness coffee mug cuppa Bubbly RedWine

I'm surprised they let Dusautoir captain the national side seeing as he smokes an American brand!

I bought a packet of Gitanes years ago. Strongest cigarettes I've ever smoked.

We just haven't made it a banning offence to deface those Glas Wink. Mainly because they're high on the wall in the pokie machine room and a bit hard to reach.

lucky - I was the same as for that Lions game in 2001 in my old local. And the pub cricket team had to play a game that afternoon. Thank feic it was rained off is all I will say. Trying to play cricket while seeing double is not a good idea!! Shocked

Was jealous of one of the lads who went on that tour. He phoned the pub from the stadium in Brisbane just before kick off, the gloating barsteward.

Marseille was alright. Lovely place by the looks. I was speaking to a fella who said he loved Toulouse rugby when he heard I was Welsh and I showed him my ticket from Toulouse v Dragons in January. He asked me could he have it, so I let him cos I'm nice like that. He thought I played for them too (I should really as I've scored more tries this season than them).

Anyway, I thought we might sneak a LBP out of Leinster, but now Adam Hughes is on the wing again and not centre, we can forget it.

Afternoon all anyway.

Fair play on the ticket Rev. I don't hold onto programmes, ticket stubs etc but you should see my boss. He has all the programmes from every match he's been to or played in.

Rugby jerseys and posters all around the walls here. He wouldn't part with a ticket like that as they are sentimental to him.

Fair play.

I have stacks of em too Stag. Soccer and Rugby. Jerseys, programs ( match-ticket inside) ... going back to the 80's. Memories of games and great times. Must get them out and decorate the walls. One day...

Edit. And music gigs too. Sad git.

Ah you should do Gibbo. Get yourself a man room in your gaff. Rugby and soccer memorabelia all over the walls. Big TV for the rugby, coach, fridge with beers and snacks. Enjoy retirement.

We;ve a nice setup here. My boss uses it to relax in. His wife doesn't want his clutter taking up the house. So theres Munster, Ireland, England, Toulouse jerseys up. Italy, Springbok, New Zealand memorabelia. Old rugby balls from important games etc. And then the fridge, TV, microwave and coach combination too.

I'll take a vid and show it to you someday Gibbo!

As Hobo's off doing John Hartson Foundation stuff this arvo I've announced the Russian jersey quote competition winner outside.

Also Hobo asked me to tell you he's going to be trying to post video on youtube from the match this afternoon if you fancy checking it out - try searching for user 606v2JHF after kick off.

It meant more to him than me Stag. I used to collect programmes, but now I find them a pain to pay for and then carry. I've got loads of pictures for my memories of Toulouse too (plus N'Tamack's autograph).

I am going to set up a memorabilia room though I think. Have a Ryan Jones Welsh training top, Richard Parks' 737 Dragons shirt and I'll also put my Gwent cap and RAF U21 and RAF Scotland shirts in. Remind me of some great times then.

Nice collection Rev. Love the shirts. My fav one is a Toulouse Supporters jersey. Its mighty fine. I swapped it for a Leinster one with a French guy outside Kielys. He was in a wheelchair and we had pints. Lovely geezer. He had shirts from all over. Had travelled all over. Told me some great rugby stories. I love that. Its so much part of rugby.

I have every ticket stub for every game I’ve been at. Leinster one’s anyway, and probably 90% of the Dubs tickets too. I have all of my gig tickets as well, its one thing I can never bring myself to throw away.

There’s a great website called “I was there”, you send them your ticket and they frame it with a picture from that game. Might get the 2 HC final ones done.

One for the Leinster regs, I just clicked through (doing my bit for the forum Wink ) a CCC banner ad, they have a half price sale on and the Leinster jersey was £25.

Edit, sold out of larger sizes though.

Good evening everyone coffee Had a really good week in the other place. I wish I could stay there Crying or Very sad Met some lovely people and enjoyed the work. Ah well...

Day off tomorrow so I can have a cooked brekkie with the rugby on - that's going to be weird. Erm

Not keen on the choice of bar pictures...except Mccaw. He'd have it, but I prefer Kahui Wink we should've kept Wally up...I'm gonna miss him sooo bad. Still, there's Tommy heart

Oh and about the tickets thing. I've got a programme for every gig I've been to (where they were selling them) and have most of the tickets. I've got all but one tickets for the matches I've been to, and a programme for all of them bar the Amlin Final.

Hi Harrow. Doesn't work like that....it's all red tape. If I went to the place I was in this week, my wages would have to be paid out of another budget, and they wouldn't be willing to do that....it's complicated...we're all supposed to be one big happy organisation, and yet they have different budgets for different wages.
