Trust me, we all want our home nations to win but there are very few people that invest so much time in watching rugby only to want England to lose.
But that wasn't the point. I was just testing opinions in v2 without making the ballot paper a yard long.
But it seems that the Celtic nations are not as close as the are portrayed.

Portrayed by who Portnoy. The only person who seems to be lumping them together is you.

Whoever named the Celtic league the Celtic league?

It's only the English who portray them as close.
I was nearly lynched one time in N. Wales by a mob of Welsh football fans for wearing an Ireland rugby top.

Ah, but that's North Wales for you. They probably thought you were a Roman.

There is the opportunity to take the ' I'm neither Celtic nor English' options.
No imagined disenfranchisement there.

Re: The ABE test.
When the Lions tour comes around, Irish people are always insisting that people call the them the British & Irish Lions. I've never heard anyone want them to be called the English and Celtic Lions. I don't know who you think is portraying Ireland, Scotland and Wales as so close. They have ancient cultural links. But the English have ancient links to Saxony, it doesn't mean they feel close now.
The Celtic nations have one thing in common in sport. They like to beat their bigger neighbour. Just like the Dutch love beating the Germans and the Mexicans love beating the USA. It's a sporting rivalry with a little bit of a historical grudge to add some bite. It's not some kind of coordinated English persecution conspiracy. And in fact, I think English teams actually thrive on the knowledge that people want them to lose and the feeling that everyone's against them. They love it.
I love beating England and I hate losing to them. I don't think there's anything sinister about it. Just like I don't hold it against the people all around Ireland who didn't want those flippin city slickers from Dublin to win the All Ireland Championship this year. And they knew lots of people didn't want them to win. It didn't bother them. It's part of the spice of a sporting tournament. The Dubs did win by the way. And I'd say they didn't give a toss what anyone else thought.

With a fairly large number of posts in (and still dripping in) it's not looking cosy for those who wish to waft away the 'imagined' stigma of the 'imagined' ABE brigade.
Even those that deny that the Celt description is a proscribed four-letter C-word have to acknowledge that on this board have to admit that there is a strong ABE tendency here.
And for those who don't wish to be grouped together or included as Celts, may I remind them that there is a non-English/non-Celt option?

Opinion is merely anecdotal in the absence of a total dataset. So let me add my anecdote.
Get over yourself, amongst the wide and varied circles I travel, I have found no more ABE, than ABF, ABA, ABI, ABS, ABABs, ABSA or ABW.

Where? According to the poll above, most of the replies are from England supporters who want an English win. Sort of contradicts that statement really...

Re: The ABE test.
This is quite a circular argument. I've lived in England for over 20 years and most of the english I know love seeing Wales lose. I think its something to do with the dominance they had over England for many years - I dont think England beat us in Cardiff for 30 years which is quite a feat. I can also assure you that back then it was not much of an event beating England

Idiocy is international. There are indeed a few bigots out there. Boneheaded stupidity that intense cannot be swayed by logic, truth or facts.
Except for the Scots, of course. They really should be exterminated. 100-0 will do me nicely.
