The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the collage of great modern open-side flanker pictures on the bar. We've got Dusatoir, Jennings, Pocock, Brussow and McCaw up, all in action "pilfering pill". Graffiti's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Looks like Tongas purple patch is over and NZ are coming back into it.
Agree with Pete that its perfectly normal for England to be the main focus once this is over. Their game is tomorrow and they have large fan base.

Beautiful pass from Corey Jane for Nonu to score.

Of course they should favour England. Wales is part of England. NI is a Junta. And Scotland are near Independent and have no rugby fans. In fairness...
Just sayin... let it go. Its the way it is...

Viewers in Wales can watch S4C if you're that fed up of ITV during the Wales games.
"World In Union' may be the official song but there's still a certain Stereophonics number that we all hold dear to our hearts

Cymroglan wrote:Pete that is total nonsense you are getting like the Yanks you are just interested in hearing about yourself.
When it comes to rugby viewing figures the numbers will be far closer.
One off international matches you may be right, the figures would be closer. The World Cup, not the case, many non regular rugby fans will be watching and based on population England will have more of these than Wales, Scotland and N.Ireland.
The other point with ITV is that ITV is a service made up of regionally based franchises and the schedules are different in different areas. The majority of the franchises are based in England, and if you are not regionally based and don't pick up one of the franchised schedules like STV, you inevitably pick up one of the bigger franchise schedules which will be one of the English ones.
If you don't like it, that's fine, as I say, I'm just a bit fed up with hearing about it in here every match, particularly today when it's meant to be a celebration of all nations coming together for the start of the World Cup.

New Zealand have scored well in the Rugby Wooo Cup so far. Bringing on Corey Jane added points, bonus point for SBW losing his shirt as well.

And as an aside I actually had NZ by 30 on Sg (I just checked) so I want Clancy to hurry up and blow that whistle now.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
If you hear about it often does that not tell you that people are fed up with it ?
You have Sky and using the commercially viable excuse on there has some merit due to it being a subscription service.
But ITV's duty is to provide a balanced service for all of the UK
If you are fed up then how do you think we feel when people like yourself say that ITV is a English Channel.

It was great wasn't it? I'd try that one day somewhere, but then I'd probably get some jobsworth in a flourescent jacket harping on about health and safety....

I don't think they're playing today, Pete. I had thought they would be seeing as they're in New Zealand's group, but I don't think they are.

Watch out for him after the Tongan try.
Other highlight for you - SBW changing his shirt

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Lot's of tweets from various places going on about the Ab's not being happy with that and them not playing very well.
I think they will be very happy with that. They did their job, never looked in trouble and can grow into the tournament. There is no point blasting everyone away in the pool stages and then going out in the quarters.

Wow, no mention of England until right at the end when they ran through the upcoming games, in order, meaning they mentioned Scotland first.
Everyone happy now?
Good, let's move on.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I like S4C as they show some of the Welsh Premiership games. Always good watching the lower league stuff like that and the Championship. Sky say they cover the Championship, but excluding the play offs I think they showed something like 2 games last season which is crap.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
S4C do a brilliant Heineken Cup highlights programme as well, show all the tries and usually have more lengthy highlighs of the Welsh regions. I loves it.
Pete -yeah it's great they show the Welsh prem games, it's a brilliant way to keep an eye out for the up and coming players to see if they can break through to the regional sides.

That game will have no bearing at all in the later stages in my opinion. I've never seen a team battle hardened enough to make a World Cup Semi or Final lose that many lineouts, miss that many tackles, turnover that much ball. It's just going to be a different game in the knockouts, and thats not to say New Zealand won't rise to the challenge, but this isn't really relevant to that.

Anyone else think the Kiwi actually did very well overall? I'm surprised to read so much negative press about 15 minutes of decent Tongan play.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
They should be content with the performance. First hurdle cleared, on to the next one.
You chose the right half to sleep through at least, Mrs P!
