England vs India 4th ODI Debate
First topic message reminder :
So the 4th ODI is about to be underway.
1 change for England, Steven Finn comes in for Jade Dernbach. India going in with the same xi that lost a close match last time around.
Finn for Dernbach, I think is a good move, this being Finn's home ground, he should know the conditions pretty well. And he's a real wicket taker, although he may go for a few. Dernbach has been bowling too many slower ones these days, and the Indians seem to have decoded him to some extend.
India going in with PK, Munaf and RP Singh. Can't understand the logic of it. When will Varun Aaron get a game?
England winning the toss and bowling, on a track that should offer some early help to the pacers.
Your thoughts??

The runner, and the fact that several times he wasn't ready to face as the England bowler started to run in I think. Bit of a horrible shot by him to get out, so it seems England managed to get under his skin there.

now the Indian having a go at Broad for giving Parthiv a bit of a send off, all he did was wag his finger at Parthiv a bit, nothing wrong with that IMO. Nass saying that he's one of those "great to have on your side" type of cricketers.

interesting from Nass (any flying pigs out there?): says he spoke to Fletcher at the toss and Fletcher was saying he needs Dravid to bat through today...

The Indian never loses faith and never seems to care much for Eng sadly,

Re: England vs India 4th ODI Debate
Commies reckon England got under Rahane's skin today, had a bit of a go at him, and maybe that's why he played the way he did. If that's the case he needs to toughen up a bit, as he can expect plenty more around the world.
Why is Bopara still on?

Re: England vs India 4th ODI Debate
too many wides today.
anyway, if the pitch is suiting pace and you have 40 overs of Anderson, Broad, Bres, Finn.. then why play Bopara at all?
You can always afford your ten overs of spin with Swann surely, he couldn't really be any worse than Bopara even if it's not turning?

Re: England vs India 4th ODI Debate
Exactly you have 5 genuine on form bowlers, don't need to bowl anyone else.
Re: England vs India 4th ODI Debate
kindof just releases the pressure built up by the others, seems to me anyway.

Now the big hitter is in..
actually they look stronger down the order now don't they. Even after these the next pair are still very strong.
Very competitive match.

Blimey, how often do you see a Wall collapsed by a Swann?

Kind of makes the point that there is no need to toch Bopara in this innings. Too expensive and the other bowlers all seem in touch. Maybe Bres being the worst but he always comes good.

India, going in with 2 spinners, may not be bad at all!.

England on top now. For such a great player of spin, that really was a pretty ordinary shot by Dravid. Makes you wonder why Swann wasn't bowling earlier...

the pitch isnt turning...
its lords its flat, and its not change over the course of a day, i highly doubt there will be much spin if any..

I think it gives you the edge in this match. Should win it today.
If t is to be very wet in Wales then you must do to get that tour win against Eng.
although that's if they bowl like Swann.. But he's not actually got much turn really. We shall see.

Positive as always Trebell
Re: England vs India 4th ODI Debate
lol, well they have to win eventually Liam surely?
Their two spinners give them a bit of edge anyway, assuming it doesn't get damp later.

Re: England vs India 4th ODI Debate
Thought Jadeja or Dhoni should have come ahead of Raina. Raina is at his best coming in with 10-12 overs remaining. Not the one to depend to bat through for some time. And he doesn't play Swann with any kind of confidence.
And Jadeja, unlike Raina can't go for it right from the word go, he would have been at his best getting in first and then going for it at the end.

Nas says 250. You only know when they've both batted don't you, as the saying goes.

bbc feed slagged Cook off for instantly letting off the pressure with his fields in Swanns second over.
Always easier to type a good win though isn't it.

Re: England vs India 4th ODI Debate
Hi everyone
Funny old game today. Bright start , couple of wickets , quiet spell and I'm thinking India setting up for 280 and probably pulling one back here - and then Swann gets two in one over and they're back struggling again.
I'm agreeing with Athers and co , like to see Cook go for the throat in these situations rather than continue in containment mode. Still , if he keeps winning...
Don't know about Nass but I think they'll want more than 250.
