OK - he does not use the word cheat. Rather they need to be more "streetwise" and "leaving hands in" to slow down the ball. However you cut it, Dave Ellis is basically insinuating that France need to cheat more to prevent opposition getting quick ball.

SA are bottom of the penalties conceeded stats despite being in a tough physical group and being unbeaten.
You dont need to cheat to win, you just need to stop being rubbish. It also helps if you have a fly half.

After Richie McCaw, the England backrow of 2003 were the best at subversive tactics. Dave Ellis was all over that team as well. Not surprised really.
