Pass the Parcel Quiz.
First topic message reminder :
Answer a question - Ask the next one.
Lets see if it catches on.
To start: Heavyweight journeyman Jesse Fergusson has fought 11 past/future World Champions and lost to 10 of them, which did he not lose to?

Re: Pass the Parcel Quiz.
Chris, Galveston. Thanks, fellas.
Okay,
the aforementioned Walcott won the heavyweight title at his fifth attempt. Can you name three other fighters who won world titles in their fifth attempts within the same division ? ( There were more than three, but three will do here. )

I'll take a few guesses here, Windy; Fritzie Zivic, Betulio Gonzalez, Juan La Porte, Rocky Lockridge?

After messing up on Butterbean I figured it best to check this time, Chris, and according to what I read I'm afraid none of these four qualify.

Re: Pass the Parcel Quiz.
This is a tough one, Windy. Given the clue you've just provided, I'll try the names of Daniel Zaragoza and Shoji Oguma?

Strewth, you're not kidding, bellchees.
I just checked his record and he's had umpteen cracks at the title. I'm afraid he doesn't qualify here, though.

He's been a bit unlucky with the quality of opponents he's run into with Barrera, Marquez and Chris John. That's how hard getting a world title should be though.

Let's try another clue.
We're looking for a featherweight, a flyweight and a junior flyweight.

I had to check them, Chris, and unless I'm mistaken they don't quite make it.

Re: Pass the Parcel Quiz.
Last clue.
The ones I'm thinking of are two WBA champs and one WBC champ.
That ought to bring it home, I should have thought.

Would I be right in thinking one of them is a multi weight champion?

Determined to keep me busy aren't you, Ghosty ?
I'd have to check their records. My question was a ' trivia ' question which I read somewhere and found sufficiently interesting to plonk on my hard drive. I make a habit of gathering little snippets of boxing info and dumping them. Trouble is that in a situation such as this I have to check to make sure that the feat hasn't been replicated very recently and I also have to check these guys' records to provide you with clues.

Re: Pass the Parcel Quiz.
You know, fellas, I believe that this question has run its course.
I suggest we throw the quiz open again. If any of you has an idea for a new question, please fire away. Once the new question is in swing I'll post the three names which I have in mind.

Not a clue at the moment on your question Windy. As an alternative that I'm sure someone will get quickly who was the shortest Heavyweight Champion?

Okay, bellchees.
The three names I had in mind were :
WBC lightflyweight champion German Torres,
WBA flyweight champion Susumu Hanagata, ( sounds like a Phil Collins song title, ) and
WBA featherweight champion Marcos Villasana.
I'm away for an hour or two, so I'll leave you fellas to it. Have fun.

It was a technical draw in the first round Chris; I am not sure if it is the only one in history. Very good knowledge.
I am looking for something else though!

Re: Pass the Parcel Quiz.
Perez headbutted Hernandez more or less immediately after the bell; rupturing a vein his own head! The referee stopped the fight on the advice of the ringside doctor; who said that Perez required immediate surgery.

Re: Pass the Parcel Quiz.
Have asked this before back on the old 606
But what is the other term (the old timers probably still use it i.e. Windy, Jimmy and Rowley!) for "boxing gloves"
I.e. What are they also called/have been called at some point in history?
