Worst Knock Outs Empty Worst Knock Outs

Post by Rich1066 Fri 23 Sep 2011, 9:09 am

I know this will bring alot of opinions on which knockout was the worst. The question is more personel as in what knockout do you remember watching live that shocked you alot at the time? For me it was Morrison Vs Mercer. For the first four rounds Morrison unloaded with everything on Mercer who barely gave a inch. In the third round he delivered a sweet left under cut followed by a beatiful left hook that would have dropped most fighters. Mercer barely moved. In the fifth round Morrison had clearly tired and Mercer had turned him on the ropes and unloaded a couple of shots that seemed to put Morrison in trouble. I can remember shouting "grab him" but Morrison just stood and took the shots and a great body shot from Mercer brought his hands down and then Mercer unloaded. Shocking ref, Morrison took four clean shots he neednt have taken.

Devastating knockout from Mercer and for me one of the most shocking to watch.

What knockouts do you remember that you found to be brutal?

I wasn't around for Griffith-Paret, but have seen it a few times on video, and it never makes for pleasant viewing. In my lifetime, Duran-Moore is an absolute shocker.

Duran vs Moore is tough to watch alright. Recently I thought the ref was shocking in the Montiel Donaire fight. How and why he let Montiel continue after getting splatted like that I'll never know..

Margarito knocking out Cotto has to be one of the worst and one of my most favourite.

Lebedev on Roy Jones was not pleasant to watch. With Jones unconscious but still standing against the ropes, Lebedev turns to the ref who urges him to carry on so Jones gets another one for good measure. Lebedev shrugs as he walks away, clearly not proud of what he has just done. Jones was out cold for a long time too.

Lebedev's against Jones Jr and Frenkel's against Big Mac are the worst in the last year or so especially because the ref was directly responsible for both.

Herol Graham getting KO'd by Julian Jackson comes to mind as Jackson was practically blinf by the time he landed his punch and Graham was out before he hit the floor.

More recently Kendall Holt's rematch with Ricardo Torres which left Torres sagging in the corner after a crayz 60 second fight.

Enzo-Frenkel, because I, and everyone around me, knew he shouldn't have been let back out. Strange atmosphere.

Agree on this one... there was no way he should have been allowed to continue after getting dropped... Sad

Another vote for Frenkel vs Macc. Lebedev vs Jones Jr is also a decent call though, and the Donaire vs Montiel was a little suspect because the ref let Montiel continue when he clearly wasn't capable, though thankfully the ref realised this once Montiel was on his feet and stopped the fight straightaway.

Moore/Macklin. Macklin was utterly exhausted and when he was stretchered out of the arena we all feared another tragedy. However, when Macklin waved to the crowd as he was wheeled out, the sense of relief was enormous.

I was there Scott and totally agree, ref had a shocker and a blessed relief Enzo was not seriously hurt as sending him back out was asking for trouble. Not really a one punch Ko but I reached a point where I found Vitali v Williams a bit tough to watch, some guys are just too brave for their own good.

Was that them halfwits in the crowd, when the MC said over the mic to the security make sure him in the blue shirt gets arrested. If so I am afraid I did see it, fortunately I was sat at the other end of the arena so was nothing more than an irritating distraction to me.

That was a TKO, he didn't even knock him down properly.

Apologies for the error. The second man was wearing blue. Mid toned saturation, the green was a bright hue, light saturation.
