Just a quick one. Someone was saying earlier that boxing is different from other sports as you don't know how long a fight will last. You're guaranteed 90 mins in football, a number of sets in tennis a number of rounds in golf and so on.. A fight can last only a few rounds or even less which can often leave you wanting more, robbed even especially if its PPV...

My question is which short fights (3 rounds or less) left you completely satisfied. Which short fights were complete value for money and why? Hagler - Hearns is the obvious one..

The obvious one Paperbag: Louis v Schmeling, punch poetry with a popular outcome.

How about Tyson V Berbick, a new era in boxing, the emergence of a possible new Jack Dempsey.Heavyweight boxing got that buzz all over over again, like a t-Rex ripping through the division.

Dempsey v Firpo had just about everything crammed into two rounds. It's a fight I never grow tired from watching on video, and I would dearly love to have been there at the time to savour it live.

It wasn't really a great fight, it was more of a great performance and a great KO, but I never get tired of watching Hearns v Duran. It's my favourite 2 round fight.

I'll have to ROLL the tape and watch it again sometime...

Thought Hearns-Shuler was more impresssive.....Those body shots before the right hand and the set up were superb..

Only a domestic match up but Wayne Alexander vs Paul Samuels was massive fun while it lasted. Think Boxing News described it as a domestic Hagler Hearns

I actually loved Lewis - Golota. Lewis had been widely criticised for his previous performances and Golota was a dangerous and dirty fighter.

95 seconds of career-saving violence. Nice one Lennox. thumbsup

Welcome aboard Nico. thumbsup

Jackson-McLellan was excellent.

Personally my favourite is Segura vs Calderon II. Not as good as the first but watching how Segura had learned how to close the ring off against the very tricky Calderon was excellent. Also a bit easier due to the ring being smaller than the first fight but Segura is a great finisher and his punch output is amazing.

Pacquiao-Hatton, just for the ridiculously one-sided nature and Hatton's human yo-yo impression.

McCallum-Jackson is a cracker. Mike was just about the only bloke I ever saw get properly tagged by Jackson (in the first, when his legs dipped just a bit) and survive to tell the tale. The finish in the second is ruthless.

Zarate-Zamora is an unbelievable tear-up as well. Great atmosphere for the fight, a lot of mutual bad blood, as only the Mexicans can really do it, and a really exciting fight.

lewis - grant.
a lot of people dismiss this fight but grant was undefeated had an impressive ko ratio and had a lot of vocal backing by the americans.
needless to say the job lewis did on him was embarassing, a swift two round demolition of him was very impressive and good to watch. doesnt stand the test of time or anything though like.

suppose this is the limit of a short fight but it ended in 6.
graham earl versus michael katsidis. my goodness that was an unbelievable fight. earl down twice in the first down again in the second corner throw towel in and the ref throws it out as they werent allowed to stop it then earl lands a massive right and katsidis goes down.
after that it was just an all out war with katsidis mainly ontop but with earl showing heart and having his moments. but the cornes didnt want earl to continue and i dont blame them he took some almighty shots. great fight if you havent seen it i dunno where youve been.

I was stateside in the buildup for this fight. None of the knowledgeable fans and experts thought Grant had a chance after he was so nearly knocked out by Golota. Grant was seen at the time as a hype job (didn't he start boxing in his twenties?), who was gun shy and too nice. Be interested in seeing the betting odds.

Fast forward a decade and Grant was the second coming of Goliath.

Nunn-Kalambay was a shocking answer to the question of just who was the best middleweight.

Dempsey v Willard .Just the ferocity of the fight or Dempsey
Norris and Nunn were fine knockouts against top fighters but both caught their opponents cold with a great shot
Hagler v Hearns is the huge stand out for me

Benn v Barkley for me.

Eubank v dos santos for comedy value. James thunder knocking out some hillbilly with one punch was also hilarious.
