Oh trust me I wont. I bet he hasnt changed either. Maybe hes found a new fighter to pathologically hate. There is a bloke on Youtube called 'Calslappy the coward' who posts abusive stuff on every Joe fight, interview, etc. Thats just not normal isit. Wouldnt suprise me if that was Ceej

Think Calzaghe will settle for being a genuine two time lineal world champion, means far more than picking up one of the many belts available, just saying.

His current favourite is slagging Manny off steffan but have to guess it would not take too long to get him going on Calzaghe.

Not saying Dawson was that far ahead but at that time Calzaghe was fighting in a new category so left his super middle days behind him. Am glad he didn't fight Pavlik because he would have showed him up and the haters would have mercilessly consigned Pavlik to the scrapheap of over-hyped Americans. Dawson however was slick and clever enough not to be ruthlessly outclassed and a win here would have looked better in historical terms for Joe, especially given the fact he'd be a genuine two weight world/ring magazine champion.

An epic contrarian - loved nothing better than taking the opposite opinion of others.
Also a massive prat.

Im not suprised he hates Manny. I bet he loves Mayweather as despite claiming to be from 'the country next door to mine that im not allowed to mention' he was much like Trussman in his "America has the best fighters, bests fights, no other country is as good etc" ways

It's things like that I can't fathom, considering the fight didn't happen we have no way of knowing that Calzaghe would have showed Pavlik up, he would be favourite to win but style wise it would be very different to Hopkins/Pavlik who's ring intelligence is far superior to that of Calzaghes.

Main difference is that Dawson is American, which usually garners more attention.

Then why the need at the time to attack those who called for that fight. I'm sorry ox, but to me, your actions were of a person who didn't want to see that fight.
And therefore I must ask- why?

??Attack?
Not sure I've ever attacked anyone on here. By attack, I presume, you mean to take every opportunity to follow someone to disagree with their every word, however reasonable each point they make may be? Did I offend you in a previous incarnation of have I merely forgotten some imagined slight?
I wanted Joe to retire, on the grounds that I felt he'd slowed down significantly and had lost some degree of punch resistance. As such, I understood when he chose to fight RJJ in a big money-low risk fight.
PS. Please use the quote function. Its netiquette.
Ghosty - am I failing to make myself clear? I thought that made sense?

Nothing to add to the debate as I am not sure I fully understand it but just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the term netiquette.

Every bit of me wants to see Cleverly clobbered just because of the hype the Welsh lads have been pouring on him.
I don't have an affinity for Bellew though (hard to when he opens his mouth), hope to see a good fight although i can forsee a Clev win after Bellew goes into his shell after all his yapping.

Quite what that's got to do with anything is beyond me. And doubtful dear boy to boot as they've got our economy into a pretty robust position, thanks in no part to getting our debt under control. Providing most of the country has an IQ level about 10 it's pretty obvious we're stable and not in danger of going anywhere boobies up like we were some 2 years ago.
I do really hope for a Bellew win, promise me you'll still frequent the boards even though you won't have a huge amount to talk about!?

Funny how nationalist butt-licking can really turn you off a fighter isn't it? I've liked Clev for a while, saw him at Warren's Magnificant 7 night at Wembley Arena, but the obsession of some people with all things Welsh is starting to grate and grind away at my appreciation of the guy.

Ditto. His whole "Rocky Balboa" articles (if you can call them that) was what did it for me.
Was the same with JC, a bunch of guys blindly playing Pied Piper just because of nationality grated on me.

It is an odd thing isn't it I find myself coming across as chairman of the Wlad fan club a lot of the time on here when I am pretty ambivalent on him and don't have him any higher than the lower reaches of the top 20 heavies but find some people's analysis of him so negative I find myself defending him far more vehemently than is perhaps reflective of my opinions

Re: Bellew tries to headbutt the Clev
Same thing happened with Manny.
most people were pretty sold on his greatness, and then 1 guy came along and began to preach about how he was the greatest man in history, let alone boxing.
Manny ended up losing fans. Even though he still would beat Armstrong, Robinson and JCC whilst weighing in at 140 himself all on the same evening with both legs tied together.
Wouldn't you agree coxy?

That's a very good example actually Oxring. Used to really like Manny but after reading these boards for a while, and then joining a few months ago, I actually quite went off him and not because of catchweights or drug testing, but due to the unqualified obsession of one poster.
Funnily enough I started to warm to him again over the last couple of months, wonder why.....?

Re: Bellew tries to headbutt the Clev
Anyone remember the greatest mexican/hispanic boxer article?
Someone and I won't name any names, as a mod - it wouldn't be becoming - but someone came on insisting that the greatest Mexican/hispanic boxer of all time was Manny Pacquiao.
That did it for me. I'd defended the obsession before but I couldn't defend THAT.

Nice, think my tipping point was the description of Manny as one of the biggest punching welterweights ever or some such nonsense, truly the straw that broke the camels back that one.

Or the fact that Manny was the more accurate boxer than Mayweather because he tried to miss with some of his punches?

A big mistake that a lot of inexperienced boxers make, maybe not so much in the amatuers as every blow scores individually, can save a lot of energy and fool your opponent for the powers shots, make gaps in there defence etc.

Bellew has a shiiiiittteee record and he aint got a hope. His record suggests he's not even a banger unless he fights my postman so you'll have to deal with the Nationalism a while yet! Actually I aint even that much a fan of the Clev to be honest but as long as he batters that scouse doorman I don't care.

Who was that Vince was going after Steffan, thought Jane was a bit harsh telling him to chill if someone is staring him out and calling him a soloist, he doesn't get to go in the ring so he needs to get it on there if he wants to

Re: Bellew tries to headbutt the Clev
To be honest I wouldnt blame Clev for pulling out of this fight for now on safety grounds
Only yesterday you had a Bellew fan on a facebook Cleverly fan page making threats of violence towards Clev fans coming up to the Echo Arena
I dont like particularly Vince Cleverly but this lowlife from Bellews camp has taken it too far
Plus Bellew tried to headbutt the Clev and is saying things like "10,000 people will be baying for his blood"
What will happen when Clev wins...a riot? Clev or Vince getting attacked? Clev fans getting attacked as promised on the facebook group?
The way things are going this fight is starting to stink of Hagler v Minter all over again

Don't worry Steffan, causing a load of trouble is the only way this clown Bellew stands a chance in the fight. He's got to unsettle Cleverly and somehow hope he gets badly shaken up by it all. So long as he don't there's only one winner and it aint the scouser.

Doubt we will hear much off Bellew after this fight thankfully. He is a European level fighter getting 5 mins of fame for taking on a guy way above his level for a world title he has no chance of winning. Everyone loves an underdog I guess. Vince is another matter altogether. We have this clown to put up with for a while unfortunately
