FIFA 12 -- How is it for you?
I know this is released officially tomorrow, but for you lucky people who pre-ordered and got it a day or two earlier, how are you finding it?
And for the rest of us from Friday onwards, how do you rate it compared to previous efforts and the competition (PES)?

very much enjoying it so far. can't string more then 7 passes together so not ping pong football anymore
scored a counter attack goal though
defence system is fun you actually have to work to defence instead of just holding a button down.
Much better then fifa 11

Re: FIFA 12 -- How is it for you?
I always felt the passing let FIFA down previously, and it was so easy to have all the possesion! So that's a welcome change for me.
Defence will be interesting, I was rubbish at it on PES last year so if I can't get it together it'll be a fun season for the neutral.

Defending does take a lot of getting used to...... the "Jockying" tactic seems to work best but it is still infuriatingly hard to get used to.
The passing is also much better.........you cant just tap pass and it goes directly to a teamate - you have to be precise.
Will be delving into the career mode tonight which has apparently improved a lot since last year

(Thankfully) never had that but agree that Fifa 11 was terrible compared to more recent previous years. So much so that I said that I wouldn't bother this year (just about owned every year in one format or another since it started in the 90's). However, must admit to my interest being pricked once again after reading this. Interested to see how the managerial side is, to me that was one of the worst aspects of 11.

Re: FIFA 12 -- How is it for you?
I'm enjoying it. I've pretty much had to change my entire way of playing as the old method of scoring just doesn't work. Even when 1 on 1 with the keeper the old tried and tested shot type seems to get changed so it forces you to think more about where you are placing your shots.
Re: FIFA 12 -- How is it for you?
I've been struggling to get more than a single goal in most games and I've had plenty of draws so far!
Think I need to get used to the pace and work harder to create chances -- I always end up down dead end streets!

Re: FIFA 12 -- How is it for you?
Still not getting the goals on it, and I do feel that the gameplay can be a little slow. Defending I am awful, the opposition just needs to make a slight change of direction and they're beyond me!
I hope I get better...otherwise it's a trade in for PES I fear!

What team are you playing as?
I started a career with West Ham but I think I might switch it up. On kick off mode I played with Santos and they're the team that actually have suited me best thus far, but can I do a career with them?

Re: FIFA 12 -- How is it for you?
Love it! Last one I had was Fifa 10 so quite a change for me, playing as Northampton and started with 3 goalless draws on Pro difficulty. Defending is fun but tricky, being helped out by playing at low level - players are crap at shooting! It took me a while but I have made a formation that allows me to create slightly more chances, have now played 10 won 5 drawn 5 but only scored 11 and let in 3, not exactly scintillating football! My game is mainly based on counter attacking and getting the ball to Bayo Akinfenwa - he's scored 9 of my 11 so far! I'll do what I ususally do in terms of difficulty, keep going on this one until I seem to win every game and then put it up a notch and repeat.

The only problem I find with the way you do your difficulty, which is the way I do it as well, is that you eventually get too good for the top difficulty.

Would dispute that claim, especially since you can take opinions from supposedly professional magazines with a pinch of salt and a whole lot of laughter.

Re: FIFA 12 -- How is it for you?
Still finding my feet on the game and struggling to keep them from scoring for long...
But I will say that the dribbling has really improved and you can now actually beat people with a dribble and pace, which was very tricky before.
On the downside, I can't seem to make decent through passes.

I'm utter pants at it.
Bought it last night, as Utd I was getting 0-0 draws with league 2 clubs on normal setting, got beat by City when I downgraded once, now I'm finally starting to win on the lowest setting possible (for people without hands I think).
Re: FIFA 12 -- How is it for you?
Yeah I started on Semi-Pro level (Force of habit...always start there until I get the hang of it). I was starting to get regular 6-0+ wins so I changed it up. Jumped straight to World Class setting. Not sure I'll stick to that, might drop back to Professional for a few games first.
Re: FIFA 12 -- How is it for you?
I'm on world class and sitting 14th with Wednesday in l1. Some games I get battered but still only 12 games in. Find it frustrating to say the least Haha.

Re: FIFA 12 -- How is it for you?
I'm on professional at the moment and I'm 3rd in the league with Real Madrid only three points off top with a game to go...I can win the league if results go my way, but I bet they won't.
I hope that the boards are less harsh on this game than they were on 11. I got sacked by Milan on 11 after winning the treble, for being 3rd in the league 12 games in. I was pretty damn angry. I probably deserve the sack with Real though, I spent a fortune!

pretty decent, a lot more realistic compared to fifa 11 in terms of gameplay. you an actually play like messi and run rings against the opposition.

Not sacked, but they were disappointed with a 3rd place finish...probably rightly! I spent a fortune on Neymar and Rooney and sold Ronaldo for £121m.
Anyway, if I don't win at least one of the league or CL, I'm toast. To that end I bought David Silva, Bale and Vidal. I love being rich!

Re: FIFA 12 -- How is it for you?
started my career mode with manchester city. i'm currently in my third season, i've so far won the premiership x2, fa cup x1 and league cup x2.
I've signed the followng players:
manuel neuer
philipp lahm
thiago silva
mats hummels
sami khedira
nuri sahin
bastian schweinsteiger
mario gotze
lucas moura
ganso
thomas muller
lionel messi
i also signed neymar for a whooping £69.99m, he promptly asked for a transfer and the board sold him for 32m. i was miffed to say the least!

Re: FIFA 12 -- How is it for you?
Nope not a template review. All these sports games in the end are just slight revamps of the previous year, that's pretty much a given despite some of the supposed revolutionary additions that are added each year. The positives mentioned though, however they want to dress up the words, are the ones you should be looking for. I'd be more concerned if they were praising the menu system (both games have shocking menu systems) or the inclusion of licenses as a major positive among other things.

Re: FIFA 12 -- How is it for you?
PES =Disappointing yet again. sorry to say but its an arcade game gone wrong...
Hated them all since PES6.
FIFA has well and truly taken over, whilst i did not like getting used to my first FIFA in 8 years when i changed camps and went for FIFA 09 it proved to be a stroke of genius as the PES games in the last few years have been awful.
To be fair i drilled fifa 09 so hard it made me never want to go near PES again. i was ranked in the top 3000 in the world on fifa and came close to a 100 match win streak in online ranked matches. (yes i am a nerd)
FIFA 12 has been revolutionary, finally a realistic transfer window! the whole game has been changed in comparison to what it used to be like the game is a challenge at times even when youre against the computer!
i can play it on legendary and actually feel as though im up against it!
started manager mode with the mighty leeds... looking to build them into a force now coming to the end of the first season and looking like i can get them into the PL. really enjoying the manager mode for the first time in ages.
also does anyone else think that the transfer windows deadline day is an absolute stroke of genius?!
