FIFA 12 -- How is it for you?
First topic message reminder :
I know this is released officially tomorrow, but for you lucky people who pre-ordered and got it a day or two earlier, how are you finding it?
And for the rest of us from Friday onwards, how do you rate it compared to previous efforts and the competition (PES)?

It's brilliant!
Admittedly i'd already done my transfers before deadline day, but when I saw what was happening with the hourly updates and turning down a couple of bids for my Crawley Town team I thought how January could be fun...
I'll get practising on my Jim White from Sky Sports News voice to announce my signings

Re: FIFA 12 -- How is it for you?
I haven't been playing it much of late in honesty nando, but I'm going pretty well at the top of the league with Real Madrid (I wanted loads of money to buy players). Need to crack Europe though, now in my third season and I got beaten by United in extra time in the QF's last year...
Defending is still up and down, but I'm ok if I have CB's with a bit of pace, and if I control my full backs so they don't get caught out of position.

Re: FIFA 12 -- How is it for you?
Literally the most frustrating game of all time.
I am currently in a season with Aberdeen and I was just beaten 2-1 by St Johnstone. I don't normally mind losing but in this game my opponent whose best player has a rating of about 65 odd are playing passes that you'd expect from a player with a 90+ rating. It is absolutely impossible to play against and I am only on professional!!!

Got my Crawley Town side top of the Championship so far, utilising the youth academy and the average age of my squad is about 18-19!

Trading my copy in this weekend. Absolutely awful game. They have made this years version far too realistic for my liking and it has completely killed the enjoyment of the game for me.

It's a game meant for enjoyment but the way they have programmed the defensive side of things and the way that the AI works has completely taken any enjoyment away from it. I find myself playing and getting so frustrated which has never been the case in any other FIFA games.

Bang on for me Steve, they have made it so I'm not enjpying each game as much as I could and I get exactly what you are saying.
I may get slated for this, but I bought PES on Monday night, and instantly it's more enjoyable than Fifa and has a real attack minded edge to it.

Yeah it seems to many people take the look of a game over the gameplay now.
I still say the most fun I have had with a football game is SWOS. Not the prettiest game but the game play was brilliant.
Kick off is another that ranks highly in my list of football games.

I'll agree on SWOS being the best fun I've had from any football game, and while I could have great fun on Kick Off it was also insanely frustrating with regards to keeping the ball at your players feet when changing direction running at pace. Ball one way player the other scenario.

Re: FIFA 12 -- How is it for you?
Haha yeah, It could get very frustrating at times.
I Can't remember the name of it but the football game that was in the arcades was a good game to. I used to spend loads at my local leisure centre on it.
Much to my shame i used to play a lot of Man United in europe to. Don't know why i always said i hated it but for some reason i kept going back to it.

I adored Man United in Europe at the time, especially since it was one of the early games allowing you to change player names to whatever you wanted. My best memory was getting all my players sent off in first half only to forget I was kicking off second half... game just sat there doing nothing ending up having to switch it off.
The arcade game wasn't Virtual Striker by any chance, where you got to play Team Sega in a bonus match if you won the final.

Yeah that was it. Loved it, there was always a que to get on it, I also played it on a console I think it was a dreamcast, it was a very bad port though.
I remember the editor on Man United in Europe, I used to change the team to my school football team. I didn't relise it was the first to implament it though.

Not sure if it was the first but it was certainly one of the earlier ones to feature such a option. I used to change the team to my mates names or my favourite current world players.
Virtual Striker I never played on Dreamcast (never had one) but I remember the hours spent on it at the arcades, was my favourite game.

For me Fifa is a million miles ahead of PES nowadays, and for me Fifa is actually a bit challenging which is rare in a game, I actually find the computer quite hard at times which makes it pretty fun.

I just got FIFA 12 yesterday and started a league in it lastnight, I found it the same as 11 but with a tweek here and there, no real big difference but I have noticed you can score some cracking goals my first being a volley and the transfer deadline day is a brilliant addition

I like to think I'm a pretty good FIFA player, but still no match for my little brother it seems. Whenever I play him on FIFA 12 I usually lose about 3 games by one goal before I win 1. But as soon as I beat him, he comes back with a vengeance and stuffs me like 6-2.

had a brief play yesterday and have to agree, didnt seem that much different to me. was expecting something totally different the tackling didnt seem to different to me, which was suprising after what some had said how it had changed. picked it up and straigh tinto same style of play i played on 11. usually i struggle at first to adapt

The defending is COMPLETELY different this year on it, if you play someone worth playing you will realise it is a fair bit different.

The only diffence is the Jocking system they have put in but if your anyway good at defending from playing the other games you wont struggle at all...its all about the timing of the tackle

Re: FIFA 12 -- How is it for you?
Finally picked this up after getting it for Xmas and have to say i am really enjoying it.
Started my career with Swindon as a player. The passing is much better and the shooting is much improved from 11. I found on '11 that you pretty much scored the same goal game in game out, where as this season of scored some great goals as well as found it easier to score from angles.
Not reached transfer deadline day yet, but have knocked Forest and Norwich out of the league cup, a 90th minute winner saw my beat Norwich 3-2.

Re: FIFA 12 -- How is it for you?
I have just yesterday started playing Ultimate Team (as I only just got proper internet at home), absolutely love it.
Beer, basically you create your own team, you get a squadfull of low ranked players and you play, you earn coins from games and you spend your coins to unlock better players. Enjoying it so much more than the standard career mode.
And I feel it's a better game if you play online against other people's created teams rather than playing Barca v Real Madrid over and over.
For the record, i'm MarkyCTFC on Xbox Live, if anyone wants to add me and get beaten by the 2nd best side to play in Crawley Town's kit

I'm in the form of my life at the minute, winning games like any man's business. The only issue is my connection is complete gash, so occasionally I lose because of pure lag.

Haven't played for some time but I always liked David Silva because he was a through ball machine.
Neymar was handy too, and Vidal was the best at breaking the play up.

Started a BAP as a keeper last night with Swansea, beat City 2-1 first game of the season but given a loss for some reason. Lost to Everton on pens in the league cup 4th round, my keepers seriously average at the moment so even when I went the right way I wasn't able to save them.

I don't have a console but my brother does, no live or anything so we normally just play each other, recently been in the form of my life. Whichever teams we play as, I keep beating.
Played this morning as Bayern Munich against CSKA moscow, won 9-3!
