The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the collage of great modern open-side flanker pictures on the bar. We've got Dusatoir, Jennings, Pocock, Brussow and McCaw up, all in action "pilfering pill". Graffiti's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

No, I think they did very well but they are being judged by the standards they themselves have set. Ultimately no other side would get that reaction from that performance.
That's the pressure that will make them or break them.
In other news, it's a testy atmosphere in the France camp for the opening game;
Yeah... tense!

During the Six Nations Championship France lost 22-21 to Italy - a setback that sent French rugby into temporary turmoil and prompted Lievremont to publicly lambast his players in brutal terms.
"It served as a lesson for us," Dusautoir said. "I think the team is better equipped and stronger than it was then."
As Dusautoir was finishing his sentence, Lievremont cut in with "let's hope so."
Yeah... tense!

Everyone happy now?
Good, let's move on.
I thought we had till you had the last word on it
Off to watch the Inbetweeners movie and then Dragons tonight. Not going to do Flip all in Dublin, but as long as we give it a better crack. Hopefully they'll overtake me in this season's try scoring stakes too.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I loved the first half.
I thought the ABs looked great.
Oh to have our back line display those skills.
The sleepiness was probably contributed to by the youngest deciding that our bed was the place to be at 1am and the middle P having a nose bleed at 3am!
Very excited about the whole thing really and I didn't mean to imply that the rugby was boring.

Extremely unusual for me to fall asleep during the day, but then again it is extremely unusual for me to be watching rugby first thing on a Friday morning.
Maybe I just need more practise.

I'm meant to be staying at my girlfriends place this weekend. How do I not wake her up when I get up at 7am to watch rugby games

Stag, you'll just have to get out of bed extremely slowly...

awww the service manager at my building is lovely. She just bought flowers for my and my colleague for all the hard work put in, especially as it's always just the two of us holding the fort on a Friday.
I feel marginally less grumpy now

Dreamer,
That is a GOOD manager. Notices when you need a bit of a pat on the back.
Stag,
Get up at 5.30 and bring her breakfast in bed!

Makes more sense than my plan to ply her with drink the night before I think she'll understand about the Ireland v USA game to be fair.

She's not a fan of it actually. Finds it awkward to eat, gets crumbs on her sheets and says its not particularly relaxing.

I guess you'll just have to stick to "slowly and very quietly" then!

Did you know that as many posts were expended in the pub on the game as were shared with the open forum?
I have more interesting stats to share if you are not too sniffy being effectively elitist.

Whats elitist about it Portnoy. The pub is available to anyone. Its an open thread on an open forum. I have no interest in squabbling with the likes of Greyghost in discussing a NZ game.

Did anyone else see the CEO of Manchester City has resigned?
Apparently he sent an e-mail to a City player's mother (who has cancer) making fun of her condition. It doesn't seem to have been intentionally sent to her though.

Portnoy how can this pub be exclusive if anyone can post in it? You really are becoming a bore.
In other news, I almost set myself on fire. I've got a Dyson and they're really powerful, and I accidentally sucked up a stray sock without realising until it started to smell of burning... Hoover is fine, the sock however is not...

Portnoy can we have Portnoy606V1 back. I have to say I don't care much for the way you post on 606V2 Portnoy. Always an unpleasant word or a jibe at someone. Its not you man.
I've come to know you as a fella incredibly sure of his beliefs, passionate about Tigers and English rugby who remembers a type of rugby that I never knew and provides a brilliant foil to those of us who only knows the modern game.
But we are seeing that less and less of late in your quest to be as controversial as possible. I miss you Portnoy606V1. Come back to us.

We don't have any recognition schemes. I'm not even worthy of an invitation to the Christmas party (for the second year in a row).

This pub is a sticky (and therefore easy to skip) . But also I find it a genuine argument that if on a fledgeling board, committed participants aren't prepared to engage with the rest on open posts then it ain't gonna survive.

cymro - I don't give a sheet really. Our senior manager got her knuckles rapped for not using R & R enough anyway.

I do very much engage with the rest of the board, as do many (most?) of the other posters on here. It's up to posters to post however, wherever and as often or rarely they want.
It's a sticky so... it's also easy to not skip. Personal choice and all that.

The whole point of making this a sticky is so it wouldn't get lost amongst the other threads. Also, as far as I know everyone who posts here, posts outside - some more than others indeed, and some more in other places than rugby union, but so what?

Just kidding. I find it hard to take this stuff seriously when there is a massive festival of rugby on the horizon!

Afternoon all, just a very quick check in for me, work's really busy this arvo.
I'm looking forward to getting home and watching the recording of the NZ game, I managed to see about 25 minutes before my meeting. Hound emailed me a comment from Planet Rugby's review of the game that I liked:
On the plus side, I actually like the plans they announced for the restructure - I get to go back to doing 1 job again instead of 2 half-jobs.

.Got the win, got the job done in the first half. Took it a bit easier in the second and avoided injuries

Its a top film Rev. Cute girls and slapstick giggles.
Munster v Glasgow isn't televised. No company thought people would want to watch the standard they'd serve up Its the likes of the Dragons who are the media darlings. isn't that right Rev.
Festival of rugby is a great term. Its one that M.Williams uses on Setanta to describe the pool stage of the RWC. Its do or die rugby after and both need to be handled differently.

Aw bollix. It's a forum and I'll talk rugby if I want to.
Notch, MrsP forgot to add the all important Rugby Woo Cup. At the moment NZ are leading. Only cause SBW lost his shirt and Kahui scored twice so there were plenty of shots of him
I don't know if I can stay up for Fiji/Namibia, so I'll have to look for some highlights of that game. I'm going to try and watch Scotland tonight, but then that means forfeiting France tomorrow...or sleep...

Cari - cheers. We don't actually have a recognition scheme at my work the service manager is just lovely in giving us gifts if she thinks she's worked hard. No work policy at all, she's just that brilliant
Notch - I didn't know that was Tonga's best ever result against NZ. Got to say i was so incredibly glad when they scored a try in the 2nd half, I honestly thought they'd get all their points from kicks.
Really looking forward to seeing all of the NZ tries too when I get back home, they can be such a great team to watch when they fully click.
