The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the collage of great modern open-side flanker pictures on the bar. We've got Dusatoir, Jennings, Pocock, Brussow and McCaw up, all in action "pilfering pill". Graffiti's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

I hope the weather's nice in Bridgend....there's supposed to be the orse end of a hurricane heading over here next week!
Well done Leinster. Commiserations Dragons.

FT 31-10, v good win for Leinster, much improved from last week. Harsh for the Dragons, but these two opening away fixtures were always going to be really tough.
And I'm off to get some kip now. Hopefully I feel better at 1:30am to get up and watch Scotland play
Nos da for now.....

You could chuck that argument at me if you had full stadiums week in week out, I travel down South on a regular basis and so do many others from up North.
If regional rugby can't get the fans in from the heartland what makes you think they will get them from virgin territory? Football is the main game up your way, but you haven't got a team in the top four divisions.

Football is far more popular down your end,,,The sad thing is your way of thinking is exactly how the WRU have been thinking for the last 100 years.
The reason you wont support your regions is because you are involved in this petty squabbling the North will have none of that,

Ok
That's what seeped into their sub-consciousness. They beat themselves before they ran on the field. When things started to go wrong they imploded. They looked like schoolkids starved of ball, once they had it they panicked.

What! Football is ubiquitous throughout the country, rugby is concentrated in south and south east Wales. Before professionalism there was hardly a stream of North Wales clubs working up the higher leagues. They could have taken opportunities to sort this at moments of flux such as the inception of leagues and the regions. They didn't. Trist iawn, very sad.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Glas a du they were always blocked from being promoted, There always has been several clubs in North Wales.
Fortunately there are hard working club officials here in the North working hard to keep the clubs going with very little help from the WRU.
Hey we could even have competed with New Zealand If they had decided to form a little enclave around Wellington.
Any fool would know that we as a small country need to search in every corner of Wales,

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
The Crusaders was an artificial concept. It didn't work. Wrexham FC are not in the league. There are no north Wales clubs in the premiership, or anywhere near. Welsh club rugby can sustain 3 1/2 regions and we have four. What makes you think north Wales can sustain a fifth?

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
You have four are you telling me that North Wales should not have one ?
Who is keeping your four regions going? it certainly is not the crowds at the gate.
Obviously there is not enough interest in Rugby down South to sustain four regions so lets move one up North.
Let the kids up north here have a equal opportunity as the kids down South to progress further than just play club rugby.
At the end of the day you need to look at the bigger picture.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
That's the fishbowls problem it's irrelevant what region gets sacrificed it's all for the good of Wales with one region gone it will not add any more to the petty squabbling.
There is no major sport in North Wales sponsorship will not be a problem here.

or not
no matter, really looking forward to this match, hoping for a really good Scottish performance. This group could easily come down to points difference so they've relaly got to go for it I feel.

Still here. Just...
Good start from the scots. Not fond of their shirt colour though I must say. Too similar to one of their old football jersey.

Right I'm hitting the sack. Scottish backs look decent. Romanian pack very impressive. Just need a few backs and learn how to tackle when they don't have the ball. I hate to say it but Scotland are in trouble here.

Morning! Up bright and early, but not sure if there's anyone in here to join me?
Nalaga has just scored a try to seal the game for Fiji here, 47-25. Heard about the Scots troubles? Interesting game.

Like a big game of sevens.
EDIT: I joined in at half time to watch Fiji v Namibia and they were talking about the Scotland game. The horror! Fortunately they made it up by mentioning "the game we're all waiting for" England v Argentina

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
especially when you consider when Romania were beating them in the scrum on the Scotland 5m line, had a chance to go for another scrum (which you would think they were almost certain to score from), but they went for a kick at goal instead, and then missed! golden opportunity lost for them I feel.
