Wladimir a Class Act

On February 13, 1999, Wladimir Klitschko (56-3-0) knocked out his opponent Zoran Vijecic (18-2-0) in the very first round. Nowadays, Zoran is deeply ill, suffering from a viscous disease that comes about from damage to the brain and spinal cord. Multiple Sclerosis is just one of the health issues that Zoran is currently dealing with.

Boxing is a beautiful and at the same time brutal sport, with a potential for serious damage around every corner and with every punch. Sadly, Zoran and his family are unable to cover his medical expenses due to financial difficulties, leaving them in a very bad and scary position.

As soon as Wladimir Klitschko had discovered this to be the case, he came to rescue. He has sent three checks in sum of 10,000 Euros each to help his former opponent get his health in order.

To some this sum is minuscule, but to those in need, its nothing short of a blessing.

As an aside, I read about a guy who'd killed several kids and done horrid things to them, but was aghast at the idea of turning up to his role as a Scout leader smelling of alcohol. It's a funny old world.

Perhaps one should seperate the persona from the boxer, then judge the person. Hopkins spent alot of time with a boxing fan with terminal cancer and spent half the time trying not to cry.

Always liked the Klitschko's and don't find this surprising they are both class acts and Wlad is a very charming man. Vitali isn't so charming but maybe that's down to his English not being as good as his brothers.

When Gary Mason died there was a lovely story of how there was a fundraiser for him and he walked away with about £10k. He donated it all to Michael Watson.

Ehh? You say there was a fundraiser for Gary Mason when he died and 10K was raised. But even though he was dead he donated the money to Michael Watson.
