Yeah thats right Scott, sure it was in Boxing Monthly or Boxing News with a photo or two, i'm sure he would have went easy on him but it's still crazy.

Nice. Didn't read it in a mag, the thread was bumped on another forum recently, was amusing.
I'll spoiler the answer so I don't have to stay and tell you if you're right.
Who did Henry Armstrong place both his Lightweight and Welterweight titles on the line against?

Chris - did riddick bowe never scale over 250lb in a title fight? That surprises me.

New Orleans, 1893. Andy Bowen versus 'Texas' Jack Burke.
The fight is eventually declared a no-contest as both men are too dazed and tired to come out of their corners.
How many rounds had they fought?

110 wasn't it? The longest fight in recorded boxing history.

Yep, 110 rounds taking 7 hours 20 minutes.

Ha ha, it won't take too much Union, like you kept reminding me yesterday, I'm just on a lucky roll at the minute!
Three world champions have lost over fifty fights in their career; Fritzie Zivic and Lauro Salas are two of them. Who is the other one?

If we're counting no decision losses I'd go for Jack Britton, Chris.

Interesting attempt Windy, but the figures I've got don't include 'No Decision' losses. If they did I'm pretty sure that Britton would be one of them though, so good shout.
The name I'm after actually fought the aforementioned Zivic a couple of times.

Probably misspelling this but, given your clue, I'd go for Johnny Jadich.

And Windy just pips it from Ghosty, by a nose! It was indeed Johnny Jadick. Fine work chaps, and the floor is yours Windy.

Cheers, Chris.
Your clue was the clincher and jogged my memory. It was once a trivia question at the BBC forum, I believe.
Okay, easyish one. Which world champion holds the record for the greatest number of fights at Madison Square Gardens ?

Emile Griffith, I believe! At least I know he headlined there more than any other...He better have, seeing as I've included that stat in my biography draft!

Sorry, Chris, but I believe there's one who pips him, having had one fight more at The Garden.

Emile Griffith would have been my thought because a lot of his fights were there and he boxed the most championship rounds. Is this one Zivic again?

Re: Pass the Parcel Quiz.
For the sake of my sanity (and credibility) then Windy, can you confirm that Griffith at least holds the record for having headlined at the Garden, if not the total number of fights?
As for the answer you're looking for, I'll guess at Tony Canzoneri?

Union, coxy, good shouts, fellas, but Chris has nailed it with Canzoneri, who had one more fight at the Garden than did Griffith.
Not sure about headliners, Chris. Would need to check, and I'm far too lazy.

May have to do the count myself, Windy! Can't be using incorrect stats for a bio. Now let's see what I can come up with...
Which British would champion took the smallest amount of fights to reach that goal?

Nice effort Union, but not the name I'm after.
Windy's got it - Paul Weir, WBO Light-Flyweight champion after only six fights, if my memory serves me.

coxy, nice one. D4 will be suitably miffed, no doubt. Union, good idea but not the one I'm after.
Eddie Murphy's ' Joe Louis was 116,' or whatever, when he fought Rocky, doesn't count, either.

Mace is close, Chris, but there's a guy with a name which sounds as though it belongs to a racehorse who beats him.

Re: Pass the Parcel Quiz.
Saoul Mamby (born June 1947) fought Anthony Osbourne in March 2008, which would have made him 60 years old. He doesn't sound much like a racehorse though.

Christ, I knew Mamby boxed on to a ridiculous age but had no idea he'd campaigned as recently as 2008. Was the very definition of a 'gatekeeper' to a division in his Light-Welterweight days.
Struggling with the answer you're after though, Windy.

Okay, HUGE clue.
His first name is the name of a US state. Won't take long for one of you to crack it now.

Well, now it's a giveaway, Ghosty.
He would have started out as a bareknuckler, but he fought most of his career during the Queensbury era.
