First topic message reminder :

Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the collage of great current hookers pictures on the bar. We've got Tincu, Ledesma, Ford, Best, Thompson and Bennett Shocked all in action. Graffiti's a banning offence Wink

So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Ale cuppa coffee mug guinness cider RedWine Bubbly

We have GOD on our side for our trip to Connacht, thanks to our injuries. Geraint O'Driscoll has been brought into our squad. Ash Smith and Wayne Evans seem fit too, so our backs crisis isn't so bad. Adam Hughes and Mike Poole are injured though. Still not expecting anything from Galway again though.

Anyway, leave you lot to it I think. Might go for a little drive to ease my boredom for a bit.

Tell that to Ummm, Rev. He' s texting me every time they win. And I'm expecting a happy text this weekend. I'm dreading us playing Connacht in the state we are in now. It will be a heavy-breathing phone call. I know im. He's like that.

The first thing I would say is; don't buy your guitar from E-Bay. You should ALWAYS play a guitar before you buy it.

True that. It's a lot like a woman. You can spend some time together, get to know each other before you make a commitment... or you can order from a dodgy website. Guess which one works out better? Smile

That said, I will contradict myself in that I know a musician who is selling her guitar right now (she's mainly a singer) and she's trustworthy enough. So I could put you in touch.

OK. I'm confused like a little bhoy now. Can you tune a woman?

Tried it. They tried it. Doesn't work.

I know, lets just sing the same song - in a different pitch and phhok the differ. It would save 1000's of years trying to change it.

Just a suggestion mind.

Good question man. No. I didn't get arrested perse. This woman was a Dutch copper. She had her own handcuffs. Independent. I'll probably love her forever, for the hiding she gave me.

Saved me 300 guilders. Fair play.

Notch, I was looking on eBay and there is a lad selling loads of guitars, but he has his shop in London so I might just get it from him, just playing with ideas really at the minute.

I can play a few cords already just from messing about on buddys guitars and ill just teach myself the rest. I do have manky fingers though that don't like to bend in certain waya so iy might just scupper me haha

Denmark Street, London. Go there.

First place I visited when I went to London as a tourist after hearing about it for years, reading about it in guitar magazines etc. Didn't disappoint! Used to be recording studios and rehearsal studios- its always been associated with music. Now there are loads of guitar shops and screeds of listings for London bands looking for personnel. 95% are no doubt really bad, but still...

You live in London- whats your excuse? Smile

Nice one. Tell me if any of the Schools players impress, but it's a bit young for the Academy boys to feature.

This is the single most amazing thing I've read;

Even if its completely and utterly untrue it remains amazing.

Munsty,

Talk to her about how pretty/intellegent/lovely some other girl is?

It depends on how often you have to see this girl and how determinedly she is persuing you.

Harsh but effective.

NOOOOOO! that will just steel her resolve!

Try this:

1 start conversation

2 tell her how much you love her, want to marry her and have her babies

3 burst into tears and say you have been very stressed recently, take a tablet out if your pocket with a shaky hand, Woody Allen style, then talk about the last time you were sectioned.

4 fart, pick your nose and eat it and scratch your bum.

5 tell her you want her to meet your sister and would she mind if she watched/joined in

If she's still around by then marry her.

Notch, what type of guitar do you play?

I’ve a bog standard Takamine G-series with a big crack in the veneer and a half a bottle of baileys staining the inside, it still sounds nice though. A good session guitar. And I’ve a 12 string Freshman that my familiars got me for my 21st, really nice but I don’t play it that often, rips the fingers off me!

I have a bog-standard Fender American Stratocaster (from their factory in California). FYI, the hierarchy of Strats is California (Custom Built to order), Japan/America, Mexico.

There is much debate about whether American or Japanese Strats are better. Both have their advocates.

My acoustic guitar is a Parkwood electroacoustic with a cut off.

This is the same model as my Parkwood;
Spoiler:

Has a rosewood fingerboard and a spruce top. My strat has a maple fingerboard and neck.

My guitar is a basic Hohner acoustic, the first and only acoustic I've owned. I had an Epiphone SG for a while years ago. I have a Japanese Fender Jazz bass but I haven't played it for years.

Those Japanese Fender Jazz Basses are class wee instruments!

This is a cracking game.

Ah yes, my mate has a Japanese strat. It’s very nice.
Haven’t played much electric guitar since I sold mine to go to America on a J1, kinda worth it, but I do miss it. it was only an epiphone (SG imitation) but I loved it, thought I was Kelly Jones!
