Lets see if it catches on.

To start: Heavyweight journeyman Jesse Fergusson has fought 11 past/future World Champions and lost to 10 of them, which did he not lose to?

So it's not Naz Scott?

Well, I can't be sure of his intention but I'm almost certain he means all time and not Naz. Not famous really, and to be honest hadn't heard of him until recently when one of his relatives was talking about him, and now again because he's released a book. (Actually should warn that me not hearing of him until recently may not necessarily mean he isn't famous).

Going to watch the footy now, so for anyone that's interested, this is the book I was referring to (opening chapter). Will probably spoil the answer so if you are still guessing don't click, but have hidden the URL to not give it away.

A few decades after Figg. Read this yesterday, it's perhaps a bit too difficult, he isn't one of the most famous bare knuckle boxers.

Tom Johnson is very close, only a few years out. The boxer wasn't English if that helps, but it was for the English barenuckle title.

Been a bit of a slow'un on 606v2 so far today, so thought I'd try to keep this article's march towards the historic one thousand replies mark going.

In the twentieth century, six men scaled 250 lb or more in world Heavyweight title fights. Primo Carnera, George Foreman, Leroy Jones, Lennox Lewis and Buddy Baer were five of them, who is the other one?

Coxy you son of a gun, Grant did scale 250 lb + when he fought Lewis, however that was in 2000. Now at the risk of incurring the wrath of Jeff, when I say 'twentieth century' I'm looking between 1900 and 1999. Apologies to all of those who are just waiting to tell me that the century doesn't fit those parameters!

Good effort with Bruno there, coxy, but that's not the name I'm after. I remember he was 247 lb for the McCall and Tyson (II) fights, but that's the highest weight he ever tipped in a title bout, I believe.

Abe Simon is the one I was after, nice work Scott. I personally don't consider Willard-Moran a full title fight (I don't like counting 'No Decisions' as I'm sure some of you are aware) and he never scaled 250 lb or more for a fully ratified title bout in which all championship conditions were met. But that's open to interpretation, I suppose.

Over to Scott.

We'll have to agree to disagree, if there is the possibility of a title changing hands then it's a title fight, bit hard explaining guys winning a title in non title fights.

Here's one for you all, anyway. What was the unusual reason behind George Bernard's seventh round retirement in his world Middleweight title clash against Billy Papke in 1912?

Jeff, I can think of two certain ones; Jack Skelly against George Dixon for the Featherweight title, and Rafael Lovera for the WBC Light-Flyweight title in 1975 (as I'm sure you know, Lovera's manager had fabricated a made-up record for his fighter to get him his title shot).

Also, wasn't one of 'Nonpareil' Dempsey's opponents in a Middleweight title bout making his debut?
