England vs India, 5th ODI Debate

First topic message reminder :

So the 5th ODI between India and England is underway, the last act in a terrible summer tour for India, and an opportunity to win at least 1 international match.
A win for England would be a nice way to cap off a wonderful summer.
India have their regular quota of injury yet again, and this time, its their best bowler Praveen Kumar. R Vinay Kumar, and not Varun Aaron takes his place in the XI.
For England, Jimmy Anderson is getting a much deserved rest, and Jade Dernbach gets another game. Johnny Bairstow, the impressive young wicket keeper batsman from Yorks, is in pllace of Ben Stokes, and Samit Patel is getting another game.
The weather has already resulted in a delaied start, and further trouble can be expected.

Stupid target losing 60 balls dl is, well, balls.

10 overs = 33 runs

It is an odd system but it is the best we have unfortunately. Sometimes it works in your favour, other times it won't.

Well when you look at it another way. India were to face 50 overs with 10 wickets. England have the same amount of wickets with 10 overs less so theoriticall can bat more attackingly.

Kieswetter has a really big job to do today if England are going to come close. The hitter has to hit.

Stupid target, quite happy if it rains off now as that's not even making India work for it.

One reason I as am massively glad they arre going home (aside from seeing english fans back in our grounds) is this arrogant indian bloke on sky.. good riddance to him.

Stuff it I hope the rains come again ...

With this bowling unit, no target can be considered unchasable against Inddia.
if someone in the top order gets going, with a wet outfield and stuff, the spinners will have a difficult task stopping England.
Kieswetter goes, early advantage to India.

Kieswetter didn't help his cause by moving across, but that was missing. A bit of luck coming India's way.
A bad shot from the English batsman, or an umpiring mistake, only ways for the Indian medium pacers to get a wicket!!.

Well that will do it for the RR with England. Cook and Trott in will steady the ship a little too well

I think they might be feeling a bit sorry for the former top side after this summer.

Seriously, for Dravid's sake, I hope there will be a completed game, and India would, for a change, come out on the right side.

I hope so as well, he has been one of the all time greats so he deserves a full game.

I gu4ess the neutral would want such a great to go home with sometime. it's been an awful final series and summer for the poor old wall.

If the rain holds we should have time for a result. But the rain can be quite heavy at times.

No Billy. going by India's situation in the tour, it would be porring down after 19.5 overs with England behind, or Jonathan Trott would bash 80 of 50 to get England just over the line.

I'm just amazed to see a game where the Indians haven't gone home already by this time (that's what Athers upset the Indian bloke saying the other day lol.. it was true).

240 needed now off 34.. easy for the Indians. 190 needed in just 25? ouch.

Fair enough trebbs but it is the last game, a dead rubber and India desperately want to win at least once. This is Indias match now

England going along nicely indeed, 183 of 144 balls, If they manage to go at around 5.5 for the next 15 overs or so without losing too many, we will have a game.

Its just all going wrong for India. I still think that either Trott or Cook should take the attack to the bowlers and not leave to much to do later

Ashwin's into the attack, get Jadeja from the other end, at least get as many overs as possible, before the approaching rain gets in the way, yet again.

I think the damp is making it tough for turners.

Ashwin and the one i can't spell only really had good conditions for themselves at the Oval.

Overs like this give the game to India.. rr is crucial now with the rain coming back.

Overs like that are match winning and serve to remind us these are not T20 players.
